  1. Me and some buddies combine to do a pretty high money survivor pool every year. We have to pick 2 teams a week. Seattle is our lock, the 2nd one is being debated like crazy. I'm leaning GB but not confident in that at all. Any thoughts?
  2. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) Sadly, no. Damn. Ya, that's one where at least for me, I'd be guaranteed to bench the wrong guy every week.
  3. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 09:54 AM) Two very different roster decisions in two leagues - both are 12 team leagues, neither are PPR: The first is my main league. It's a keeper league with rampant trading. I kept Watkins, Cooper, and Bell and lucked into Antonio Brown. Because of the keeper league, RBs were very sparse. I have Deangelo Williams, so I'm covered through Bell's suspension, but my options for the 2nd RB spot are: Forsett Yeldon Duke Johnson I'm leaning toward Forsett because he's probably the starter there - at least until Dixon gets back. Duke Johnson has less value since it's not a PPR league. I don't have any idea as to how the Jags backfield shakes out, but sounds like Ivory is going to get the first crack at carries. Not feeling great about the RB situation there though. The second league, I have to pick two to start out of: Lamar Miller David Johnson Deangelo Williams I kind of feel like this one is a close your eyes and pick 2 type of decision... No flex spot in the 2nd league?
  4. Had my 12 team .5 ppr league draft last night. It's a tiered keeper league where you have to keep 4 guys. My keepers were Gronk, Brees, Odell and Jordy. I ended up getting the 5th pick and since it's a keeper there were just no rb's worth grabbing early so I basically just said f*** it: Brees Langford Abdullah Beckham jr Jordy Gronk Amari Cooper Crosby Defense will be by committee but going Eagles this week Meh. EDIT: And illinlaw's post reminded me that I did nab Deangelo Williams so he'll be starting for me until Bell comes back.
  5. I'm not doubting DA as I know he's just posting what he was told but I'll believe it when I see it.
  6. I'm trying to nab Henry in all my leagues as a back up/guy I can stash on my bench for later in the year. Missed on him by 1 pick in my main league and I wasn't happy about it. I think he'll be damn good and valuable a little later in the season.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) Maybe they learned their lesson they can really totally shop at Walmart. I just don't understand how anyone can think these guys could be better at projecting minor leaguers than major leaguers. That's harder for anyone. If you think the guys they want to throw millions at can't play, why would guys they get for Sale or Quintana be able to play? Why wouldn't they be Avi or Leury Garcia? Or Jon Adkins, the guy they got for Ray Durham, or Matt Davidson? It's not like they have struck it rich when they did trade for prospects. As I've said before, I have no clue if they're going to do a rebuild right, no idea if they'll bring in the right prospects to do this correctly. I do however know that they can't put together a roster around Sale and Quintana to make the playoffs. 5 years is a lot of freaking time to have gotten that right, they haven't done that and I'll absolutely be pissed off if they go about it in the same way for year 6 because hey, maybe they'll get lucky.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) Because when you have Sale and Quintana, there is always a chance you might hit on someone and you still have Sale and Quintana. Trading them could result in the Jesus Monteros, Logan Morrisons of the world. You, and the rest of us would be even more unhappy then. If you don't think these dopes can project players with MLB experience, it is kind of crazy to think they would be good at doing something even harder. Projecting players with no MLB experience. Although I once worked at a place that if you really wanted a promotion, failing at your job was the quickest path. They even once laid a woman off and found her a better paying job. So you are in the stick to the plan and maybe year 6 with these two will be the year boat? I just don't get how anybody could possibly want to keep doing this.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 6, 2016 -> 11:09 AM) and unfortunately the show later was the opposite of fantastic... There was like a 40 minute span that might have been the worst 40 minutes in the history of television.
  10. Some people definitely had an odd attachment to Robbie. I got nothing against the guy but it was weird to me to see how many people were actually outraged about the releasing of a kicker.
  11. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) Nah, nobody in our league proposes their best offer first. They start off hoping the other guy is clueless, then they counter back and forth until they find a middle. So your counter offer back is going to be your 3rd or 6th round pick for a top 10 overall guy? I don't even get the logic here.
  12. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 11:26 PM) Here is my team. I am laughable at RB, but I think everything else is solid. Currently have a trade offer out of Allen Hurns for RB David Johnson. Don't expect him to accept, but plan on countering with Eric Decker or Keenan Allen if/when he rejects it. Do the people in your league not get mad when you propose ridiculous stuff?
  13. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 06:26 PM) So like 2 years ago, we held a draft, when we started the auction league (we were doing a standard keeper for like 9 years before that). If you drafted Aaron Rodgers for $40 bucks and wanted to keep him, he would cost you an additional $5, so next year he would be $45 to keep. The year after? $50... So I grabbed Ingram and Evans in our league when they were both rookies for like $1 and $2, and I've kept them every year. It makes those players SO valuable. I think OBJ has a value of like $12 bucks right now in our league. What the values also do is allow big name players to go back into the draft. Julio Jones was in our draft this year, because last year someone spent like $55 on him, and the owner wants more flexibility. If he really wanted Julio again, he could bid on him again. I believe we also have a 4 year rule on keepers now. After year 4, those players have to go back into the pool. That's really cool. I like that.
  14. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 5, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) Keeper, Auction League. Took a very different strategy in the sense I always waited for value players, and ended up missing out on everyone I wanted, and had to spend money on crap players. Tyrod Taylor-$9 Julio Jones- $67 Mike Evans- $12 (Keeper) Ezikiel Elliot- $67 Mark Ingram- $13 (Keeper) Jason Whitten- $3 (FLEX)Spencer Ware- $6 Will Fuller-$2 Tyler Eifert- $7 Jamieus Winston- $6 A few other nobody $1 players Gano- $1 NE Defense- $2 How is the money value assigned for the keepers?
  15. Main league, we got rid of kickers fyi: Roethlisberger(hate my team solely cause I drafted this asshole) Forte Langford Beckham jr Mike Evans Gronk Kelvin Benjamin Seahawks d Bench: Melvin Gordon, Allen Hurns, TJ Yeldon, Jordan Howard, Treadwell, Bortles, Martellus Bennett, Dorial Green Beckham.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) First game ever televised on Big Ten Network. What a gem. I'll actually never forget that game because once it got to the 2nd half a buddy and I called all around Carbondale to find a place that was showing it so we could watch the end of it. The brand new(at the time) Buffalo Wild Wings was the only place that actually got the channel at the time.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) It's like you could have been a Cyclone. I don't drink.
  18. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) I don't know how good Iowa State will be this year, but the fact that there were over 50 RVs and busses ready to tailgate at 8 AM this morning for a game that doesn't occur til tomorrow at 7PM against an FCS school means we can still drink with any school. If we're being honest, that's all that really matters.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) I've seen quite the opposite and I haven't been looking for any information on this story. There's been both.

    Labor Day Weekend

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) Thanks. Pretty epic hike. Probably the best one I've done out here. That picture is badass dude.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) The burning hammer was ridiculous. I actually slightly preferred the Metalik v. Tozawa match, but basically a coin toss on those two matches. Bottom line the whole show is fantastic. They actually had a botched finish, as refs are instructed to call matches as shoots, and Ibushi got counted out after the neck breaker on the turnbuckle. Live, Regal came out and said Kendrick shouldn't win on an illegal move and restarted the match. That was obviously edited out for the Network show. Ya, both matches were fantastic. I personally just got into the Kendrick-Ibushi match more. Can't believe they let Kendrick use the burning hammer.
