I can unfortunately never detach myself from this stupid organization because I love them so much but holy f*** do I hate them right now.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) I don't understand the bafflement. I get that you guys think they should blow it up, but why are you shocked that they aren't? They're a .500 team with all of their core players controlled next year. They just decided to keep trying to build and win. I'm not saying it's the RIGHT decision, but it's not a confusing one either. I don't think anyone is baffled by it(I think a lot of us kind of expected it) but some of us are certainly pissed about it. It didn't work this year so lets go ahead and do the same thing again that hasn't worked in a f***in decade now.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) Why not around one of the B's plus Benitendi or Moncada plus Swihart, etc? It can be both and depending on the B, you are still getting a ton of long-term value. Plus, I think part of this change is more realizing we can develop pitching and not position talent, so it is more retooling the club around position players, hoping we can leverage our historical strength's to rebuild the rotation. Bradley and Betts are both having better seasons than Sale, are both still on their rookie contracts and are both under control longer than Chris, we're not going to get one of them plus Moncada or Benintendi plus more.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:34 PM) That is an opinion. I get your stance, but you don't trade Q and Sale unless you get what you want, and so long as you have those dudes, you may as well try to compete. Which is a proven failure with this organization.

Looks like Beltran is going to Texas, not sure for what yet.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:32 PM) You don't know the offers, so to criticize them for not taking them is ridiculous. I have read many times on this board if Boston doesn't over their 4 top prospects, then no Chris Sale for them. Now the only reports out there say they will not offer their top prospect and the White Sox are losers for not settling. You could see this coming for weeks. Unless the White Sox were able to acquire the unreasonable packages proposed on here, it was going to be a b**** fest whether they traded him for less, which apparently you think is a good idea, or not trade him at all, which is supposedly bad. That said, there is still 90 minutes to go. Something will more than likely happen. I have ten years of running an awful organization to criticize them for. You also don't know what has been offered so to defend them is ridiculous. Players/teams/organizations can earn the benefit of the doubt but all this organization does is constantly make the wrong move. Until they do something different, anything different, my first reaction is going to be to criticize because that's what they've earned.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) Please provide details of the deals they have turned down. Please provide details on why they deserve the benefit of the doubt.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) No one should be mad at the Sox if Quintana and Sale aren't moved. Instead we should all take solace in the fact that this management group has a track record of selling in the offseason and has never let us down before.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) But why do that 3 hours before the deadline when you have other calls to make? They could do this any day after the deadline if they wanted to just lay groundwork I'm sure they're doing plenty.
-
QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) If the Sox pick up Puig wouldnt that kind of label them as buyers at the deadline? They'd just be caught in between as usual. Not that I would complain about a Shields for Puig trade but it'd definitely be an oddball given the situation.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) The Sox aren't done. They may not blow the whole thing up, but they're not done. And Reddick would hold no appeal to the Sox. He's a FA at year end. I feel like your biggest problem as a Sox fan is you seem like you're way too rational as a person. The Sox management is it's own f***in animal. They don't think logically.
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) These should just be moved to the Shields trade, no? Nah. Could be Shields but could be something else. It's worthy of its own thread.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:18 PM) Paulie is such a candy ass. Threatened by the women and needs to run them down. So insecure like his jagoff brother. What'd Paulie do? I haven't been keeping up with the feeds as much as some past seasons. And why was Cody a jagoff? He was a wuss for sure but he seemed like a decent enough guy.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:27 PM) Doing something half-assed just because this isn't working is a franchise killing move. You have two gigantic assets and if you aren't squeezing every possible return out of them, you are negligent as a front office. Fans can think like you are. GM's can't. It's not half assed if you believe it's the best value you're going to get even if it's not 100 percent everything you hoped for. And you can't kill something that's already dead and this franchise has been dead for a long while now.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) I have yet to hear anything to indicate we have been offered anywhere near that kind of a deal. In fact all I keep reading is how teams DON'T want to offer their top guys. What deal am I missing here? What I don't want to do is trade Chris Sale for a lesser package and end up with an assortment of Avi Garcia's so that we can win 70 games a year instead. As opposed to our 79 wins a year that we know we're going to get now a days? Obviously nobody knows what's being offered at the moment but I bet right now is the best offers we're going to get outside of maybe this offseason. Problem is, as I keep saying, if we get to the offseason with these guys still on the roster then we're going for it on 2017, no doubt in my mind. We know what type of team we can build around Sale and Q, we have no idea whatsoever with the trade scenario. There's a (good)chance this fails no matter what but I'm willing to take that chance over the guarantee of mediocrity.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) Sure you can. You can just wait a couple years until their price gets to a point in which a team is actually willing to pay. You don't just give up years of control of underpaid aces just to move on. You get full value, or you wait. We've been waiting for 5 years now. Their value is going to start to diminish at some point if we don't move on this. Like I said before, it makes perfect sense in theory to wait until the offseason to move them but I guarantee that's not how we're going to operate if we still have both in the winter. 5 years since these two have been starting together and absolutely nothing to show for it. We can pretend we hold all the cards here and we don't need to move them(cause once again in theory we don't) but we're just going to repeat this same song and dance next July when they both have a little less value, if we don't move them now.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) Why Abreu? Absolute worst time to trade him.
-
Ya, I'm absolutely going to be pissed off if they don't trade off Q or Sale and some of the other valuable assets. It's right in theory to say that we have them for a while so we don't have to trade them right now but this organization DOES have to trade them right now. There's too much history of them standing pat and then trying to reload in the offseason just to fail again and I bet that's what happens if they're both here going into the offseason. Add that to the fact that this is the perfect market to trade one(or both if I had my way) of them and their value will start to diminish with the less time we have control of them and the time for a trade is now.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) I'm well past giving this front office the benefit of the doubt, BUT in terms of Sale, there is no NEED to move him at this deadline. But if you have a plan (please God for once have a plan), then you best be confident you can get the package you are looking for this winter with more teams in the hunt for an ace. If we go into the offseason with both Sale and Q you know we're going for it again in 2017.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) This team is jack with Sale though. What would you suggest they do? Hold pat? I don't see how gradual improvements over the next three years will be enough when Chris will be exiting via free agency in 2020. Starting over is really our only option. This.

To answer the thread title...yes.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 05:55 PM) What is the best beer these days? Keystone Light.

Doesn't hurt to ask. I don't think they're getting that kind of return for Shields but hey who the f*** knows.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) To be fair, it's a hysterical scenario. "WHAT IF WE TRADED WRIGLEY FOR SALE AND COMISKEY?" They can have Wrigley but can we get Wrigleyville instead? People are about to yell at me.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) If someone offered 1 billion dollars for Chris Sale do you think the white sox accept? Edit: nobody respond to this. Yes. I just wanted to respond.
