  1. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 27, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) lol I used to be harder on him than other kids but I eased up on him this year. If he was better than the other kids I WOULD be harder on him, though. I think that's normal. My dad used to kill me when he was my basketball coach growing up but was super nice to all the other kids. Anywho, I currently teach some basketball classes to 5 and 6 years olds. I've taught bball, tball, flag football and soccer to younger kids before and martial arts classes to some older kids as well. And I've actually coached basketball leagues too.
  2. QUOTE (Dunt @ May 27, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) Gordon Beckham comps are lazy, the only reason people are bringing him up is because he's the freshest failure in our minds. They are very different situations. All these comparisons are lazy. We haven't churned out a good hitting prospect in like a decade so we probably should never bring him up.
  3. So Ospreay and Ricochet had another match last night/this morning. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea but if you like the acrobatics of wrestling these two are pretty much the kings of it. If you don't want to watch the whole match here's some absurd gif's of it: http://www.cagesideseats.com/2016/5/27/117...ochet-5-27-2016
  4. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 26, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) Parents paying for college? Some sure but it's getting too expensive even for them! I went to a pretty wealthy high school(shut up Brian) and almost none of the people I knew had their college paid for by their parents and this was a decade ago.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 26, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) Fair post. Good post. Kids are facing higher costs, but a lot of mamas and daddys are paying for college. Why do you think this is true? Because it's not.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 26, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) From what I've heard about Beckham, he probably fails either way. Didn't have the mental fortitude. I think the same can be said about a lot of prospects that fail. In general I don't think it's going to matter too much if you're 'rushed' or handled with kid gloves, some guys are just mentally tough enough to succeed in the bigs and some are not.
  7. Ya I don't remember the criteria but there was definitely a lot of people that got exempt from finals. I took a lot of finals.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2016 -> 12:21 PM) So it doesn't hurt the team and him now. Why would you want to replace a guy who sucks, with a guy who will probably suck more? Because I don't see it hurting him or the team. There's a chance he sucks for a month/month and a half and tears in up the 2nd half of the season. Do I know if that's going to happen? Of course not, but I think there's a better chance of that happening then there is of Saladino or Rollins really helping the team as a starting ss. And like I said, I think if anything this just helps speed up the Anderson development, I don't think it hurts it at all. Either way, we're going to have to deal with the initial Anderson struggles at some point so I don't see the difference between now and next April.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) Because you want to do what is best for Anderson and the franchise on a long term basis. Releasing a useful player, and slotting a young one in the middle of a pennant race who has a history of struggling to start off each level with high strikeouts and no walks isn't a recipe for success for either Anderson or the White Sox today. Bring him up in September, where you can mix and match his ABs in better situations, and then if he wins the job in spring training, let him get his real struggles out of the way in April, with a lot less attention on him. I just don't see the logic in this. I think we all agree that Anderson is going to struggle initially so why hold back the process? If we plan on contending next year, it's going to be the same thing next April as it is now. To me, he's the Sox best option to be a useful ss this year and he's proven to have the mental capability to survive some struggles. Bring him up and let him adjust against the best competition out there.
  10. Going on a work outing Saturday that I'm actually looking forward to. I'm sure I'll find some trouble to get into Sunday but no plans as of yet.
  11. My favorite line is the "I know there's a lot of baseball left" part making it sound like we're in last place or something. If there wasn't baseball left in the regular season we'd be in the playoffs.
  12. Josh Fields and Gordon Beckham should have everything to do with Tim Anderson.
  13. He's still got a lot to work on, doesn't mean he can't do that in the major leagues though. At this point he's probably the best shortstop in our organization so get him up here and let him take his lumps and continue to develop at the majors.
  14. I'm intrigued. There's so much talent under the wwe umbrella that this could be amazing or it could fall on it's face as well. Very interested to see how the rosters are split and who immediately is called up from nxt and what this does to nxt in general.
  15. Not convinced Harper, Machado or Chris Sale will amount to much.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 24, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) Just curious - anyone know what Dayan Viciedo is up to this year? Last I heard he was destroying the ball in Japan. Haven't checked in a while though.
  17. QUOTE (almagest @ May 24, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) We need to start putting him in the late innings of tie games. Now we're talking.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ May 24, 2016 -> 10:15 AM) I mean, the reality is the "action" of pitcher throwing to catcher is also a part of what critics say with "nothing is happening. This is definitely a huge part of it.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 24, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) However many starts he has will be how many wins he has. I think he gets 3 more wins than number of starts he has.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) You should care about others opinion of you, you are a terrible dude. Wait... Ya.
  21. I couldn't pin point when but at some point in college a switch just flipped and I went from one of the shyest people around to one of the most outgoing. I'm sure people feel plenty awkward around me at times but I'm not afraid to embarrass myself and I'll talk to anyone now a days.
  22. QUOTE (kevo880 @ May 23, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) Did the same thing. I told them all to wear a black suit they already had and I provided the ties and matching socks. Worked out well and saved them all a bunch of money on renting a tux for a day. I'm in a wedding in August and they're doing no jacket for the groomsmen. First time I've heard of that and it's much cheaper than the other weddings I've been in.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 21, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) Not to sound too much like I'm related to Rowand44 but the last two gifts I got were a nice bottle of scotch and a personalized liquor decanter with my name on it. I expect a similar gift when I'm in your wedding. The coolest groomsmen gift I ever got was a customized Jordan White Sox jersey. The groom got all of us customized Sox or Cubs jerseys depending on who we rooted for. The other gift that I liked a lot was a personalized cooler bag with a 6 pack of our favorite beer in it.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ May 22, 2016 -> 10:13 PM) Haven't you heard??? ROMAN SUCKS AND CANT WRESTLE!!! Despite have great matches, like you said. I don't think anyone out there believes that Roman can't work. He's made himself into a very good worker, it's literally everything else about pro wrestling that he's not very good at. When you're going to be Samoan Cena the fact that you can't talk is going to bother people. QUOTE (TRU @ May 23, 2016 -> 11:33 AM) Rollins had major knee surgery 6 months ago, how the hell is he back? What a beast.. Also, im not a huge Roman hater but come on.. A styles clash, followed by a styles clash on a chair, followed by 4-5 chair shots and somehow RIGHT after that Cenas his way to another win.. Some of these guys really are super human. I'm pumped that Seth is back.
  25. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 20, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) If he's better than the options that exist post trade deadline then there is zero doubt should come up and help contribute to hopefully a division winning club. Let's say the Sox don't move for a SS and in August you've got a .5 WAR Rollins and a .5 WAR Saladino and a 320/350/450 Anderson with solid defense in AAA -- he comes up, no doubt about it. If he can even hit 270/300/400 down the stretch that would be a huge boost and on days you want to go defense you simply plug in Saladino. I"m about ready to cut bait on Rollins I haven't seen anything from him that suggests he is still an effective starter. His lack of range at SS is troubling. Agreed with all of this.
