  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) I have yet to see Joe Maddon asked about the White Sox, nor have I seen Jake Arrieta asked about Chris Sale. Even if this were going on, it would legitimize this a little bit more in my eyes. It'd be dumb to ask Arrieta those questions too. They literally have nothing to do with each other right now. If this was 2 months from now and these teams were about to match up then sure, ask away. Right now, it's just stupid.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ May 20, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) In Reality, Arrieta should be asked about Quintana after every good game. In reality, everyone in baseball whether pitcher, hitter, manager, mascot should be asked about Quintana every day of their lives.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) As a White Sox fan I would like to request a media moratorium on one specific thing. Can we quit asking White Sox players questions about the Cubs. For example, last night in the midst of the post game interviews where Chris Sale became the first White Sox pitcher to go 9-0 in his first 9 starts since Eddie Cicotte in 1919, someone asked him about Jake Arrieta. Why? Why not ask him about Chris Sale? Or someone in the American League? It is lazy journalism on behalf of the sports journalists in Chicago for their White Sox related questioning to keep coming back to the Cubs. Stop it. It is insulting and irrelevant. Especially when the White Sox have nothing to do with the Cubs. They aren't in the same division or league, and they aren't playing each other. It is my direct challenge to the sports writers and broadcasters of Chicago to step up their game and actually come up with some relevant questions for Chicago White Sox staff and players. This actually bothered me last night as well. I'm not someone that harps on the media too much especially the whole "THE MEDIA LOVES THE CUBS SO MUCH" group but there was just no reason to ask Sale some of these questions last night. Unfortunately someone on my twitter timeline retweeted a Levine quote, so I checked out his account and everything from his Sox post game wrap up was the Sale-Arrieta stuff and how the Sale vs. Cubs game which is 2 months away is going to be fantastic. Just dumb.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 20, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) This wasn't that hard to predict. Even with his s***ty ERA last year he was worth almost 3 fWAR and finished 39th among starting pitchers. Split the difference between his career-worst year last year and his career-best year in 2014, add in the discount going back to the NL and pitching half his games in the best pitching park in the majors, and a low 3s ERA seemed like a reasonable prediction. Exactly. This was easiest call of a bounce back season ever.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 19, 2016 -> 07:50 PM) Heard Kaplan earlier in the week say that you win and lose 60 games each and it's the other 60 games that dictate your record He's Hawk with out the math skills.
  6. Ya, the Cubs are the best team in baseball imo but Arietta is not the best pitcher. Kershaw has been, is and probably will be for some time the best pitcher in the game.
  7. The NL is kicking the AL's ass so far in interleague for the record.
  8. The defense has been a let down the last week as well. Get that back on track and they'll be fine, no need to worry yet.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2016 -> 02:54 PM) Jimmy Butler is better than every player on the Sixers (including the #1 pick). Yes, I would still take the Bulls going-forward, the only thing that gives me pause in it is how little I think of Hoiberg as a coach. Bulls also have cap space. Not saying they'll do much with it, but put a quality coach on this team and find a good point guard and another solid player and yes, I think we'd be a pretty good team. Championship, no, but I don't see the Sixers being anywhere close to a championship either. It's not fair to say Jimmy is better than the number 1 pick because we have no clue what Simmons or Ingram is going to be. All I know is Jimmy is a great(not elite) player that can't be the number 1 guy on a championship team. The odds of Simmons or Ingram being that number 1 guy certainly aren't high but we don't know for sure that they aren't.
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 18, 2016 -> 02:20 PM) They are getting Ben Simmons though, who I believe is a superstar. So they'll have 1 more superstar than the Bulls currently have giving them a better chance going forward. Bulls are in basketball hell. Drafting Simmons definitely isn't a slam dunk. I'm with you for the most part as there aren't many teams I wouldn't trade places with as a Bulls fan but I'm not really sold on what the Sixers are doing either.
  11. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ May 18, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) Frustrating (non)call, but WTF is Albers about lately? Regressing to the mean. He'll be fine.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 18, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) Wait, what? The last time that the Sox had a real top 10 in all of baseball prospect was Jon Rauch. Most publications had Reed somewhere around the 20-25 range, he's heroworshipping the hell out of him.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 18, 2016 -> 12:30 AM) Nobody agreed about Desmond all off-season (Desmond now has an 803 OPS). Rollins has a 664 OPS with below average defense/range and Saladino's at 598. Fwiw, that's the rare second three homer game in a week, KC lost the game Cain hit them. The board was definitely all over the place on Desmond but fathom never waivered in wanting him on the Sox.
  14. Literally every Chicago writer/beat reporter is saying that the base runner would have just went back to first. Reading the rule seems to indicate to me he would have been out, what am I missing here?
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Boring. God the Bulls suck. We can't even lottery correct.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) well, one poster doesnt support it because Jim Thome was traded for Aaron Rowand and Freddy Garcia was traded for Jeremy Reed. I do it too but I don't know why anyone still argues with Greensox as it's pointless. If you're over the age of 25 then you're worthless, the end.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 17, 2016 -> 05:54 PM) Isn't that what we used on Danks, though? That was already a sunk cost going into the season no matter what.
  18. I don't think he's actually referring to anyone. He's just saying that he's ready to make a deal at anytime.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2016 -> 11:57 PM) Bet the farm on Okie City. OKC is so hot and so gelling it might not be a long series. If OKC steals Game Two, and it definitely could, this baby is going five maximum. I laugh at teams changing coaches. Scott Brooks had nothing to do with this vs. Billy Donovan. Adams and Kanter are physical presences and can grab rebounds. Collison and Ibaka were OK but these two guys are man mountains and make a big difference to go with a HEALTHY Durant and Westie. Amazing how those two guys being completely healthy with rebounders makes them unbeatable. OKC in five or six. Game two is not a lock for the Warriors. OKC is making a mockery of the regular season homecourt success of first the Spurs, now the Warriors. Funny how the NBA is thriving. First you've got the LeBron/Wade/Bosh show dominance. Then you get the teamwork of the Spurs. Then you get the emergency of Curry-mania and the Warriors. Now you've got the Durant/Westbrook show finally mature enough and healthy enough to win a title or two. AMAZING development is the Thunder. I'm not even trying to be an ass here but do you have something against the Warriors? You've made like 2 posts in the NBA threads in the last couple of years and both of them have been to say bet the farm or house on the team facing GS.
  20. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ May 17, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) Assuming he means "under the weather" as in sick, right? Nope. He is the weather.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) LOL. Brian and Rowand would never allow this to become a thing We want realistic names here, not complete lies.
  22. That 4th quarter actually kind of sucked but this is going to be a fun series. I'll still take the Warriors in 5 or 6 but I think every game is going to be close.
