  1. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) ChrisnfreakingSale should have gotten at least 3 real prospects, we got two. Face it, DD hoodwinked RH when he added Diaz and Basabe. It's over, who cares. I was just sticking up for Balta. This is such an awful opinion.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 05:43 PM) Because they play them 18 or 19 times. It is very understandable. If the White Sox word isn't good enough, then it won't happen. Probably won't happen anyway. There has to be at least one top guy in the package or it makes no sense for Baltimore. It's not understandable at all. You said yourself that there's not going to be an extension(which I completely agree with) and with out Machado they aren't going to be competing so why the heck wouldn't you just get the best possible pacakge? EDIT: For the record, my post is solely about Baltimore not wanting to trade him to the Yankees.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:39 PM) I don't think the Cardinals are anywhere near blowing it up. They pretty consistently put a good team on the field with a fairly steady stream of prospects in the minors. This is a good move by them too. Agreed on all of this. And they have plenty of money to spend when they want to. They're fine.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 03:55 PM) Cardinals and Red Sox Cardinals make sense. Reyes or no Reyes I could see being the hold up there. Hence maybe the Orioles trying to run with a Sox leak as they're one of the few teams that could match/outdo Reyes. Pure speculation on my part obviously.
  5. This team is still really bad as is, Niko isn't going to shoot 60 percent all year. The tank will be fine. Things do change a bit when Lavine comes back but you wait as long as possible to bring him back. Like make sure he's all the way healthy.
  6. I don't see the actual point in driving the price up for Machado? I'm not buying that.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) What do people think that Machado would sign an extension here? He knows literally nothing of this organization beyond perhaps some of its players. It seems extremely unlikely that he would forsake his golden free agency to sign an extension with an organization to which he is brand new. This would be a one-rental player, albeit with a chance to make an impact on him going into his free agency, in a year in which the Sox will still not be contenders. I don't think there's a chance he signs an extension no matter where he ends up. This is just all hypothetical discussion.
  8. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Unless he comes with a guaranteed 5-7 year extension would you even trade Kopech for Machado straight up? I wouldn't. This will probably sounds nuts to people but I'm not including Kopech in a deal for Machado even if he signed an extension. All the sudden you're losing a lot of your payroll flexibility and you're losing your potential ace. We have some pitching depth in this organization but we don't have Kopech depth. You weaken your future rotation a great deal and you lose a lot of this payroll flexibility you've gained. I'm really not a fan of doing that even for a guy like Manny.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) This kinda reminds me of an auction draft in fantasy sports. A good player comes up and you start bidding kinda high to not waste time, then nobody else is bidding and you start to panic. Baltimore is like "YOU ARE THE BEST OFFER" and now Hahn is like "What, NO! Probably not us. SOmeone else is gonna bid. Can't be us" Lol this is wonderful.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:39 AM) It's not You have no idea if this is true. None.
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 09:22 PM) My brain keeps thinking "Richard Simmons" Ha mine too.
  12. Hansen and Robert aren't untouchable for me but we have to be getting an absolute superstar back(especially for Alec) if we're trading them. Yelich is a very, very good player but he's not there.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) His peripherals in the bigs weren't that good, but I'll take him having some confidence for next year over anything. But you wouldn't trade him and Dunning for Machado with an extension. Everything you're saying adds up.
  14. Crazy prolly wouldn’t be the word I use.
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 06:14 PM) There's no way we trade for him right now but if this tweet is a signal that the White Sox are open to spending big next offseason then this is good news. I have absolutely no inside information and have heard nothing on the topic but they’re open to spending big next offseason, I’ll tell you that right now.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 05:39 PM) I'd still rather pass, hold the pitchers, and if he's not available as a FA target someone else. I mean, if you actually are signing Machado to an extension you get rid of Fulmer and Dunning in a heart beat. Anderson is the only would I'd be shaky about moving.
  17. When is the last time the dreaded 72 hour window actually took place? Legit question as people love to throw that around but I feel like I haven't heard about it in a while. I could absolutely be wrong on that though too.
  18. Maybe Hahn is trying to get a window to talk to Machado to try and get an idea of what he's looking for next offseason. No? Ok.
  19. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 05:20 PM) The Sox should be interested, if he wants to sign a seven year deal upon arrival to Chicago. Other than that...wait. Ha exactly. This doesn't make any sense.
  20. Guys they're not going to draft Guerrero. I hate it as much as anyone that they didn't protect him but they didn't protect him when they could have, they're not picking him.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Not to play grammar nazi, but what a terribly written sentence. And just out of curiosity, what does this sentence even mean? It means he's old.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 12, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) I don't know why anyone would give up anything of value honestly. He's not going to re-sign anywhere. He'd be a fool not to reach free agency. A team trying to win this year can absolutely trade something significant away, the White Sox...not so much.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2017 -> 09:52 PM) Niko and Portis a fine 1-2 punch tonight. Bulls no Niko. 3-20 Bulls with Niko. 3-0 I see what you did there.
