  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) This game keeps getting better. Memphis currently up 55-48 in OT That was so much fun.
  2. Think Hahn mentioned Soxtalk in his presentation?
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) Mizzou played UCF last night and I had never watched Tacko fall before and OMG is it crazy how much taller he looks than everyone else. Pretty sure he could grab the top of the backboard standing I watched a bit of it too, that dude is HUGE.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) Even if they do take the next step, there are worse things than having a ton of depth (see dodgers). Catchers get injured, it's nice when you don't replace them with players lucky to hit mendoza line. Can catch every now and then and DH against lefties at times in that case.
  5. Pretty stupid that I'm at work right now considering I can't send out emails or make phone calls.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) You have Kopech #1? I think there is a fair argument to have him ranked number 1. I go back and forth but I'd probably have Eloy by a hair at the moment. I just don't agree with your guys' floor and ceiling theory. I think relative to their position they have the same floor and ceiling as each other.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) Kopech has a higher ceiling, but Eloy has the higher floor and is generally a much safer player. I don’t see much of an argument for Kopech right now unless you’re going off upside. And I say this as someone who believes he’s the best pitching prospect in baseball. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 03:59 PM) I think that's the argument you make. Kopech could arguably be the best pitcher in the majors at some point. But really, Kopech's worst case scenario is that of a middle reliever*, being unable to consistently harness his control as a starter and proving ineffective, so I think you'd say his FV's range between 40/45 and 70. With Eloy, you're probably looking at a guy who has a chance to be among the most dangerous hitters in the league, but his worst case scenario is probably, what, average to slightly above average outfielder? So say his range is 50 to 65. You absolutely feel really safe about Eloy. And that's not including injuries. Pitchers end up getting TJ all the time anymore. That kills a full year of service time. Unless it's something terribly catastrophic (or, if you are Charlie Tilson, stepping out of your car), long-term injuries just don't seem to happen a lot, especially if said players keep in good shape. *- noting that, yes, there are injuries that can happen to any given player that can ruin their careers, but those are not to be expected I respect both of you guys a lot as posters but to be honest, I don't agree with any of this either. EDIT: Outside of the injury nugget.
  8. QUOTE (Superstar Lamar @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) and Kopech is not? Prospect wise people just happen to value Position players more than Starting Pitchers. I don't disagree with you at all here as Kopech to me is the best pitching prospect in baseball and Eloy is the best hitting prospect in baseball, just depends on how you value the two.
  9. Anybody really want a steak now?
  10. I obviously could be wrong but I don't think we have any intention of actually trading Jose. Now I'm sure Rick is asking around to see if he can get a Devers out of someone but he knows that's not going to happen and unless it did than Jose stays. Just my opinion.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 08:42 PM) You can't admit this board is EXTREMELY happy with anything the front office does? This is a pro front office message board. Because we didn't execute it right. Sox have had miserable guys in Buddy Bell on the organizational level and Robin Ventura as manager. They've arguably made some of the most bonehead acquisitions ever in trying to bring in guys to win. The ONLY way to win is not trade everybody and rebuild. Some teams with cash have done just fine in adding guys to buy a pennant. I personally think our front office gets a free pass on almost everything on here. I’m not going to justify this with an explanation since it doesn’t matter with you but no that’s my answer to your original question.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 04:36 PM) I put in a thoughtful post with Jose's stats the last 4 seasons and still get blasted. Hard to go against the group and not get roasted. I wish you guys would be like most team's fans and rip the front office more. What have they done since 2005 to earn patience from our fan base? I am not of the opinion our young guys have to suck a year or two before we are competitive. Folks, baseball is full of mediocre to bad teams. Why not us sooner rather than later to ... win? Put some heat on the front office to develop a bullpen. Dude...just...I don't know anymore.
  13. QUOTE (35thstreetswarm @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) ...or our 2015 Astros year -- another playoff team. Again, please feel free to stop me from elevating my expectations. You're not wrong...you're not right either. I've said this numerous times here but I think too many people have a hard timeline on when this thing takes off and that's of course if it ever does. The 2019 team is going to be ridiculously talented and it's also going to be ridiculously young. IMO they could be the 2015 Cubs/Astros, they could also be god freakin awful. This whole rebuild is still a giant question mark despite it looking pretty darn good so far. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they slip into the playoffs and win a World Series in 2019 and I wouldn't be surprised if this great core we think we put together never makes the playoffs. Nobody knows where this thing is going yet.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) Clay Travis started that rumor. Trying to save face. Ya and a bunch of others already shot down Travis' rumor cause it's stupid and Clay Travis is stuipd. EDIT: I'm just going to leave that typo there because calling someone stupid and then misspelling it is wonderful.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) It is interesting to see people coming around on the idea that the window really isn't going to be there for 2019, but more like 2020 or even 2021 in this case. I will not take this bait, I will not take this bait, I will not take this bait.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 02:54 PM) Only 3 years of control on Bradley turns me off a bit. But I suppose JBJ + Groome or Chavis + interesting flier or two could work. Why does that turn you off when it's more control than we have of Jose? I certainly understand wanting to hang onto Abreu but this seems like an odd reason to be turned off by JBJ.
  17. U mean he's like regressing to the mean?
  18. Every fan in the college sports threads complain about the refs. Amazing that the refs never actually help their team though.
  19. I mean dude was clearly worn down with the awful numbers he put up.
  20. Nah, making fun of Kyle is actually allowed on the site.
  21. Eye roll for the over use of a joke in one day.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Ban her. It's not even a crash I want to watch every year anymore. She needs to go, just stupid. Good ol' Zach on Twitter is really hyping up a CT and TO confrontation tonight.
