  1. One of those rare nights where it isn't a fun pitching lineup.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Jay Cutler is Javy Vasquez. Javy Vasquez is Jay Cutler. Tantalizing tools...mediocre results. I like this comparison QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) Sure but there are way more guys on the planet that can do what Javy Vazquez can do. Jay Cutler is like one of the 15-20 best QB's in the world. And agree with this too.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 04:20 PM) Collins did have an .900 OPS in July though .763
  4. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 04:00 PM) If you need "cowboys and indians" to enjoy something, more power to you. It's hilarious that you think people aren't allowed to like or dislike athletes because of something they do outside of their sport.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 03:23 PM) If the White Sox think he's a left handed Frank Thomas, taking him #1 wouldn't be considered stupid 20 years from now if they were correct. But a guy who could be Carlos Correa wouldn't be bad either. The thing is, Beer's bat will probably be ready by 2020. A HS SS probably will not, and you are going to have to trust the White Sox developmental team. A lot will happen between now and the draft. It will be interesting to see how they are lined up by the gurus next June. I agree with all of this. If Beer's bat is that damn good I have no issue picking him that high. But that's something we have to trust our scouts on.
  6. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) The point is, who cares? I don't watch Jon Jones fight because I think he may, or may not be, a decent human being. Most of these guys are idiot jocks, not role models. Ok thanks for telling me how to enjoy my sports.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) I don't know how well Kopech will end up taking Lopez + Giolito getting the call before him. He doesn't strike me as the type to be chill about that They started at a higher level than him, I'm sure he knew this was going to be the case. Even if he's not chill about it, he seems to be the type of dude that would just work harder because of it.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) Next year the big win with Kopech is him being healthy and getting to at least 160 innings. Pushing him to big leagues would make me lose considerable confidence in our player development. I don't understand this mind set. If he goes a few months next year with the continued improved walk rate what's the point of keeping him in the minor leagues? Best thing for his development will be to face the best competition and be with the best pitching coach in our organization.
  9. Broken freakin record. People are done hearing it because it's the stupidest freaking argument out there. You're complaining about something that doesn't hurt the organization at all. And you've been doing it for months.
  10. I don't think he breaks camp with the big league team either but I'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't see some major league time in 2018 even if it's in August or September.
  11. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 12:18 AM) ...and both are better, smarter, and more versatile players than Anderson, full stop. Thank God we gave Anderson a contract extension after one lucky season. Do you have any posts in the last few months besides whining about the very little money that we're paying Anderson?
  12. Why do we think Tim is struggling with self confidence? Anywho, I don't think sending him down the minors is the right thing to do.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 10:24 PM) Well it's basically a done deal - yall will get your wish. But i don't have to like it - particularly the sloppy play in achieving the #1 pick. You're something. Do you miss your heroes?
  14. Kopech was awesome when he was walking everyone. Now he's f***in terrifying.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:55 AM) I don't think Engel ever figures it out offensively and I would definitely play Luery over him in CF next year. And I honestly think Willy, Delmonico, & Cordell all deserve playing time over him in LF as well. Best case scenario IMO is Engel hits enough to be a solid 4th OF. I agree. That said, the point that his defense could help out our young pitchers is definitely a fair one.
  16. I like Kailah but she is terrible at drafting.
  17. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) Here's the problem. I fully expect Lopez & Giolito to be in the rotation to start next year along with Rodon. At some point, Kopech will force his way into rotation as well. Assumes all goes well (unlikely I know), that basically leaves one spot for Adams, Stephens, or Guerrero for 2018/2019 before Hansen & Dunning start pushing for spots. I think Adams will end up being a quality #4 starter, but it might not be with us. He'll need to grab any opportunity presented and run with it or else some of the higher ceiling guys will take his spot. Rodon might be trade bait at some point too. Obviously I don't know if that will happen but that could open up a rotation spot as well.
  18. I think all those ETA's are fair, Lillian. That said I think Burger is here before 2020. I really believe that dude is going to fly through the system. No clue if he's going to be a successful major leaguer or not but he's going to destroy the minors imo.
  19. Nicky should find plenty of at bats whether it's in left or dh'ing.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 06:19 PM) Yes and no. Players can go from high-A to the MLB in about half a season, so in that regard I would agree completely. On the other hand, the difference between high-A and AA seems to be the biggest jump of any within the minors, so you really begin to weed people out. I agree with all this. It really just depends on the player.
  21. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 01:07 PM) Our low levels are full of prospects. Upper levels there a smattering of prospects but a lot of filler. Gonna take awhile, longer than I had hoped. The upper levels have a ton of pitching prospects, position prospects not so much.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) Micker Adolfo hit a couple of dingers last night too. Amongst Sallie league leaders, he is 3rd in homers, tied for 3rd in 2b's, 5th in RBI, 11th in hits, 18th in SLG, 20th in OPS. Burger, Rutherford, Adolfo were taking turns having monster days while the site blew up. That Kanny offense is absurd.
  23. Luis Robert is good too. That's all that needs to be said I think.
  24. What is this? Where am I?
