  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:55 PM) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That 2nd sentence wasn't directed at you.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:52 PM) I'm just trying to be realistic. It's weird, too, considering how insane the talent we've gotten is, that we should be all up in arms for only getting one top 50 prospect for our relievers, lol. I mean, guys. As of today, this MIGHT be the most talent the Sox have EVER had in their system. You can't ask for more than that. Nobody is up in arms. Seriously, the only people freaking out about the deal are the ones telling the people who don't love it that they're wrong.
  3. Sox are telling media there's going to be an announcement but be patient. LOL.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:45 PM) Way over-valuing of our 3 + the huge hauls the Yanks got last year for Chapman/Miller = thinking we got fleeced. Is there one person here who thinks we got fleeced? There's some negative reaction on the overall deal(if the 4th player is who is rumored) but nobody here has freaked out even a little bit about the deal. Seems pretty level headed around here for the most part.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:39 PM) I just meant he's a trade asset we still have. Whether that is in the next two weeks or sometime next year, I don't expect Avi to be around in 2019. And with interesting but fringe OF options like Luery, Engel, Willy, & Delmonico ready for auditions, an argument can be made that it will be sooner rather than later. That's obviously a valid opinion. Just given the context of what people were talking about there, I think everyone thought you meant Avi was going to get traded in the next 2 weeks.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:33 PM) No prob, just responding to you calling him Miller/Jenks. Well that's almost what happened.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:33 PM) We just acquired another top 50 OF prospect, I think this signals Avi is as good as gone. None of the OF prospects are going to be in Chicago for a while. There's no rush on moving Avi.
  8. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:13 PM) Come on. Obviously the return matters, but we are absolutely overvaluing the pieces we're giving up here if you expect multiple top prospects to come back. It's not outrageous to want one more good piece when you're trading two very good relievers and taking back some money as well. I'm not going to flip out if the last piece isn't a top talent as I'll be thrilled to have Rutherford but overall the deal would feel a little light to me. It's possible that some people overvalued Kahnle or Robertson but it's also possible some of you guys are undervaluing them, who knows. Like I said, I'll be thrilled to have Blake but overall not going to be thrilled about the deal.
  9. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:09 PM) I guess Andrew Miller went from some bum who couldn't figure anything out to a guy who turned into the best reliever in the game overnight. Not like a slight mechanical tweak could make that difference. Oh, and Jake Arrieta, he was just some back of the rotation fodder to Cy Young winner with what amounted to a slight mechanical tweak. Hell, let's go back 12 years. The White Sox claimed a fireball pitcher off waivers named Bobby Jenks. He worked with Coop a bit in Spring Training, converted to a reliever, and closed out the most important game in White Sox history in 88 years. No, a slight mechanical tweak doesn't mean s***. Matt Thornton was pretty terrific pre White Sox and mechanic adjustment as well.
  10. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) Sale sells tickets. As confirmed by the fact the team has better attendance this year.
  11. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 10:02 PM) Thank you. Literally anything we get for players we don't need and salary we can dump is a win. There's literally 0 reason to salary dump at this point. And Drob and Kahnle both have value whether it's to the Sox winning ball games or not. Should have traded Sale for nothing since he had no value to us.
  12. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:54 PM) I don't understand why Clippard is such a negative. He isn't owed much money. What's the problem? No problem with him except the fact he's not another top talent. I think most want one more other top talent back, everyone is ok taking Clippard on.
  13. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:44 PM) Alec Hansen, no no thru 5IP. That happened like 5 hours ago.
  14. Obviously no issues taking on money but that better mean there's some more talent coming as well.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:25 PM) Have we decided he's bad now? I hadn't paid attention since the "anyone is better than Ventura" days Every manager we'll ever have we'll be considered bad here. That's not a shot at anyone, that's just sports message boards in a nut shell.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 09:20 PM) 1) Maybe Kopech 2) Who f***ing cares? 1. Definitely no 2. Correct
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:58 PM) What the hell?! I've been trying to follow this at the gym. I should have just stayed home. That's what you get for trying to be healthy.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:41 PM) Lol, Torres was acquired for a bullpen arm. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but let's not use relievers being the reason why. One of these years people will learn not to say so and so isn't being moved. Certainly not saying we'd get Torres in this deal but who the hell knows.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:39 PM) US??? We don't overreact here. Non Sense, Fathom, NON SENSE
  20. Wouldn't be shocked if the hold up here is how much money the Sox are picking up of Rob's contract. EDIT: As i type this I realize it's the f***in Yankees, so maybe not.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:30 PM) Call me crazy, but what if Hahn and Cashman have been having ongoing conversations about Robertson and it came up as "what would it take for us to get Torres?" And Cashman said Frazier and Kahnle? The Yanks still have Gregorious through 2020 and he's turned into a pretty damn good player. I don't think that would happen BUT for all 3 I don't think it's completely 100 percent out of the equation either.
