  1. Barcelo broke too cause he was freakin electric at one point as well.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 06:20 PM) Some boring leadoff hitter on Charlotte singled Dude is yesterday's news.
  3. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 06:10 PM) When giving up a talent and value like Jose Quintana, I would think the Sox should have gotten at least one player back that is just about MLB ready. I wish that along with Cease and Jimenez the Sox would have gotten back someone like Candelario or Happ or Schwarber. I know Jimenez is a highly rated prospect as is Cease, but being so far away from the major leagues makes them a very risky return for a proven talent like Q who is under control with such a reasonable contract. I know I'm almost alone in my opinion by the ecstatic reaction of almost everyone here to the trade. I wonder if the Seattle fans were this excited when the Mariners acquired Jeremy Reed + for Freddy Garcia, who was to become a free agent. Again, not knocking the potential of Jimenez and Cease, just would have liked at least one proven major league ready player to go along with them for a proven commodity like Quintana, one of the best and most consistent left handed starters in baseball signed to a bargain contract for several more years. First off, nothing you're saying is unreasonable. Second, I disagree completely. If we were trying to win next season I'd be a little bit more on board with what you're saying but given that the Sox aren't trying to compete next year either you just go for the best talent possible here and not worry quite as much where they're at in their development path.
  4. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 06:11 PM) Flete single, won the trade Dickman double, Flete out at home. Ha. That didn't take long.
  5. Absolutely f'n loved Q and still will. Wish that dude nothing but the best and can't wait to see him come down here and beat up on the Cards.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:43 PM) I don't even mind someone arguing that is the case! I just cannot stand when someone waves a hand at me without ever engaging in a discussion of why they disagree. I agree. Just like anything an argument to any case is fair but there's been plenty of people(and like I said some of my favorite posters here too) that continue to think they absolutely know who is and isn't available when in reality, nobody does. It's just become a Soxtalk pet peeve of mine.
  7. As long as Oldsox thinks we finally cracked the top 20 then I'm cool.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) I love your posts, but I have to admit, this comes off as a bit presumptuous. Why should that be the goal? We've seen some crazy s*** just happen. Now we're going to immediately go back to saying that we're all crazy? Seriously though, all of us here need to stop pretending that we know what is and isn't available. A lot of my favorite posters on this site have been doing this and it's been driving me nuts. Nobody knows what every GM is willing or not willing to give up.
  9. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) What dont you like about Cease? His numbers look fantastic to me Some people see him as a reliever. Stuff is nasty though and so are the numbers so that shouldn't even be a thought yet.
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) so in addition to having a stacked farm system - also keep on mind how absolutely little money we have tied up beyond in 2018 and beyond Yuuuup
  11. Who knows if he'll ever be a good major leaguer but you get the feeling Jake is just going to fly through the minors.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 08:10 PM) I'd be willing to bet you a keg of beer he becomes a pretty nice NBA player...starter or 6th man type. He might, I could also see him being a guy that plays 5 minutes a game because his team is playing 4 on 5 on offense with him out there. Like I said, not defending the trade at all as it was completely moronic and even more annoying but I'm not going to freak out about Bell just yet.
  13. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 07:43 PM) I know it doesn't *really* matter, but I'd like to see Burger batting higher than 5th. He's the best prospect in that lineup and they should be trying to maximize the number of PA's that he gets. It doesn't matter but the thing is there's no reason not to do it either.
  14. The trade was completely stupid but the legend of Jordan Bell is pretty crazy already.
  15. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) Smoked the ball in his AB It's that babip regression. Nice to see him out there, he definitely deserves it.
  16. Also the Enzo and Cass stuff has been terrific. I was so tired of them so didn't think I'd care about the split at all but they've both been awesome.
  17. Brian doesn't like Hero or the Bucks. I need new friends.
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 06:47 AM) Now I remember. Tax savings. Robert signs a deal for $26 Million, Sox get another similar bill for some tax, and now the White Sox biggest concern is Robert's tax return. This tax saving concept sucked from day one. Here is what you do: 1. Pay the tax owed. 2. Move to the US. So, instead, this mega - wealthy 19 year old is hanging around the DR with money coming out of his pockets, dealing with whomever, playing once a week on some sand lot. He predictably hurts himself and goes to the local witch doctor for medical attention. He should be over here getting big league instruction, playing as often as possible, and getting better as quickly as possible. But No. We need to save taxes. What do we do to save taxes in 2018? Keep him in the DR again? Isn't this what crazy people do? Same thing over and over. What did Red Sox do when they signed Moncada to similar deal two years ago? They moved him the the US, put him on the Low A roster, and played him. Tax savings. $26 Mill is not enough. We have to save his taxes, too. Good lord.
  19. Can confirm that Kyle has never hated anyone in his life more than he hates Charlie Tilson.
  20. Guerrero is just having a ridiculous year.
  21. 7 inning, 8 k's and 0 walks and earned for Dane now.
  22. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) Dane Dunning pitching another gem. 5 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 5 K's, 0 BB. Through 6 with 0 earned, 6k's and no walks. ERA under 3 in Winston now. Talk about making an adjustment.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Going to be emotional seeing Rodon pitch after he was part of the In Memoriam to start the season. John Cena like recovery skills to get back from that 2-3 year projection time.
