  1. This is honestly one of the games I thought the Cavs would steal...ya idk anymore.
  2. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) Is that just below Poor superior? (just kidding by the way, I thought the terminology is funny) Haha it deserved to be made fun of. Not sure why I worded it that way.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 1, 2017 -> 12:00 PM) I dont think they really assessed Dexter Fowlers true value correctly, which is really surprising to me. Both his defense and top of the order offense were exactly what this team is missing right now. Thinking Schwarber could just step in and lead off and provide the same offensive production was incredibly arrogant I think they made the right move with Fowler. I'm sure their assessing of the situation was that he had a career year at the age of 30, was going to get paid for it and they had a ready to go fill in with Almora who at the very least is going to be a better defender. If they could have kept the 2016 Fowler forever then I'm sure they would have but I'm guessing they thought he was going to regress back to his good but not great career path and wouldn't be worth what he's getting paid(considering they have Almora) and so far that seems to be correct.
  4. I think it's fair to mention just how young some of these guys are too. They're really a victim of their own success(es) right now. Russell may never be a super star but he's still only 23. Maybe Schwarber is going to be a complete bust but he also just turned 24 and missed a whole season due to injury. I honestly don't believe this year's Cubs team is all that great because their pitching is super mediocre in my mind but if I had to guess, I'd bet Russell and Schwarber will be just fine in the long run.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 31, 2017 -> 11:28 PM) I would give Mike Trout a 10 year, $500 million contract and never think twice. You are one rich man.
  6. Burdi allowed a lead off hit but struck out 2 in a scoreless inning. Hopefully that helps get him back on track.
  7. Rey through 6. 1 earned, 6 k's, 1 walk.
  8. Kopech's day is done. 5.2, 10 k's, 4 walks and 4 hits. 0 Earned runs as of now.
  9. I'm guessing he gets the whole year in Birmingham before starting next year in Charlotte. No where near 100 percent certain on that but that'd be my guess.
  10. I really, really wish if Delmonico is staying in aaa that he'd get more reps in the outfield.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 31, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) High strikeout pitchers are prone to high pitch counts. Just the way it goes. Especially ones that still have some control issues. Once he hopefully reduces the walks a bit the pitch count should reduce a bit as well.
  12. Kopech and Rey came to play.
  13. Meanwhile Gonsalves is dominating Birmingham too.
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 31, 2017 -> 07:42 PM) Long term I think he slots in nicely at 6/7 in a good lineup. I'd agree. I was fine with him batting lead off last year because it created a nice little spark but he's obviously not a long term lead off hitter. Kid has some pop and should slot nicely into the 6(or 7) spot in the order long term.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 31, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Is there is a starting pitching prospect in the minors with a higher ceiling? Absolutely not. Not guaranteeing he's going to be a stud or anything but he's got the highest ceiling of any minor league pitcher by a long shot imo.
  16. Trey is absolutely destroying the ball as of late too.
  17. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ May 31, 2017 -> 06:53 PM) I don't know how to respond to this. I guess I have higher aspirations. We all do but he's a work in progress. If he's still a "mess" come August I'll be much more concerned. He's got a long way to go but he's seemingly making progress.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 31, 2017 -> 06:13 PM) ? I mean I get he only went 4 innings, but he gave up no walks and threw roughly 2/3 of his pitches for strikes. He also didn't give up any homeruns. Unless they were hard hits, I'd actually consider this a promising start all things considered. Ya certainly not great but not the worst start in the world either. Bats are doing work in Charlotte. 3 walks for Yoan too.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ May 31, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) Would really be something to get stellar performances from all our nats acquisitions in a single night. 3 no hitters from them and a 15 k performance from Kopech. Simple enough.
  20. That's one absurd pitching lineup for the night. Yeesh.
  21. You can make a legit case he's been the best 1b so far in the AL this season.
  22. There's definitely no reason for GSW to lose this series but I'm not counting out LeBron. I'm intrigued.
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 30, 2017 -> 03:31 PM) I'm sure getting him out really would send the message the pitcher wanted to convey to him. Ooooo, I got you to ground to the second baseman, i showed you! I don't agree with what he did as far as the retaliation in this case. however, i don't have a problem with it as long as he doesn't throw a true beanball at his head. If they want to throw at the hitter, it's fine as long as it's below the shoulders. Instead, it's I can't get you out so I'm going to hit you with a fastball. That's good stuff.
  24. Would have loved to see Bryce kick his ass but alas Harper can't throw a punch or a helmet.
  25. You can definitely make a case that Jose has been the best 1b in the AL so he should get some real consideration.
