QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) Eaton is crushing it right now. I think the Nats are quite happen they made the deal they did make. Prospect evaluators loved the deal for the Sox, but that is because everyone viewed Gio as being this can't miss prospect...reality is there is a lot of work/risk related to Gio and that in and of itself lowers the deal. Eaton is proving last season wasn't a fluke and he has been extremely valuable for the Nats. OPS is above where it was last year, OBP right around .400 (and this is coming off a bit of a slump). Signed for a long time at a bargain rate. They do need to get him back to a corner outfield spot where his defense goes back to being a major plus...but that will likely happen next year. I think even more so than that it's the fact that Eaton isn't a "name" so people didn't realize what they were trading for in him. Him crushing it to start the season is a good way to settle down the public outrage and I'm guessing that isn't much of an issue anymore.

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 23, 2017 -> 08:25 PM) No better way to prove a point than to take your ball and go home with some nice hyperbole mixed in I know, right?

Super disappointed in myself for coming in this thread when I said i wouldn't before the offseason. Oh well, fire Hoiberg and this roster prolly gets us to the finals.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 23, 2017 -> 07:53 PM) You have the avatar of a 10 year old girl And proud of it!

Would love to run this back next year with the same team with a different coach and have the exact same results. But agreed f*** Hoiberg cause reasons.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 23, 2017 -> 07:47 PM) I've grown tired of Stacey King on commentary. Took this long? Holy hell that signature is awful!

QUOTE (Tony @ Apr 23, 2017 -> 07:22 PM) This game is drunk You're drunk.

You guys should all hop on the "anyone but the Blues" bandwagon for my sake. Thanks.

Two more hits, a walk and no k's for Roman. I'm becoming enthralled with that dude because he's such a different prospect.

QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 05:09 PM) I'm not buying the accusation that the Sox have a bad organization since they have not made the playoffs for ten years. And how convenient to create the artificial time frame beginning when they won the WS. Compare a larger sample size...say 100 years. One World Series Championship for the cubs in over 100 years, and that was a lucky win in the 10th inning of game seven, or they would still be looking for one of them. Bad organization? Frankly I do not like old Joe Ricketts and the dirty Wall Street money he brought into Chicago, the demolition of the bleachers, the ridiculous scoreboards, or the over development at the small tract of land on Clark. The Sox are in good financial shape right now and are not burdened with bloated player contracts for older under-performing players. THAT is why they are in a great position to go after a player like Robert and they will. If the bidding gets crazy, they will pass. This guy may just be an over-hyped Yasiel Puig once he faces major league pitching. Cause quite frankly s*** that happened 100 years ago has nothing to do with this current product. But if you really want to dig into how successful the Sox have been in the last 100 years(from a baseball stand point)...well ya don't.

Ya, this is one of those things in my life where I remember exactly where I was. So strange.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 11:09 AM) Just very disappointed for Rondo. Is it his shooting dominant hand? Yes.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 10:31 AM) To be fair, I'd rather only make the playoffs once and win the World Series in said season than be like the Nationals or Dodgers. We didn't win the World Series in said season in this example. Like I said, I'm mostly in agreement with ptatc's overall point but the Sox have been a really, really bad organization since 05, there's not much of an argument there.
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 10:21 AM) how many of the other 27 clubs have gone 9 years since making the playoffs as well? How many have not won a World Series since 2005? I guess you would include all of them in the culture of losing as well. I'm with you for the most part but I wouldn't go down this rabbit hole ha. The Sox are one of like 3 teams iirc since 2005 to have only made the playoffs once. They're in some awful company.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 08:48 AM) Was it a bad idea? I think it was fine. You had Ashley and Nicole in the finals after 2-3 episodes? It was a bad idea to read spoilers for the whole season before it aired. And pre reading spoilers I would have guessed Nicole had a good chance, Ashley not so much.

QUOTE (southside guru @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 07:59 AM) a couple of questions... 1) Should Booker, Fisher, and Roman continue to hit well and Dunning, Flores, Lambert pitch well for Kannapolis, will they stay there all season? 2) Is there value in them moving to Birmingham instead of WS? They're all college guys with advanced approaches! 1. There will be some movement for sure. 2. I also like challenging guys against higher competition but I know a lot of people here don't like "rushing" prospects so you'll get varying answers here.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 06:35 AM) Yep. Still bottom 10. Where's that damn eye roll emoticon?

QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Apr 21, 2017 -> 07:45 AM) A better question is: "Do the Cardinals (or Pads or Reds) have an owner who is on record as being against spending money on prospects?" A lot of us(including myself) never thought the Sox would go into rebuilding mode and here we are. I obviously have no clue if we're going to sign him but we're going to be very much involved in this.

Danish is one of those fringy prospects I'd like to see up in the majors this year to see if there's actually anything there. So he's got my vote for first guy up.
-
Roman continuing to hit.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) 4 of which were played over 3 months ago, but yeah, it's still not Washington or Anaheim. Either way, if they win tonight, their game 5 & 6 playoff record under coach Q is like 245-1 (est.) , so it's not over. That's the beauty of hockey, these series are never over until the 4th game is actually won. Obviously the Hawks have a big hole to dig themselves out of but who the hell knows.

Game time.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) Sounds like a fun way to watch. :eyeroll I watched like the first 2 or 3 episodes and stopped because I knew what was happening. Just a bad idea.

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 10:25 PM) So what I gather from Giolito is that he gets tired easily? That was his first time into the 6th inning this year so he still is probably getting stretched out. As others have said, he's definitely a work in progress at this point but there were a lot of positives to come out of yesterday's start.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 19, 2017 -> 06:34 PM) collins really struggling at the plate lately. No fisher or call again. Anyone know how Giolito has looked? Sitting 93-95 supposedly which is good news. Numbers look good so far.
