  1. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 01:39 AM) Im not high on Anderson, either. I think he's just another strikeout commando, which will lead him to peak as a middle infield bench player. Sure, he can catch, and he can run. But that will mean exactly Jack and s*** if he can't get on base. I absolutely HATE this moronic idea that speedy strikeout commandos should be batted high in the order. Nothing about his game suggests that he'll ever be able to get on base enough to EARN the leadoff spot. Of course, this means that this stupid organization will bat him first as he Ks his way to a craptacular .280 OBP, which will hurt the entire lineup, & the trade prospects for everyone else in it. Is commando the new hero worshipping?
  2. I just don't think you worry about any specific position yet. Just collect the most talent possible. If a top catcher comes available then great, if not, you worry about that later.
  3. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Sounds like they are just trying to get the best talent available for the most part. Yup. They're not trying to win next year so just collecting the best possible talent and they'll sort it out later.
  4. And my dumbass is coming into Chicago this weekend. Good job, Row.
  5. He's got a long way to go but he's proven he can adjust and get better at every level. He's a guy I expect to keep developing more and more and getting better and better.
  6. Dude got paid off a career year at 30. He's a solid player but I'm not giving him that kind of deal.
  7. I'm getting a package of players for Q. Trading Q in a 1 for 1 deal doesn't make any sense.
  8. I miss any new news or rumors on Davey boy?
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) there is nobody that can fall upwards quite like Kiffin He's going to end up having the most head coaching jobs in the history of sports.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) Anyone expect Q to get dealt today? Never know but I don't expect it.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) Rick Hahn has a feedback guy. My guess is its Marty34 and Rick is a sadist. This is my favorite part of the offseason so far.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:48 AM) SportsMockery I think which would mean he has absolutely NO CREDIBILITY at all. Same dude that said we were far along in discussions with the Astros yesterday about Q.
  13. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) The Sox have never done a full tear down and rebuild in the time I've been a Sox fan (early 90s as a kid) and while there has been an obvious, overt resistance to the idea from Reinsdorf and Kenny Williams, I always sensed from other Sox fans that they felt the fanbase wouldn't want to bother with it either. But so far in the past 48 hours I've seen mostly excitement, people are ready to get this started and see it through properly. What do y'all think? Am I off base here? There's no doubt that this fan base was ready for the rebuild and mostly everyone is super excited about it. That said, you can bet in a year or two there's going to be plenty of meatheads that turn on it rather quickly. It's obviously the right thing to do though and I can only speak for myself but I'm super excited to see this thing through.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) I hope he fails again but OTOH I like Houston. Ha, I pretty much had the exact same thought.
  15. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:12 PM) What blowback do you mean? The Nationals for giving up a monster haul? The media and Nats fans have been absolutely killing the deal from the Nats perspective. People in general don't like giving up top end prospects for guys they don't perceive as star players.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:05 PM) You dare doubt the evil empire?!?! The Dodgers?!?
  17. Yankees could seemingly be a good fit for Q or Nate. Breaking news I know.
  18. Ya I don't think either the Yanks or Cubs are complaining about that trade.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 08:12 PM) I cannot believe this return. Giolito is the #3 prospect in the entire game. Lopez #13. Dunning was the Nat's first rounder just last year. All of that for Adam freaking Eaton. Thank God for advanced stats showing that the slappy, oft-injured outfielder was a +6 fWAR last year. Also, you know Dusty Baker loves his grind factor. The Sox will wake up tomorrow with the top system in all of baseball and three huge assets left in Quintana, Frazier, and Robertson to deal off. The future is much brighter today than it was 2 days ago. You've had a weird take on some of the Sox current(and now ex) players the last few days. Adam Eaton isn't a slap hitter.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) No, I'd rather them learn their f***ing lesson versus doing the same damn crap that just failed. You're entitled to your opinion on the rebuild and the two trades but this is just wrong. Just factually incorrect.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:41 PM) I caught that too. I don't trust the television when twitter is around ha. Seriously though...
  22. I'm obviously willing to trade Abreu if it's in the right package but I almost feel like the right move is to hold on to him and see if he can have a monster first half before flipping him.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) I'm sure that's why lots of Nats fans are pissed. They don't think all-star when the name Adam Eaton pops up. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) Was just thinking that. I flipped on MLB Network and they are basically killing the Nats. If Eaton is batting leadoff for the 1st place Nats, the national media will start to understand his value more. Exactly. I love the move for the Sox but I definitely see what the Nats are doing. That said it is a bit weird since he's going to be playing center this year but hey they got their Bryce replacement in right field too I guess.
  24. Just to be a party pooper(not really) but the media is of course going to love this deal for the Sox. Eaton just isn't a big name and since he doesn't put up huge offensive numbers there are going to be a ton of people that don't love the deal, especially when a guy like Giolito who has been a big name prospect on is on the move for the Nats.
