  1. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) First its Neifi Perez to the Tigers when Placido Polanco went down with an injury . Now its Phil Nevin to the Twins. Is this the Tribune Co. trying to protect its investment by sabotaging the Sox chances by sending players to our rivals to make the playoffs? Well if Neifi and Phil doom our playoff chances then we most likely didn't belong in the hunt to begin with.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 07:35 AM) FWIW, the family was cleared twice. Yep the family was cleared twice I am 99.9% positive the family had nothing to do with this. If this was some kind of family conspiracy with outside help there would have been a trail.
  3. Gay Marriage Ban in AZ Older Article but today the Arizona Supreme Court upholds this ruling
  4. The State of Arizona decided to let Utah have him and since they have much harsher penalties this was expected.
  5. Mother fights for Justice after 22 years. After 22 suspect caught. What I liked about this is the fact that she never gave up. This should actually be in SLM not the fillbuster. If I could get a mod to change it would be good.
  6. I still think Jim Peterson can pull the upset of Kyl here in Arizona his very pro Bush record is coming back to hurt him. And his huge pro big oil record of getting them tax breaks and all of the money he has received from the oil companies while AZ residents are paying close to $3.00 a gallon isn't sitting well. Also governor Napolitano is leading the democratic ticket and is uber popular so she will bring democratic voters to the polls as well.
  7. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) I havent seen it but I like what they are doing with the moving field crap or whatevr. That way you can use real grass indoors and the difference is huge between that and turf. It comes on movable palets and is real easy to move. Also the roof will be open for most of the later games and the MNF game.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) I've got a cool picture of the stadium mid construction as we're going past on the 101 Freeway (think it's call that, may be wrong). It makes the Glendale Ice Hall look tiny in comparison. Yes that is the 101 AKA Aqua Fria
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) Little early, no? Yep, But I was just told about and I don't have a very good memory so I decided to post now so I wouldn't forget.
  10. If so I might be able to get discounts through the Sidewinders and there host hotel in Tucson. Tom
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 30, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) Guilty verdict in N.D. student's death FARGO, N.D. - A federal jury found a convicted sex offender guilty Wednesday in the kidnapping and killing of college student Dru Sjodin, whose body was found abandoned in Minnesota a ravine. The verdict clears the way for the first death penalty deliberations in North Dakota in more than a century. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060830/ap_on_...n_student_trial We were studying this case in investigation class. It appears that the defense's strategy was to question what state Dru died in. It somehow they could prove that she died in North Dakota then the feds would not have been able to try him, it would have been left up to state charges and ND does not have a death penalty. From the verdict though it looks like the defense was turned down.
  12. Bears will be coming to a full house at new Cardinal stadium on October 16th. I am still hoping to get a ticket. If you guys haven't seen it yet you will be impressed.
  13. Jeffs Caught He tried to lie his way out of trouble but good police work seems to be the key here.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) Sad. Just heard on the radio that a Joliet Jackhammer pitcher and his wife, WHO GOT MARRIED YESTERDAY, were killed on the plane. Awful. He was Diamondback pitcher Brandon Webb's best friend and Webb was scheduled to be at his Wedding but had to be in Phoenix to pitch.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) Good for Young, but not sure how much he is going to get done ridding the pine.... Is the D'Backs AAA team done? Now that our home season is done I can finally breath again we played 10 games in 7 days to finish the home season. Our team was special we still have Hairston,Barden,Carter left. And a very good signing of Jon Webber has helped he still talks about that massive homer he hit of Bobby Jenks last year. I hate the way Dback manager Melvin is handling things Drew,Quentin,Young should be playing everyday instead he is playing washed up Craig Counsell and Tony (K or homer) Clark.
  16. Kevin Harvick your race winner at the AMD @ the Glen. I went and seen it Tuesday and it is good.
  17. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) but don't all the teams have to deal with losing guys to september call ups. You are right on. Here in Tucson we have the same problem our AAA team was loaded could have beat several MLB teams but callups of Drew, Quentin, Pena, Callaspo, Hairston and soon for Young, Carter, Barden and of course Jose Valverde. There is no way these players will step out on the field for the Sidewinders come playoff time if they did the line of protesters in Phoenix would be a mile long waiting at Josh Byrnes office.
  18. I think it will either be the Houston bunch or the Dbacks.
  19. QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:08 AM) Yeah, that one is never called, and it happens all the time. It's easy to tell people don't know the balk rules -- just listen to the crowd anytime the pitcher makes a move to second. They think it's a balk. Yep or the third to first move the fans scream balk every time. Here at the minor league level many balks are missed by the umpires and one of our own pitchers Arnie Munoz used to balk a ton as a starter for Bham in 04 I would say almost every game he started the opposing manger or one of the coaches would be tossed because of a missed Munoz balk.
  20. Underated Player: Brandon Webb (Dbacks) Manager: Joe Girardi (Marlins) GM: Josh Byrnes (Dbacks) Overated Player Kerry Wood (Cubs) Manager: F. Alou (Giants) GM: Billy Beane (A's)
  21. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) He will come down and crash, just like Jeff Francoeur. Well I have seen them both play. Jeff Francouer problem is he never walks and he will chase that outside pitch and try to pull it all day long. I have no idea why any pitcher would throw him a strike. Either has walked 22 times to go with 52 K's compared with 11 and 95 for Jeff in about one month shorter time.
  22. I am glad we just got rid of him. Never wanted to pitch for us anyways and made it abundantly clear several times. Glad we got something out of him.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Mock was the 7th best prospect in the DBacks system, as rated by BA, before the season. He's struggled this year a little bit(4.90 ERA, 135 H, 13 HR, 111 K, 48 BB in 125 IP), but he's 23 so he's still probably a decent prospect. Chico was having a very good year in A(2.22 ERA, 62 H, 6 HR, 63 K, 21 BB in 81 IP), was then promoted to AA and produced pretty well there as well(3.75 ERA, 48 H, 5 HR, 49 K, 11 BB in 50.1 IP), and he too is 23, so the Nats got a pretty good return for a pitcher having a bad year. And you guys are trying to tell me Garcia and Vazquez have no value. It's a decreased value, but they have value all the same. This was a good deal for us. We had plenty of prospects in the system we needed someone eho could eat some innings and Livan is a workhorse. The innings are starting to take a toll on our bullpen. Chico is the was the person I hated to see us give up but to get something you have to give up something. Mock was 7th coming into the season but he wouldn't be in the top 15 at midseason.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) Broadway just keeps on rolling That was a great matchup Broadway vs one of our best pitching best prospects in Ohlendorf a pitching matchup I would pay to see. Only hitter lance had problem with was Jamie D'Antona (4-4 HR).
