QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 07:40 PM) Bring it on home, BHAM. The D-backs are the team I want the Cubs to face in round 1. They match-up extremely well with those bums. 2 on 2 out Matsui up

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) 4.30 era with a 1.31 whip in his rookie season? Not too shabby. Owings in his last 2 starts has been almost unhittable. 9/18 SF 9IP 0R 2H 1BB 5K's faced one over the min. (RBI 2B) 9/27 PIT 6.2IP 0R 4H + 4-4 3 2B's and 3 RBI

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 05:45 PM) I'm not even getting into the "should it be debated" or "CHRIS YOUNG!" portion. I just don't believe that we would be going, "HEY, KW SHUD HAVE TR8ED FOR JAVY!" if we hadn't traded for him. Why would we? People don't often do that, especially not coming off a Series with a "bright future" ahead of them and McCarthy waiting and all that. Especially since he wasn't THAT hot last year, in totality, and who knows what he would've done in another city if we hadn't gotten him. Seems like a huge stretch to say, "We'd be mad about not getting Javy!" Right. Maybe KW could have waited out Josh Brynes a little longer and got a better deal but It is hard to say. I do find it interesting if CY can pull off 4 more steals he will be the first rookie to go 30-30 in his first season. I also picked up my first round tickets against what looks to be the Cubs today.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Umm, why would we constantly talk about a trade he didn't make? that kind of thing doesn't happen all that often. I doubt people would be pining for Javier Vazquez if he hadn't been traded for. Not that he hasn't been good this season, but for you to say, "we'd constantly hear..." seems off. It amazes me that this trade is still being debated. As I have said before this trade has worked out well for both teams. Young has done more than anyone outhere in AZ ever expected and Javy has (outside of Mark B) been one of the most consistant and better pitchers for the Sox's. After nearly 2 years I wouldn't think this trade will still be debated the way it still is.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) Did Mike Cameron just get hurt? Atkins hit an ITP homer, and he was removed from the play. The Rockies are sure playing some good baseball. Bradley stepped on his hand as they collided.

I think the Dbacks would match up well with the Cubs. I say this because our weakness is giving up the long ball, the Cubs are not a power hitting team The Crew on the other hand would give us fits.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 07:52 AM) Another violent crime committed by someone who shouldn't have been here in the first place. He had been deported several times and kept coming back. This time he won't be coming back.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 08:47 PM) I had no idea this guy, in the Linebrink trade, was doing so well. This just pisses me off even more. WHarris...this has the chance to be the worst type of baseball day possible. Cubs win, Sox win, Brewers lose, Az wins, SD loses, Phils lose. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/8076 Hairston hits a 2 out 3 run walkoff for SD. -
Scott Hairston hit a huge 3 run walk off against Pittsburgh tonight. Arizona stays one game up on the Pads and goes to 3 1/2 up on Philly.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 08:09 PM) Did anybody else hear Kasper and Brenly b****ing about how the Brewers were gonna miss Oswalt and Williams (and his 5.04 ERA)? Somebody should tell Brenly and Kasper that Milwaukee will not miss Peavy, Maddux and Young.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) This is a case where if you find those who are guilty, as soon as they are found guilty, they go out back and shoot them. People like this deserve no chance and no remorse. He would be the type where if I was in control of "work assignments" portion of security I would place the biggest mouths on that detail and conveniently leave the file of this guy to where they could see it. Then they will inform the other inmates and they will have fun with him.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Brandon Webb has now given up 18 runs over his last 32 innings. Needless to say, we all need him to get back on track if the DBacks want to be considered the favorites if the play the Cubs in the NLDS. There is some correlation between Webb running the bases and the pitching the next inning. Both times he ran the bases tonight he gave up 2 runs the following inning (for his 4 total in 7 innings. The other 5 innings the Giants managed only a bunt single. The 6 runs he gave up in SD both occurred after he had hustle (1 hit) down to first. I think if I were Melvin I would tell Webb take 3 strikes and head back to the dugout.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) neat signature BHAM I would love to take full credit but I had help creating it. looking at your link got me thinking about a Robin Williams line "Politicans are like diapers and need to be changed just as often" And another line "We shouldn't vote for our leaders we should pick them like we do for juries"

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) You shouldn't make the mistake of assuming that someone didn't or wouldn't do something just because you've seen a few nice things out of them first hand. It isn't because they were nice and I should have stated it better. What I should have said is I have seen these guys in action and some of these mistakes they talk about in this article just do not seem very practical. Could it have happen sure but I have a hard time with it. The story I have always heard was the team was undercover, they received what they believed were credible reports that Delfino had mass collection of illegal weapons (enough to fight a small war). The team spotted someone who was suspected of drug/illegal smuggling operations, so they got a warrant and raided the place. The brakes failed on the "car" and crushed a car and a dog died in the fire and that was it.

Have a hard time with this story, during my CJ volunteering I have spent a lot of time with members of the MCSO (Maricopa County Sheriff's Office) and they don't seem like they would take part in something like this, they are very professional. If this was just sheriff Joe I would believe it in a heartbeat, however the author refers to the MCSO as " inept bumbling squad" and that just is not the case. In July I got a tour of Tent City and the heat was next to unbearable. The first sign you see going into the facility is the soldiers in Iraq and the quote "If the soldiers in Iraq have to deal with these conditions and why should criminals different treatment" The day I went there we went into the freezer where they keep the food, our class all noticed that is was warm inside there and the answer we got from the correctional officers was the "attendance must have forgot to lower the temp".

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) Who was on the better end of these deals? I'd give them credit if they released this guys to make a point but they traded them away and got equal return. Glaus was a salary dump and they got a pretty good return in Hudson. Wasn't Grimsley still active on their roster when he was arrested? And that was what was so good about these deals AZ was still able to get solid value in return. With the problems Jerry C made by back rolling salaries and taking loans, if we cut Glaus I am not sure we could have paid him plus his replacement and other holes. By 2009 all back rolled salaries should be payed and there was some good ones on that list; Omar Daal, Bernard Gilkey, Kelly Stinnett among 10 others. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 10, 2007 -> 07:59 AM) Before everybody breaks an arm patting the D-Backs on the shoulder and giving them kudos, don't forget the one fact that proves they are full of garbage. Luis Gonzalez, he and his 57 home runs, THAT Luis Gonzalez, was the star offensive player of their World Title team and had the game winning hit in game 7. Without his juiced up feats that season, they never even get to the World Series. So let's just slow down here. I know a different group was running things then, but I refuse to give an organization who won a title 6 years ago with a juicer as BY FAR their best offensive player much credit. As I said earlier the old group owned by Jerry C seemed to sweep things like this under the rug, the new group has taken a good stand on this and that I applaud them for. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 07:49 PM) That's funny, cause check out Arizona's best hitter the year they won the WS. If you are referring to Luis Gonzalez he was shown (rudely) the door last off season. Moorad and Kendrick have taken a hard line on suspected users and they floated his name to the press last year and were nearly burned in effigy.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) 12/14/05. Arizona ships out Javier Vazquez to Chicago for Orlando Hernandez, Luis Vizcaino, and Chris Young. (Vazquez did demand a trade...but since you asked). I would be shocked if Javy is one. His trade like you said was something that was going to happen so I would be shocked. Some of the names mentioned: Troy Glaus (12-2005) Alex Cintron (3-2006) Brad Halsey (3-2006) -

This Glaus story reminded me of a comment made in papers here in AZ by Jeff Moorad the part owner of the Dbacks "Since our group took over we have secretly traded away several players that we suspected of steriod use" There tenor started at the end of 2004 through the comment made in June of 2006. One of trades was the Glaus trade so it made me wonder who else they "shipped out" in between 9-2004 and 6-2006. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) Based on what? His minor league numbers say he is very capable of it. That is what I think makes our Dbacks real dangerous. We have so many 1st season players and most of them are going through the growing pains yet we still have 71 wins. Again I will say it the trade worked out good for everyone; Javy, The Sox's and the D'Backs.

QUOTE(iamshack @ Aug 7, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) Surprised they would do this with all those outfielders they have coming up. It was all PR. The owners read how much the average Joe fan liked Byrnes so they undercut the GM Josh Byrnes and made this deal.
