  1. Barons 10 Mississipi 3 W-Meaux (3-1) L-Wright (2-5) Chris Young now owns the longest Homerun at Trust Mark Park with a 460ft blast tonight off former White Sox's Reliever Mike Porzio. Casey Rogowski drew 4 walks tonight scored 3 times. Antoin Gray hit a homerun in front of his hometown crowd of Jackson Mississippi. Ryan Sweeney drew a couple walks and scored twice. Chris Stewart had a 3 hit game. Ryan also gunned out a runner at 2nd tonight. B.J. Lamura pitched well 2 scorless innings with a couple of K's Meaux also pitched 2 scoreless innings. Nik Lubisich on the hill tomorrow
  2. I have heard the Phillies MIGHT be interseted in trading Abreu but the Conversation would start with BMAC and Anderson in my mind no way is this worth it
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Thats right, wasn't that the game where Honel gave up pretty much nothing, but he also walked a million guys and I remember you telling us he was flat brutal despite getting the win. On a sidenote, have you heard anything about Kris? I know his velocity has been a tad bit better this year (into the mid 80's) and even when he was at his best he pretty much was an 87-89 MPH pitcher. Right now I think he's got a huge mental block and he has just zero confidence in himself. The Kris I remember was almost overly cocky. I heard he still has a blister problem I have heard the rumor this is just a rumor but he might head to Winston-Salem when he returns, right now we have a rotation of #1 Tracey, #2 Lubisich, #3 Phillips #4 Malone #5 Villcias. And with Tracey, Luby, Heath and Corwin pitching well so I think those rumors might have some truth to it
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Much appreciated. It looks on the most part that they have faired pretty good. With the exception being some of the Dodgers farmhands have really kicked but. Ik now Billingsly has pretty much dominated them in two starts. Although I think Tracey or someone out dueled him in one outing. Can you belive it was Honel: One of those games we shouldn't have won but Jacksonville was in a giving mood and helped Honel through 5 innings by chasing bad pitches and hitting little pop-ups

  6. QUOTE(JimH @ May 17, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) 3B Josh Fields in a slump ... down to .248, 0-4 last nite with 3 K's. He is in a big slump. Chasing pitches and taking called strikes he gets ahead a lot in the counts but on 2-0 3-1 he swings at bad pitches and gets the pitcher right back into the count. Yesterday was a great example ahead 3-1 in the count instead of taking ball 4 he swings at a pitch in the dirt then 3-2 takes called strike 3 down the heart of the plate.
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ May 17, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) True, but the positive here is the organization in Birmingham has some very good people, starting with the manager. They are hopefully a very good support network for Jenks. This would be a good topic to cover with Dave Wilder - how is Jenks coming along, have the White Sox discussed on field and off the field expectations with him, etc. No doubt he has great talent and judging by his results in '05, Sox fans can hope he'll have a bullpen role relatively soon. It's good planning by the White Sox. Their closer situation is muddled, and there'll be decisions to make for 2006 (Takatsu). Jenks is being groomed and being given an opportunity. If he does well in Birmingham I can see him being in a set up role for 2006 in Chicago, working his way up to closer at some point. Lots of "if's" in that scenario but if it works out ... again, he is quite a talent. Jenks is turning it around I seen him with the Cedar Rapids Kernels Iowa (low A) team in 2001 pitches would be called for him and he wouldn't throw them he was always in the Manager's face getting into druken rages and was way over weigh. But this year he is always the first to arrive working with the strengh coaches always listening to Razor and Rich Dotson I think it is a level of trust that he seems to have with them he throws the pitches that are called for him by catcher and he has lost around 20 pounds. Bobby hit 100 yesterday on a fouled bunt in the 9th, then followed it with a 0-2 curve for strike 3 called. Dave Wilder has said that he thinks the only thing stopping Bobby was Bobby and I give him tons of credit becuase he is working on it.
  8. QUOTE(minorsfan @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) Yeah it can be very irritating... hopefully they would consider that in the future and move into the internet age.. LOL Do you know how long this rado affiliation is with this station?? C I believe it was 5 years and this is year #4 so after next season it will expire
  9. Barons 4 Mississippi 3 W-Reynoso (2-1) L- Basner (0-4) Cory Haggerty came through in the clutch with a 2 out RBI single after a great at-bat which some of our prospects need to have. Tracey pitched very well 7 innings 3 runs allowed only walked one Braves hitter. Reynoso was outstanding came in the 8th went through the heart of the Braves order of Francouer, Thorman and McCann 1-2-3 strikeing out Francouer on a 96 MHP fastball. Dave Wilder in a interview strongly believes in Reynoso and his power arm will be a force for years to come for the Sox's. Bobby Jenks came in the 9th and got save #9 after a leadoff bunt single he got Luis Hernandez who was trying to bunt to foul off two pitches then gets the Strike out on a awsome breaking ball. The next batter hits into a game ending DP. Ryan Sweeney was 3-4 to raise his AVG to .343. Villicas on the mound tomorrow.
  10. QUOTE(minorsfan @ May 16, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) I get a chance to attend about 20 Barons games a year, but live out of town. Every chance I get to listen online to the games I do, but I HATE the fact that in order to listen online I have to catch the opposing teams broadcast. Sometimes it sucks listening to the biased opinions that of course you will get from the other teams broadcaster. I would love to hear about OUR prospects, the little side stories from OUR clubhouse, and what happens on a day to day basis with OUR Barons. It especially stinks when the opinions are harsh against our team or players. I know there are lots of fans of the White Sox minors and love to watch/listen to how potential major leaguers grow through the system. Especially since the Barons have so many great prospects it bugs me people who can't attend the games or listen the the local broadcast are stuck catching the opponent's broadcast and their viewpoints via the internet. The Barons are the ONLY one of the 10 teams in the entire Southern League that don't broadcast via the net. They also are the ONLY team in the White Sox minor league system (other than rookie ball) that doesn't offer the option. I am not sure if anyone (BHAMBARONS) can provide any insight or suggestions on how to get the Barons to invest in a internet feed. Thanks for any help C I am sorry I can't help on this one. I also hate when I am out of town and I have to listen other teams radio I really hate the Jacksonville Suns announcer Joe Block He made some comments about Ryan Sweeney yesterday about the error that angered me. Tom
  11. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Actually, it is equally about the fact that the station Barons games are broadcast on, does not stream any of its content, so if the Barons were to do it, they would have to invest in all of the equipment to do it, or pay an outside company to do so at a per game rate (if those companies even still exist). Right on Rex all about the station here Barons use to stream broadcasts with old radio station that ended after the 2002 season when the Barons signed with WYDE.
  12. QUOTE(Nokona @ May 16, 2005 -> 06:26 AM) His delivery reminds me of Buerhle's. And he has the same pitches as Buerhle
  13. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 15, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) I didn't look today, but the last time I looked there were still 2 or 3 available in the Barons team shop. I know the ones they sold last year raised nearly 7,000 of course the Anderson Jersey was the best
  14. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 15, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) 4th of July unis last season........ I believe those Jersey's were auction off for the Families of the Police Men that were killed in Bham it was a great idea by the Barons
  15. Chris Young Seconds before Homerun #4, Chris now has 7 Bombs and to put that in perspective Jeremy Reed had 7 the whole second half and 2 weeks in the playoffs.
  16. Jacksonville 1 Barons 0 What a pitchers duel, Heath Phillips was outstanding again today with 6 shutout innings Threw some great cutters one to Catcher Russell Martin for a Swinging Strike Out, Struck Out Joel Guzman on a great sinker. Dwyane Pollok looked great with a good slider K'd Russell Martin on it. Only Run came on a Ryan Sweeney error in the 9th as he mishandled a ball in the corner. Barons are in Missisippi tomorrow with Tracey on the mound
  17. Farm Team here is a good Sweeney pic
  18. He has Major League Stuff, If he can stay injury free I say yes he has a shot
  19. Barons Celebrating a come from behind win
  20. This a pic of Ryan before his 1st inning single
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 14, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Well by last years numbers I'm assuming your referring to his major league numbers? Regardless I'm with you though. I think he's going to make a solid reliever and I can only hope its with the White Sox. However, I don't think it will be till next year unless someone gets hurt. Its unfortunate, but the pen is quite full. Yes I have seen on people post about his Sox's Numbers last season. He was outstanding for the Barons last season it was game over when he came in last year.
  22. I hope Baj gets his shot I got to see him last season he was outstanding and people need to remeber Baj last season was only 2 years off Tommy John Surgery and with every season he gets better so I wouldn't take any stock in last years numbers
  23. Barons 9 Jacksonville 4 Malone pitched well today 7 hits was misleading the only bad pitch Corwin made was his last a hanging curve to Joel Guzman but in all reality what is a bad pitch to him. Joel is an outstanding hitter. But That was the only Malone mistake today and I will go on record to say it was his best apperance since the surgery had threw some great Curve's for swinging Strike Outs of Russell Martin, Delwyn Young, Jon Webber and twice to Todd Donavon who reminds me of Cory Patterson a lead off hitter with plenty of speed that will not use it he in the series is 0-10 with 5 K's. Ryan Sweeney was 3-5 today with 2RBI's what impressed me was he hit a line drive to center for 1st single then with a runner on 3rd 2 outs he lined a hit opposite way on a great change-up from Stulz. Casey Rogowski hit a moster 3-run Homer over the scoreboard in right center estimated at 475ft. Jerry Owens had a rocket double in the 6th run 3rd. Dennis Ulcia had an awsome return throwing 3 scorless innings with a great cutter to strike out Titus Meadows. The White Sox's Brass was in town for toinght's game. Tomorrow Heath Phillps takes on Derek Thompson.
  24. Jacksonville 4 Barons 0 Barons could do little Billingsly and the troubling thing was Chad wasn't at the top of his game by means with only his fastball working for him tonight he hit 100 3 times tonight. Chris Stewart had 2 hits tonight and turned on 2 Billingsly fastball's Meanwhile Lubisich was on his game as well giving up 7 hits in 7 innings he made only one bad pitch and that was a hanging curve to Tydus Meadows that was deposited over the LF wall. B.J. LaMura pitched like he trusted his stuff tonight in the 8th inning he threw a 0-1 curve to Joel Guzman that dropped in for a called strike then blew him away with a 96 Fastball chin high. Then in the 9th to face Brian Sprout he got 2 swings and misses on fastballs then dropped in a great curve for Strike 3 called. Both Owens and Young's hit streaks are over. Corwin Malone on the mound tomorrow. I hope you guys enjoy the write ups I try and put in as much info as I can give.
