Barons 13 Mississippi 5 W- Villacis L- Wright Everyone in the lineup had a hit tonight and 2 hits a piece for Gonzo,Young,Sweeney,Fields and Rogo. Chris Young's hit streak reaches 16 games with a 428 ft shot to center. Darren Blakley hit 453 ft shot over the score board in right. Villacis pitched ok tonight best outing of the season, Still struggles with command pitched from behind the whole evening. Saved his best pitch of the night until his last with 2nd,3rd 0 outs in the 7th Villacis threw a 93 MPH fastball chin high that swung on and missed for a K.

Mississippi 8 Barons 5 (11) W- Vasquez L-LaMura Gonzo & Sweeny had 2 hit games, Chris Young hit streak is now 15 games with a bunt single in the 1st. I noticed that hopefully Pollok found his Slider he threw some great ones today and with his fastball change was a dominate pitcher today. Pollok threw 2 filthy sliders to Jeff Francour for swings and misses. Bailed Tracey today with a Strike Out of Onil Joseph with 2nd and 3rd 2 outs with his nasty slider. His Slider was the best that it has been all season. Meuaz continued to be flithy this season striking out Scott Thorman with a great curve ball. Sean Tracey picked up his first AA hit in first at-bat. Two other pitchers batted Pollok was ahead 3-0 in the count and laid down a perfect Sac Bunt and Phillps K'd on a 2-2 pitch. B.J. Lamura Continues to fight his worst nightmare himself. He continues not to trust his stuff walked 3 more hitters today. In my mind the only thing keeping B.J. from being a star prospect is himself. Villicas on the hill tomorrow and needs to pitch well. Dennis Ulcia will join the team tomorrow and Tetsu Yofu was cut.

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 11, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Ottawa @ Charlotte 6:15 Adkins to the hill Bham lost 8-5 in 11. A Gon and Sweeney 2 hits each. Tracey with an ugly outing, but he did manage a hit (Bham, you are going to have to inform on why he and Heath Phillips batted). Pollok and Meaux with good relief, LaMura got the L. Box Score We lost Chris Stewart who was our catcher on a cheap shot by Braves First base Scott Thorman he came down the line went out of his way to nail Stewart in the throat he ran his way into an out but that hit was way out of line, Needless to say Stewart had to leave Aceves our DH had to come in so we lose the DH spot in the line up. It was funny to watch our trainer and Hitting coach running through the crowd trying to find Heath.

Also Tetsu Yofu was cut as of today.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Birmingham won 7-4. Sweeney, Rogo, Fields, and Young all had 2 hits, with Chris Young belting his 6th HR of the year. Sweeney had a double and Rogo a triple. Haggerty also HR'd. Is Jerry Owens hurt? Haven't seen him listed in a few games now... He while not on the DL is a little banged after a collision at 1st on Friday night

Barons 7 Mississippi 4 W- Reynoso (1-1) L- Basner (0-3) Barons Mash Braves Chris Young Launched a towering Homerun tonight and now has a 14 game streak Chris also drilled a Fastball up the middle for an RBI single. Cory Haggerty also launched a shot off the score board in right. Josh Feilds had a 2 hit game with an RBI Double. Sweeney had a 2-3 for night with a walk and had a Homerun taken away by the first base umpire who called sweeney's blast foul which Razor and I though it was fair and replays back up our position. Heath Phillips was outstanding I talked with Heath and he was glad to be in Bham. Heath knew he would be overmatched in Charlotte he was glad for the Sox's to show that much trust in him and he today threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings tonight. Reynoso gets the win by Fanning Jeff Francour with the bases loaded in a tie game 7th inning. Darren Blakely made the catch of the year in the 8th a fully extended catch in Foul Territory. Bobby Jenks picks up save 8 today. Staff ace Sean Tracey will be on the hill tomorrow.

Mississippi 4 Barons 2 W-O'Conner L-Reynoso I liked how Malone he ran out of gas in the 5th but this is only 3 start so I am not stunned at that. Chris Young turned around a 97 MPH fastball from Star Prospect Andrew Lerew and deposited 375 ft just over the left field. Offense finaly showed like they were coming out of the slump with some good hitting in the 8th and 9th inning by hitting line drives. Reynoso and a lead off walk caused plenty of problems and led to the loss. Aceves had an awful AB in the 9th with runners 1st and 2nd 0 out couldn't lay down a bunt then took a meeger swing for a K. Chris Stewart's Bullet ended the game a line drive into Center where Blanco made a diving catch and flip for DP of Rogowski a very dangerous play gutsy if he doens't get that ball the game would have been tied with Stewart on 3rd with 1 out and a easy shot to win. Phillips on the hill tomorrow.

QUOTE(danman31 @ May 8, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) Does that mean Honel out of the rotation? Yes, Currently he is on the DL for what I don't know and have no idea how long to me this sounds like last season when it was one start and before you knew it was all season and couldn't even pitch well in Bristol

QUOTE(JimH @ May 8, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) Birmingham loses 3-2. Sweeney, Young, Owens all 1-4. Fields and Rogowski with 0-fers. Owens with his 9th stolen base: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...biraax_cngaax_1 W-Kozowski L-Lubisich Lubisich was on his game today outstanding breaking ball. Only made on bad pitch today a hanging curve to Keith Nichols. Andy Gonzalez had a couple of 2 out RBI Hits. Young Owens hit streaks continue. B.J. LaMura is becoming a great middle reliever if he contiunues to trust his stuff he has a chance LaMura already went face to face with Dodgers and D-Rays #1 Prospects, Joel Guzman and Delmon young 2 times and they are 0-4 with 4 strike outs B.J. this season has a good curve with a 93-95 Fastball. After The game Heath Phillips was sent to Birmingham and Antoin Gray was placed on the Suspended list why I won't know until tomorrow.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) You jinx. Come on Adam one more inning
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 7, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Feel better BHAM. Do you know if there was any reason why Jenks didn't close last night? The only reason was Hannigan was a lefty and Rey hasn't given up a hit to a lefty yet and has made them look bad in the process.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 7, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) Thought I'd help out here a bit ... Birmingham beats Chattanooga, big offensive day for several guys. Owens 3-4, Ryan Sweeney 3-5, and quickman's man crush Casey Rogowski 4-6: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...biraax_cngaax_1 Winston-Salem loses a 13-10 slugfest: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...potafx_wswafx_1 Kannapolis loses 6-5 in 12 innings, but a nice outing from Ray Liotta: http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...kanafx_lcoafx_1 Charlotte rained out. Thanks a buch Jim, I been trying to get over Strep Throat feeling a lot better today after having a 103 Fever yesterday. It helps that I am watching my Sox's win as well

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 4, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Tied in the 9th, Caballo had a shot with RISP but he flies out. Edit: LMAO, they walk in the winning run. How can you walk the winning run but I will take it great job Cubbies. Before you walk the bases loaded intentionaly you better hope you pitcher can throw strikes, Miller left in 10 in the game But I could care less but he got in the most important

I am having trouble with Minor League Baseball.com so I will update the other teams later. West Tenn 9 Barons 2 W-Nolasco L- Yofu (0-1) Nolasco 5.2 IP 3H 1R 4BB 3K's Malone 4.2 IP 4H 1R 1BB 3K's Good- Corwin Malone was back to his old self good Fastball around 90 all outing good Breaking pitches as well of Malone's 4 hits 2 were infield and 1 bloop single. Malone's run was given up after he left the game by Yofu. Rogoswki had a good game 2-3 on base three times Drove in a run and stole 2 bases. Young's hit streak up to 10 after a rocket Double into the Left Field corner. Owens hit streak reaches 8 games after a bunt single in the 3rd. Bad- Most of the team looked like they didn't want to be here today there was no hustle and the team didn't play this game as a team they played for themselves and got hammered by a team that did play together. If I have to see one more of these so-called great best in the system sliders from Pollok again I will puke either he can't come close to the zone or they stay as straight as an arrow and get crushed he gave up another 4 runs today. Notes- Talked to Bull today he is out 3-4 weeks pulled triceps.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 3, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) Damn Young and Owens seemed to have gone from the very worse on the team to the very best. Ryan Sweeney is back now right? Is he looking good? Yes he does he lined a hard single yesterday and Today as well 2-5 since returning

West Tenn 9 Barons 5 W-Ryu L- Pollok Ryu 5IP 7H 3R 3BB K Bull 2/3IP 3H 0R 0BB 0K's Good-Ryan Meuax pitched well coming in for the injured bull gave the Barons 4 1/3 Scoreless innings. Long hitting streaks for Young and Owens, 7 Games for Owens 9 games for Young. Reyes had a 3 hit game with a triple. Bad- Dwyane Pollok and Willie Glen they ruined a great pitched Meaux game as they continue to struggle. Rogowski and Blakely continue to leave runners on and ground into DP's Rogowski has hit into 3 just in this series alone. Blakely in the 7th took a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded and 2 outs right down the middle of the plate. Notes-Bull re injured himself today and have Corwin Malone goint tomorrow with a really short Bullpen tomorrow .It will take a minor miracle to win tomorrow with it
-
QUOTE(minorsfan @ May 3, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) West Tenn @ Birmingham (13-11) 7 Bad news for Bullard.... he started the game tonight, but was pulled in the first inning with an undisclosed injury(listening to visiting teams radio) with no runs. Perhaps he reaggreviated the back muscle, so Ryan Meaux is now on the mound. Yes it is the same injury Too Bad for Bull

West Tenn 4 Barons 3 W-Valdez L-Lubisich (4-1) Valdez 6IP 9H 3R 3K's Lubisich 7IP 6H 4R 1BB 4K's Good- Jerry Owens another 3 hit game he lined a single into left to lead off then faked bunt and got the infield to draw in then shot one past first baseman Pete O'toole. Then with 2 in scoring position shot a ball past 3rd baseman Casey McGhee. Ryan Sweeney had a solid single in his comeback. Lubisich pitched well keep in mind West Tennessee coming in was batting .313 as a team he held them to 6 hits over 7 innings. B.J LaMura was 6 up 6 down and hit 94 on a strike out of Dwayne Bacon. Bad- Still helping out other pitchers by refusing to take walks. Andy Gonzalez with 2 on 0 out in the 7th down 1 couldn't lay down a bunt and then chased a 3-2 pitch and grounded in to a 6-4-3 DP which ended the inning and last scoring chance. Notes- BJ made 2 bad pitches to Pie and Sing and they hit them out but prior to that 2 infield singles in a row which set up a 3 run homer. Ryan Sweeney came off the DL today. Kris Honel went on the DL. The Bull will take the mound Tomorrow.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 2, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) I agree, leave him where he's at and let him settle in. He is devloping well he is an excellent bunter, got a sweet line drive stroke, uses the bunt as a weapon which makes 1st and 3rd basemen play in then he shoots the ball over there heads and through the holes. Jerry also has great speed and in a smart base stealer. Owens in the last few games has been developing a good power stroke in the last week Owens has hit 3 balls that would have been Homeruns at the Cell and most ballparks but the Met holds them in and Owens has to settle for Doubles and Triples.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) I forgot about the 7 day DL in the minors... If you see Jim, send him Soxtalk's well wishes! I will see him tonight I will make sure I Tell him

Chattanooga 7 Barons 4 W-Valdez L- Villicas Valdez 5IP 4H 2R 2BB 3K's Villicas 4IP 7H 7R 1ER 1BB 3K's Good- Jerry Owens had another great day 2-4 with a walk on base 3 more times and also drove a ball to the CF Wall. Chris Young 3-4 today on base 4 times Drove in 2 runs in the 9th with a shot down the LF line. The Bullpen of Glen, LaMura, Reynoso and Jenks were lights out to bad the game was out of reach when they came in. Bullpen had 7K's in 5 innings of work. Reynoso scoreless streak now reaches 11 2/3 innings. Jenks now had a 9 inning scorless streak. Chris Young made an outstanding catch in CF and turned it into a DP Bad- a Huge Josh Feilds mistake on a ball he had plenty of time to get to with a catcher running but instead threw high which by the time it was over allowed 6 unearned runs to score. Villicas struggled as Lookout hitter's pounded his first pitch early and often no soft hits all rockets. Villicas instead of picking up Feilds and his decided to pout and allow Chattanooga to put up a 6 spot which was enough to win. Take that inning off the board and Barons would have won. Notes-Tomorrow Nik Lubisich takes to the hill to face a very good West Tennesse Team they are the flubs affilate which brings about a hated rivalry Niether manager really cares for the other so it will be interseting to see these next three games.

BARONS 9 Chattanooga 1 W- Tracey (3-1) L-Gardener Sv-Pollok (1) Tracey 6IP 2H 0R 2BB 5K's Gardener 5IP 8H 8R 3BB 3K's Good- 8 Run 2nd Inning had 5 straight hits (3 Doubles). Jerry Owens came very close to his first AA homerun he had to settle with a bases clearing Triple Lots of clutch hiting today. Tracey was lights tonight hitting 96 on a 1st inning strike out of Chris Denorfia. 11 Straight scorless innings and 17 out of his last 18 innings have been scorless. Bad-Nothing Notes: Caught a foul ball tonight and I am paying the price for not having a glove. Eduardo Villicas makes start #2 tomorrow as the 1st Place Barons look to split with Chattanooga.

Chattanooga 5 Barons 1 W-Schmidt L-Malone (0-2) Dumatrait 4IP 3H 1R 2BB 3K's Malone 3IP 3H 2R 0ER 2K's Good- Jerry Owens had another 2 hit game scored the only run for the Barons. Malone threw the ball well hitting 91 and was throwing strikes. Yofu came in an pitched well. Bad-Defense was lousy behind Malone it was awful to watch. 15 Runners left on base, 8 in scoring position. Blakely left 8 runners left himself. Blakely also commited a huge error when he let the ball bounce off his head.
