Chattanooga 14 Barons 5 W- Bruksch L- LaMura (0-1) Sv-Salmon Kozlowski 4IP 5H 3R 1BB 6K's Honel 5.2 IP 6H 4R 4BB 3K's * Left in 6th with a Blister Good- Jerry Owens is on a roll 2-4 today on base 4 more times stole his 8th base of the season in the first he is now batting .312 I think he will be a good player. Chris Young 2-5 today hit a towering Homerun in the 1st and a rocket double as well. Jonathan Aceves hit a long homerun and had a double off the centerfield fence. Reynoso was great again going 1 1/3 innings with only one bloop single and 2K's this runs his scorless streak to 10 2/3 to start the season with batters now batting a whopping .072 Bad- The Defense in the 7th inning was lousy with two outs and no one on Andy Gonzalez booted a groundball then the next batter hit a weak grounder to second and Gray booted it and then threw past Rogo. Josh Feilds took a golden sombrero 0-4 4K's Willie Glen was awful serving up 7 runs in the 9th inning and it looked like Batting pratice. Antoin Gray continues to struggle and looks way overmatched here in AA. Notes-Kris Honel left in the 6th with a blister his fastball today was topping at 82 was down 3-0 after 4 batters. Reynoso hit 96 twice on strike outs of Keith Nichols and Santiago Perez. Lookouts first baseman Jesse Gutierrez had a game tonight 4-5, 4 RBI and 2 runs Scored. Corwin Malone makes his first start since 2003 tomorrow night and Tetsu Yofu has been added to the roster.

I agree with the call but the ejection went a little too far an ump has to understand the situation a controverisal call was just made and player will be upset all the ump had to do was walk away give him a warning or something. I seen that in the AZ/LA game last night Troy Glaus Batting with bases loaded 2 outs took a very questionable called strike on a 3-2 pitch and he had words with the HP ump and flung his back to the on deck circle and the ump gave him a warning and walked away end of story this was a case of an ump going on a power trip and there was no excuse for it.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) does "since Owens changed his swing" = "Changed his batting stance?" Yes he did he closed his stance a lot and he pokes at the ball and hit grounders instead of looping the ball and hitting flyballs into the deep Hoover Met. I will try and get a photo of stance tonight I have a pic of the old stance under the Barons Home Opener Thread. I hope that helps

Jerry Owens First AB

My vote was for Reynoso. He as a setup man doesn't get as many innings but man he has came in during so many bad jams that other pitchers have created and get's outs He has given up 2 hits during the season one was infield and the other was a bunt single SL Batters are batting a sick .028 and this is a star filled league

BARONS 13 Tennessee 2 W-Lubisich (4-0) L- Bass (0-3) Lubisich 6IP 2R 1ER 2BB K Bass 4.1 IP 7R 2BB 4K's Good- The bats awoke and took advantage of the hitting conditions @ Coors Field East as the ball was jummping today. A season high in runs 13 and hits 17. Darren Blakely homered from both sides of the plate the second time he has done at Smokies park in the last year. Josh Feilds had a career day with a five RBI game he picked up 3 with a bases loaded double in the 5th. Blakely also had 5 RBI to with 2 homers. Jerry Owens had a 3 hit game today and scored 2 runs out of the lead off spot and since Owens changed his swing on April 15th Jerry is batting .428 and now raises his overall avg to .303. Chris Young had a 3 hit game today also scoring 3 runs. Blakely also had a 4 hit game this morning. Cory Haggerty had a 2 hits including a ringing double and a perfectly excuted a perfect hit and run. Lubisich was awsome today using his sinker well and making the Tennessee hitters pound it into the ground turning 3 DP's and keeping the ball out of the air. Dwyane Pollok pitched well again. Bad- A couple of error's nothing major though. Notes: Barons now lead the SL South by 1 1/2 games and come home for a 7 game homestand with Kris Honel who NEEDS a good outing starting Tomorrow

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) What did he mess up that inning? That pitch to Rowand was a strike, and a great pitch to hit. Rowand out-guessed himself. Totally Agree good pitch need to swing the bat there instead of being stoneman that was an awful at-bat -
Tennessee 5 Barons 0 (Final in 7) W-Goocher L-Villicas Goocher 7IP 2H 0R 1BB 1K Villicas 5.2IP 8H 5R 2BB 5K's Good- Only 1 K tonight Bad- No hitting what so ever it was a groundball clinic both of our 2 hits were grounders one on a infield single the other a 3 hopper through the right side by Gray. Notes- There were 6 1-2-3 innings tonight and Clint Goocher throws the game of his life in the park known as "Coors Feild East" Because of the Park being smuggled in the smokies.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) Thanks for getting that info Randy. Been busy with midterms and was meaning to do so. Also Brice is out with a shoulder injury of some sort. And Villicas has taken Pacheco's Roster spot will pitch tonight @ Tennessee

Giambi is taking Sweeney's place on the roster as of yesterday
-
Barons @ Tennessee Good- Two great stops by Feilds at 3rd and Jerry Owens is really using his speed well he is now 7-7 in steals Good Pitching by Reynoso Bad- Didn't show up to play today 4 errors today lots of K's. Notes- Barons were feeling the effects of the comuter trip to Montgomery this weekend team looked tired. Barons faced two guys tonight that had Major League experence last year Carlos Alamza and Casey Diagle. Diagle wife the Beautful Jenni Finch was in attendance. Sweeney's injury is worse than orginally though and Jermey Giambi made his 1st at-bat in the 9th and K'd looking. No pitcher for tomorrow as of yet and hopefull Tracey is ok he was visited by Razor and Joe Geck our trainer then left the game.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:55 AM) Any updated news on Bull's condition? It was a strained muscle in between his shoulder and neck It looks like he will miss Friday's Start vs Chattanooga

QUOTE(hogsmom @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 07:43 AM) How is Rogo? Hope he's not hurt toobad. He should be the one to put down Seddon. I wouldn't like to see Casey coming at me! Well he isn't 100% either but he is a warrior a lot of guys wouldn't have played yesterday but we have no one that normally is a first baseman so he is sticking it out for us even though a couple days off would be great for him
