  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) That's not good at all about Bull, especially now since he's probably so close to getting the call up to Charlotte. Sounded like he was rolling too in today's outing, let's hope it's nothing too serious. He was in a lot of pain today when he left and yes he was rolling the only hit allowed was an infeild single.
  2. QUOTE(farmteam @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) I was just wondering...say you had your choice-would you rather live in the big city and go to a couple Major League games a year, or live in a smaller city, and go to more minor league games a year? Remember, while the bigs may be the "Real Deal", think of the cost--way cheaper to attend a minor league game, and you could attend more of them. So, which do you choose? Minor League hands down I attend around 70 Minor League games a year and have been to Atlanta, Phoenix but for the dollar and the fun it is Minor Leagues, Players are far more friendly it is just a better time and to get a outfeild ticket in Atlanta it is $18 Park $10 and a Hotdog + Coke is another $10 not to mention Programs or any souvenirs. So $38 just for me to go to a game, While I can do all of that for $14 at a Barons game and that would be a front row seat next to the dugout.
  3. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) I'm guessing that, assuming they move up a starter, it will be Ryan Rodriguez getting the spot start. While it would be Flores' turn in the rotation Tuesday for the 'Hogs, they have an off day Monday so Rodriguez would be pitching on 4 days rest. Plus the Sox already had him pitch in a spot start (or 2?) for Charlotte last season. That was the rumor I heard but I wanted to confirm it first Thanks Tom
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) And, for those who don't check into the minor league board, it was a good day on the farm today, too. Brian Anderson was a single short of the cycle, and B-Mac went six, allowing two (one earned). Great day all around... Except for the Injury to the Bull which looked bad
  5. Enemencio Pacheco was released by the Sox's after two very poor outings in which he never got out of the 3rd inning. He will be replaced by a pitcher from Winston-Salem for the start on Tuesday. Credit: Birmingham Barons Media Relations
  6. BARONS 5 Montgomery 2 W-Meaux (2-0) L- Cromer (3-1) Sv- Jenks (7) BULL 3.2 IP 1H 0R 0BB 4K's * Bull injured his back during the game Cromer 5IP 8H 4R 2BB 2K's Good-Bats continue to surge 12 more hits, Also had 4 Doubles. Antoin Gray hit his first AA homerun in the 7th. Rogo had a 3 hit game avg is .349, Jerry Owens had a 3 hit game and was on base all 5 times as the leadoff hitter in this game. Owens also stole his 6th base today he is 6-6 in steals. Rogoowski stole 2 bases as well. Great Pitching by the Bull again but what else is new. Meaux continues to dazzle the biscuits he went 3 1/3 innings only giving up 2 hits while Striking out 6 Montgomery hitters. Meuax leads the team with 20K's. Bobby Jenks recorded the final 3 outs and had one K he got with a 98 MPH Fastball then droped in a dandy curve ball to finish off Shawn Riggins with his second K that ended the game. Hit Streaks continue for Owens (4), Blakely (5) and Andy Gonzalez (6). Bad-Nothing very well played game in all aspects. Notes: The Bull left in the 4th inning with Back Problems looked like he was in a lot of pain. Pacheco was cut after the game and will be replaced by a pitcher from Winston-Salem no word on who. Barons after taking the series from what was 1st place Montgomery improve there record to 11-5 overall and 5-1 vs Montgomery. Barons move on to Knoxville Tennessee for a 3 game set.
  7. Kerry up to his old tricks gave up a ringing 2 run Double to some unknown hitter. Who ever it was hit the hell out of it
  8. Brian Anderson just went deep with the bases loaded for the Knights 4-0 1st inning for BMAC.
  9. Richmond @ Charlotte (2-14) Birmingham (10-5) @ Montgomery Potomac @ Winston Salem (9-7) Hickory @ Kannapolis (10-7) Notes: The Bull Takes the hill today for the Barons Jim is 2-1 this season. Young (4) Owens (3), Blakely (4), Andy Gonzalez (5) and Chris Stewart (3) take Multi game hit streaks into today's game.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Thanks a ton for helping me keep this updated BHAM. I obviously can't see him play and can only go by box scores and stat lines. It's great to have such a good source of info. Your Welcome I can add that Chris now has a 4 game hit streak. Tom
  11. Montgomery 10 Barons 8 W-Seddon (2-1) L-Honel (1-2) Seddon 5IP 5H 4R 2BB 6 K's Honel 5IP 9H 9R 2BB 2K's 3 Home-Run Balls Good-The Bats continue to produce 8 runs on 12 hits tonight everybody reached base tonight and need not to worry Josh Feilds had 2 extra base hits tonight and had his first 4 hit night in Double A he is now 7-10 in the series with 3 doubles. I liked the fact we didn't roll over and kept fighting hard and had the tying run at the plate in the 9th. Dwyane Pollok threw 3 innings of 1 run ball tonight and looks to have that confidence back which was the only thing missing to start the season. Chris Young is hitting the ball well now and I believe will be a special player down the road. Bad- Kris Honel I said coming in this game that he couldn't pitch like he did last monday well he did. Kris fell in love with his curveball that was horrible and missing by a mile each time and the Montgomery hitters were feasting of his 81 MPH Fastball by Crushing 3 Home Runs. Notes- I like that Pollok stood up for the team after Rogo was drilled in the head on a cheap shot by Montgomery Starter Chris Seddon he hit Delmon Young and after Delmon threw his bat Pollok; Dwayne didn't even flinch Normally I don't accept hitting other players on purpose but after the cheap shot to Rogo (which was the 6th time we had been hit by them this season) someone had to step for the team. Fernando Cortez of Montgomery is now hitting .522 this season and it is no fluke he is 28-51 on the season. Series Finale tomorrow and Bull takes the Mound with a fresh Bullpen behind him.
  12. Chris Hit 1st SL homerun last Saturday night and now has 7 RBI which is 2nd on the Barons and has caught around 50% of baserunners so far this season
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) Did Patterson K to end the game? Yes 3 Straight Swings and Miss
  14. RIchmond @ Charlotte (2-13) Birmingham (10-4) @ Montgomery Potomac @ Winston-Salem (8-7) Hickory @ Kannapolis (9-7) Notes: Kris Honel Pitches for the Barons tonight and needs to have a much better outing than the first 2
  15. QUOTE(bulokis @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) what happen to Sweeney? when is he coming back? Hampstring Injury out another 5 games at least.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) It seems like Josh Fields is really doing well up there, and Young has looked better at the plate? He is looking good at the plate hit 4 rockets yesterday. Also stole his second base of the season. Young after K'ing first 2 at-bats hit two Doubles into the Left field Corner
  17. Chris picked up his first 3 hit game Thursday Against Jacksonville and followed it tonight in Montgomery with 2 Rocket Doubles.
  18. BARONS 8 Montgomery 6 W-Lubisich (3-0) L- Lockwood (0-2) Sv-Reynoso (2) Lubisich 5IP 7H 4R BB 4K's Lockwood 4IP 11H 7R 6K's Good- The Bats came out every hitter expect Aceves had a hit today but even he drove two balls to the wall. Chris Young had a couple of Doubles Josh Feilds had 3 hits today and was robbed of a 4 hit. Andy Gonzalez (My Sleeper) had 3 hits and raised his avg to .361 Had back-to-back-to-back RBI Doubles in a 5 run 5th. Corwin Malone was outstanding after an outing of falling in love with his change-up threw a great mix of changes curves and Fastballs. Reynoso is quickly becoming an outstanding pitcher in a left on left match with Hot Prospect Delmon Young Paulino fanned him with a 94 MPH fastball never was below 92 all 1 1/3 innings. Bad- B.J. Lamura was very wild walking 4 straight batters and allowing the tying run to reach second. Notes-After the 4th walk that forced in a run and placed the tying run of 2nd with 1 out faced Delmon Young and after falling behind 3-1 had a visit by Rich Dotson and regained his focus and Struck out Young on a change that visit would have went unoticed in the Box Score but that visit did nothing less than save the win and place the Barons in to 1st place with 2 to go in Montgomery. Kris Honel will have to improve to tomorrow to just surive the second inning tomorrow.
  19. Charlotte (2-12) @ Toledo Birmingham (9-4) @ Montgomery Potomac @ Winston-Salem (7-7) Hickory @ Kannapolis (9-6) Notes: Phillps needs a good start for Charlotte tonight and hopefully Sweeney can come back for Birmingham tonight
  20. Working on this project for the Booster Club and if anyone could help me I would really be greatful. I am looking for 3-5 Best games for each year since 2000 and then rank them as which were best overall during that time. The Project is celebrating the Barons 5 year run on Divison titles. If anyone can help me please PM me Thanks Tom
  21. QUOTE(mannyfast @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 12:17 PM) Thanks! I appreciate your Barons recaps and I agree, that was the worst officiating I have seen at the Met. I dont' think I've ever been so angry at a baseball game before. I ended up leaving early because I couldn't take it any longer! The only reason I stayed was I had finish scoring the game for minor league solutions but with the calls that were made I don't even see a reason to look at that game because the results are skewed
  22. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) what if those charter fishing boats are in the caribbean??? now that would be great, He is stuck in Oregon in a little town called Priceburg it must be a drag.
  23. QUOTE(mannyfast @ Apr 22, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) Can someone confirm a play that occurred late in the game last evening? The Barons left fielder made a great shoestring catch and it appeared the Suns runner on third never tagged up and waltzed home to score. The Barons appealed at third and Cortesio called the runner safe. Did I see this correctly or did the Suns runner indeed tag up? Thanks for anyone's input... No he didn't tag up left on contact and it should have been an inning ending DP but what really got me was her changing strike zone it would have been nice if we got half of the calls the Suns got. There is no doubt in my mind this all happened becuase of play on Wensday where Razor called her out on a blown HR call and she carried it over into last nights game which is totally uncalled for
  24. Well I personally hold a grudge against him after what I seen him to a kid when he was a Baron in '96 a kid that I am guessing had Cancer because when he took off his hat he had no hair what so ever and Maggs when this kid asked him nicely for his autograph said " What do you think my time is made of" I know a lot of people loved him but I am glad his true colors are starting to show.
  25. I was talking with Barons Hitting coach Gregg Ritchie and Wally Came up and he said that Wally now works with a company that runs charter fishing boats. I can't believe the fall he has taken since Nov 2nd when he was on top of the world. Ritchie was the new D-backs hitting coach until Wally was fired. I think he will be coaching again soon/
