QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) Is he still posting high strike out totals? If so, is it his eye or is it a long swing that is causing them. Yes It's the long swing
-
Chris after week one is hitting .160 here in Bham. But is showing signs of life with a towering Homerun Monday in North Carolina. Great Defense as well
-
Kris while the line score looks bad actually was a good outing other than 2 hanging breaking balls that were hit into the State of Virginia. Next start is Monday vs Jacksonville I will have a first hand look at him this will be first home start.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) BB, how is Jenks looking? You attend the Birmingham games, correct? What's the fastball poppin' at? According to Curt Bloom on radio his Fast Ball toped at 96 to strike out James Shanks. Best Pitch he made yesterday was a 3-1 pitch with 2 on 2 out 3-1 game to Chris Ashby who was trying to be hero and win it guessed fastball got a change and grounded out to 2nd to end it.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) how sad is that?? It was in good enough shape for them to play the night before, yet by noon they had to cancel for today?? Isn't that what they have a tarp for? I really think something is fishy about this I wonder if it had anything to with Carolina having a game @ Huntsville tomorrow. I am sorry but even if the forcast was rain until 9:00 every effort would be made to play the game at the Met.

Bobby recorded save #2 last night in Carolina he is now 2nd in SL in the saved Department.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) Tom's on the DL at the moment, hopefully not for too long. Where will he go when he comes off DL?
-
QUOTE(minorsfan @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) You are just are wealth of knowledge. LOL Thanks C Kind of wrote that in a hurry the actual reason was it had been raining in Raliegh all day long and the rain was expected to last until 9:30 by that time the playing field couldn't have been played on. Hope that helps
-
QUOTE(minorsfan @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Does anyone know what time it was called... game time or earlier in the afternoon???? Thanks C At noon becuase the feild was in horrible shape.

BARONS 3 Carolina 1 Barons Box 4-12 W-BULL (1-1 4.50) L-Johnson (1-1 0.82) SV B. Jenks (2) Bullard 6IP 3H 1R 2BB 4K's Johnson 5.2IP 5H 3R 3BB 6K's Good- The Bull was outstanding was on cruise control the whole outing. Took advantage of a Carolina misplay ala Crede's mistake which instead of ending the inning put runners at 2nd 3rd which the Barons got those runs in that was the differnece in the game. Willie Glen did a good in his inning of scoreless ball. Meaux was outstanding in his inning. Jenks came in and closed it out with a little drama but got a good hitter in Chris Ashby to guess wrong on a 3-1 pitch with tying runners on in the 9th. Ashby guess fastball got change and weakly grounded out to end the game. The Defense was outstanding. Bad- Not much other than the team is Strikeing out at an alarming another 11 today makes 4 out 6 games in Double figures and every game at least 7 K's. Rubber Game tomorrow Last game of this 7 Road Trip with Tracey on the bump tomorrow.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) Come on Bull! Show 'em you should have been in Charlotte!!! BULL was awsome today handed Carolina there first loss of the season. I think he will be in charlotte soon.
-
Just wondering what kind of effect this will have on the rosters when these guys return from the DL I think there will be a couple of cuts along with a couple of demotions. I am also wondering if Pedro Lopez continues to struggle at charlotte will he come down in favor of hot hitting G. Reyes

Barons @ Carolina Jim Bullard (0-1 13.50) vs Jason Johnson (1-0 0.00) Avaible for Bullpen duty Willie Glenn Bobby Jenks Dwayne Pollok B.J. Lamura Lets go Bull

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Dye is hitting around 60 points higher. Dye has a homer, Crede doesn't. Dye has no errors, Crede does. Dye has an RBI, Crede doesn't. Dye has a higher OBP, SLG, and OPS. I assume you're talking this years numbers? If not I can detail past years. Dye is only hitting .217 Crede at .208 And comparing error's of a RF compared to a 3B is plain silly I think that play last night at 3rd with Hunter seemed to light a fire under him. From what I know about him in Bham Joe puts a lot of pressure on himself and with these 3 hits maybe this is what gets him going. I am rooting hard for him because I don't see any better options until All-Star Break next year Feilds is not ready yet.

Carolina 5 Barons 4 W-Bazardo L-Honel Bazardo 5IP 8H 4R 2BB 2K's Honel 4IP 8H 5R 2BB K Good- Great Defense today by Sweeney, Feilds. Ryan gunned out a runner @ Home in the 1st and Feilds took away a run in 4th on a worm burner down the line. Bats came alive today some hard hit balls. 4 guys had 2 hit games today Rogowski, Feilds, Sweeny, Stewart. Young took advantage of the wind blowing out in the 5th a hit a high 2-0 Change up for his 1st AA Homerun . Malone Threw two shoutout innings today had that nasty hook working well. And what was awsome about that was when he needed his hook the most with a bases loaded 0 out mess he got it with a a chopper to first and a weak comebacker to get out of it with 0 runs scoring. Dwyane Pollok threw two scorless innings as well today. Bad- Hitting with RISP it was down right awful today left 7 runners on base after the 5th inning. Other than the wind aided homer today Chris Young continues to be way over matched at the plate. Owens also is struggling he struck out two more times and is way over matched. Notes- Honel threw two bad change ups that were hit a long ways today other than those two pitches the outing wasn't bad.
-
QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) Wow, Honel has a 6 ERA and he hasn't even pitched this season. He must be pretty bad. Seriously, I really hope he does well. I'm not going to hold my breath though. I think he will go 3 or 4 innings and give up 3 or 4 runs. I took last years numbers from Barons.com

BARONS game @ Carolina Mudcats Barons (2-2) Carolina (4-0) Kris Honel (0-0 6.00) vs Yorman Bazardo (5-9 3.45) This is a game I am really going to pay attention to tonight Kris Honel comes out and with something to prove. Carolina's pitching staff held Huntsville to .082 AVG with only 1 run scored in the series.
