QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) I cannot believe how many so called knowledgable baseball fans do not understand the basic concepts of baseball that are taught from little league on. I am totally dumbfounded by some of the statements that have been made referring to that Crede play. Un-f***ing-believable. Finally someone who understands, I know from Day one I was told to KEEP THAT BALL on the IF.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:28 AM) As for Buerhle you can easily make the argument that if Crede doesn't mess up that play & Mark gets out of that inning he cruises thru the 7th. It's an entirely different ball game then. Especially if Iggy is sent for that 3rd run. I am tired of hearing about one play blow a game does anyone here really believe that Mark blames him for that loss no, Mark is more upset with himself for making a horrible 3-1 pitch to Hunter than he is at Joe. I give him props for at least going for the ball. -
QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Even though he posts here, I would have to agree. Bullard has been in AA too long. I believe sox's fault, I am not sure what they seen from Philips over Bull. Those two spots should have been switched. That is a mistake

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) But Mitch Wylie was released. He was slated to be on the Charlotte Knights. Spidale, Diaz, Giambi and Person are all guys that are likely to find there way on Charlottes roster in the next week or two. Bham doesn't have any room so its going to be awfully interesting to see what goes down the next two weeks because I anticipate a few cuts will be made. Obviously the Knights have some vets they could unload or the Sox could deal some AAA guys for A ball players (I know Kanny could use some help in certain areas, although I've yet to really look hard at all the rosters, will be doing that after my midterm tomorrow when I start the season preview articles...even though the seasons started). I am thinking that Owens or Young will find there way to Winston-Salem or I hope anyway these guys have talent and I hate to see them get rushed the way they are. Making the A to AA jump is already the toughest but then throw in Low A to AA and that is very rough. These guys do not need to rush absoultly no reason.

I much rather have my 3rd Baseman diving and hustling for plays than one who never gets dirty. I am glad cooler heads are finally here becuase to blame one player for a loss is stupid. Hindsight is always 20/20 Mistakes happen all the time in games that 3-1 pitch to hunter down the pipe wasn't smart either and i can bet Mark is more upset with him self over that pitch than with Crede

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) There's a difference between rooting for someone and realizing that they are not a good hitter and have been playing horrid defense. I won't make a judgement on that one play Mark would have given up those runs sooner or later he is way off tonight -

QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) Hunter's next at bat, they've got to make him move his feet. No excuses. We need to stop pussing out to this guy. That is exactly right Hunter will continue to victim us until somebody comes with enough guts to do something about him. That was an awful 3-1 pitch that had a hit me all over it -

Barons 6 Jacksonville 2 BARONS 6 8 0 Jacksonville 2 6 2 W- Nik Lubisich L- Eric Hull Lubisich 5 IP 2 H 0 R 3 BB 0 K's Hull 5 IP 3H 2 R 2 BB 4K's Good- Lubisich was outstanding using the weather conditions to his advantage by letting hitters hit the ball into that 24 MPH wind. Meuax was good gave up 2 runs but that was in his 3rd inning of relief. Lamura came in and cooled off a bases loaded one out fire by getting a key strike out of Tydus Meadows. Jerry Owens made an outstanding diving catch. Jon Aceves hit a home run off the Score Board in Left field around 435ft away. Reyes yesterday's hero had 3 hits today including a ringing double in the 9th. Josh Feilds had a hit and drew a walk in the key rally. Bad- Not much other than Strike Outs continue to mount another 11 today to bring total up to 47 in the 4 game series. Chris Young still looks way over matched striking out another 3 times today which makes his Avg .119 Notes: Barons take a split to North Carolina they gain no ground on the leaders Montgomery, Mobile are 4-0 to begin the season. Young got a bloop double today hopefuly this turns him around or Winston-Salem might be his next team.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Charlotte, 1-2, will wrap up their opening 4 game set against Columbus (Yankees) today. The game is just getting underway. Villacis is getting the nod for Charlotte. Birmingham, also 1-2, is also finishing up a 4 game set. The Barons are in Jacksonville (Dodgers) for a 2:05 start time. Nik Lubisich is scheduled to start against Eric Hull. Winston-Salem, 0-2, will try to avoid a sweep against Kinston (Indians). Rafael Flores will pitch against Billy Traber. Traber pitched all of 2003 with the Cleveland Indians, but in 2004 he had surgery and did not pitch at all. His comeback begins today for a 1:00 start time. Kannapolis, 1-2, will close out a 4 game set against Asheville (Rockies) at 4:05. Barons win 6-2 @ Jacksonville W- Lubisich L-Hull

BARONS 4 Jacksonville 3 Barons 4 8 0 Jacksonville 3 7 0 W- Willie Glen 1-0 L- Beau Dannemiller 0-1 Pacheco 5 IP 4H 1R 2 BB 5K's Thompson 5 IP 6H 2 R 3 BB 9K's Good- Pacheco he had his old magic droping some nasty breaking pitches. Had several hitters knees buckling had a good back door slider K'ed Joel Guzman to finish Strikeing out the side in the third. Guillermo Reyes went from zero to hero after making an error (later called a hit) on a ball that allowed the tieing and go ahead runs to score, laced a 2 run 2 out single in the 9th to give Barons the lead for good. Josh Fields continued to impress having 2 opposite field singles. Blakely had 2 hard hit singles and 2 Outfield Assists (one to nail a runner at the plate). Andy Gonzalez made a heck of a play on a smash to Short Gonzo made a bare handed throw to force the runner at third to get out of a mess in the First. Ryan Sweeney made a fantasic diving catch and Started the rally with a four pitch walk. Wille Glenn Pitched well out of the pen retiring the first 7. Jenks after a awful outing last night came back and went 1-2-3 in the 9th including a strike out of Delwyn Young with a 98 MPH Fastball. Bad- The Strike Outs continue to mount that is 36 after 3 games. Jerry Owens in 2 on 0 out in the 9th Failed to get a bunt down. Chris young continues to struggle. Notes: Dannemiller did the Carndinal sin of closers which struck Rivera this week. Walking the leadoff hitter which got the rally started without the walk Blakely grounds out harmless to first and the rally never happens. Razor Shines had many arguments with Plate Umpire Jason Dunn who made some very questionable calls including a check swing strike on Andy Gonzalez which nearly ended the rally. The inning before he made a questionable call on a ball hit down the LF line that allowed the go ahead run to score. Razor will always with out throwing a fit will defend his players and I appuald him. Great win tonight for the Barons

QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Charlotte hosts Columbus looking to avoid a sweep. Brandon McCarthy will make his AAA debut. Start time 6:15 CST. Birmingham is at Jacksonville also looking to avoid a sweep. Pacheco will go against Derek Thompson at 6:05. The Warthogs, also winless at 0-1 (notice a trend ), will play at Kinston at 6. It's a battle of lefties as Daniel Haigwood goes against Indians' top 10 pick from the '04 draft Jeremy Sowers. This will be Sowers' pro debut. Kanny, 1-1, is hosting Asheville. At 6:05 Ray Liotta will go against Ching-Lung Lo. Barons win 4-3 in very dramtic fashion

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Lol Gene. On a sidenote, Razor is quite the guy. Definately keeps his players loose. Razor is a great manager and never says anything bad about his players that was why last year when we had inferior talent we still won 73 games and the 2nd half title. Good guy

Birmingham Barons @ Jacksonville Suns game #3 Derek Thompson (5-7, 3.72) vs Enemecio Pacheco (0-0, 3.55) These pitchers both had arm trouble last season. Baron's lit Thompson up to the tune 9 Earned in 1 1/3 innings last season. This is a big game for both these pitchers and the Barons a little more so becuase of the 2 losses to a divison foe. Availble Bullpen this game: Willie Glen Dwayne Pollok Ryan Meuax Corwin Malone

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Unfortunately it won't be at 3rd base in place of Crede... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws How nice it must be to get your first start of the season against Johan Santana. :banghead That won't faze him I believe it Pablo back in 1999 he took a line off the face from Albert Pujols in fielding drills back in the Midwest League where Albert and him where teamates @ Peoria. I have a lot of respect for Pablo and he is a much underated player

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Indeed. I would hate to trade Carl because he would be a stud bat off the bench once Frank is healthy. But with the way Crede is looking ONCE AGAIN, we will most likely need a good 3rd baseman by the All-Star break. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Hint: They are talking about Crede. I doubt any trade with Feilds waiting in the wings Feilds looked very impressive tonight. He will be the future at 3rd

Jacksonville 10 Barons 5 Jacksonville 10 11 2 Barons 5 7 1 W- Willie Juarez L- Corwin Malone Broxton 4 IP 3R 3H 1BB 3K's Tracey 4 IP 3R 3H 4BB 3K's Good- Blakely 3-run HR in the 4th, Feilds showing a good batting eye a walk getting hit by 2-0 pitch setting up the Blakely 3-run HR Josh also had a 2 run Double and made 2 great Beginings of DP's one 5-3 and a 5-4-3 DP. Andy Gonzalez 3-4 all 4 at bats Andy hit rockets and made an awsome Play in the hole at short. Finally Corwin Malone while the line score won't show it pitched very well with his curve being very effective getting a couple of K's. Bad- Pitching staff had 8 base on balls, Jenks came in with 2 malone runners on and promptly gave them up ruining what was a good outing by Corwin. Jenks also gave up 4 more runs after the 2 Malone runs. NOTES: I believe LA has found them there SS of the future in Joel Guzman I was real impressed with his power to all feilds he is the ripe ole age of 20.
