All I remember from Wright is one game where he shutout Texas. It was a gem, like a CG 2 hitter. I never regarded him to be a stud though

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) I don't think there is good reason for being confident about Brandon in the rotation next year. His stuff is good, but it isn't great. And I don't think you can gloss over the fact that he's pitched poorly this season. It isn't enough to say "he's never been a reliever before." So what? It frequently happens that good starting pitching prospects come up to the majors and pitch out of the bullpen for a while. Those who later become good starters usually do well out of the bullpen. Hell, it is alwasy easier to pitch out of the bullpen than as a starter. Usually you only go one time through the lineup and you don't pitch long enough to tire during the game. So why should I be confident that his poor 2006 season means nothing? It seems like people are working hard to come up with a reason to think McCarthy will be a good starter next year. I hope it is more than fan optimism. Sorry, still can't compare it to me, even if other pitchers did it. The last time I remember the Sox trying to progress a starter through the pen was Cotts. Was tops in the minor leagues, came up, then started in the wrong situations, got lit up, and there goes that starting career. Buehrle was the last successful one I can remember and no one saw him coming. I like how we did it with Garland, throw him to the lions, keep him out there, didn't look like he'd be anything special, and BAM, back to back stellar seasons. Just so different for me to compare. More likely to inherit runners, might be more comfortable pitching out of the wind up, just have a different strategy if you know your max is probably 2 innings and you can't allow anything. Start to press and then throw fat ones up there. If you start and know hits or a run won't hurt, just a different mindset.

Only read the 1st page but Tony's wasn't bad -
As I said in the other thread, I am giving him a free pass, he showed me something 2 years ago starting, and you can't compare that role to a bullpen role. Prep, mindset, everything is different, the problem though is he will probably not be used to a full year of starting and will probably break down

WHITE SOX POSTGAME EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

How sad, the Indians are currently blowing out the A's in Oakland -
I disagree, I think the Sox won in spite of Ozzie in 05. It doesn't have to be an extreme, there can be exceptions and good moves, like the Game 3 of the ALDS (El Duque move, bunting the runner in from 3rd), but I think Kenny deserves more praise then Ozzie. and it should be noted that that doesn't excuse KW for this year either. The way he handled the Frank situation was a joke and an embarrasment. Made some great deals, but also some questionable ones, and going for it all now is nice, but I thought there were ways to do it without trading away the farm system, might be rough in a few years

WHITE SOX POSTGAME EXTRAVAGANZA!!!

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) I have never compared him to either of those guys, just making a point here(I realize you aren't calling out me). I will go say right now though that if Brandon McCarthy is in our rotation full time next year he'll have an era under 4. If someone would like to bookmark this or whatever to try and prove me wrong then go for it. Agreed, thinking that being a good starter automatically translates in the bullpen or that you can compare the two roles is dumb. Fact is that last year BMac (along with Jose) helped saved this team from a real collapse and shut down the top offenses in the league during the final weeks/months of the season, teams who were fighting for a playoff spot. It wasn't broke and they tried to fix it. Vazquez? Ugh. If you have to put him in why ruin the future of McCarthy. Already f***ed with his head with the whole playoff roster thing. Could've just kept El Duque and put him in the bullpen, he showed he could do it at the end of the year and in the playoffs. Gave up a good minor leaguer in that deal too, damn -

Ozzie post game, "We still in a pennant race", what a joke, then he made some comment about if he did not show to play tomorrow he wouldn't have a job or being doing a job. I wish he would retire. Maybe if he's booed enough this week or some reporter gets testy enough he could make a dumb comment. Quick, two guys go kiss in front of Ozzie -
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) I just can't accept this. Even the '04 Cubs, a team that I thought was loaded, could play the injury card. What's this team's excuse? Not really, they did the same thing we did, we had issues with TB, Cleveland, KC, etc. All they had to do to make the playoffs in 04 was beat NY and Pittsburgh (two worst teams in the league) and they couldn't do it

Since the big league club decided to take the 2nd half off and quit, might as well literally give them the last two weeks of the season off and send a message. Sweeney, Anderson, Owens, Fields, Gload, etc should start. Doesn't matter anyways, might as well give them more big league experience.

Calm down Hawk and DJ, I guess we may as well prep for next year though, good for the announcers to accept it as well. Nice goin Josh

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) Well....McCarthy right now looks like another one of the hyped up Sox prospects who doesn't have the physical ability to match their hype. His stuff is mediocre. The Sox just love to f*** with their players heads when they do succeed, like calling up pitchers way too early or in the case of McCarthy, turning him into a bullpen guy when he looked like a stud starter who saved the Sox season last year at the end of the year (and looked like the only bright spot of optimism the Spring of that year when nothing looked great). Anderson only facing lefties when he has better stats against righties and being platooned to ruin his morale, etc etc etc

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Carl was right. Carl is an idiot who can't even make it on a big league club right now. Chemistry has nothing to do with this debacle

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) They are sold out Well yeah, but I can see a lot of no shows and brokers not being able to sell them

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) And I was looking forward to my tickets on Wednesday for the longest frickin time. I'll take em, I could go for some nachos or elotes. How empty are those games vs Seattle gonna be?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) I love how our players wait until there's an opportunity for a DP to hit perfectly positioned ground balls. If we lose, that should be about it. You can't realistically expect this ballclub to go on a 11-1 run, whereas hoping Minnesota or Detroit collapse. Before last year, the Sox always got hot when they were elminated, they'll probably tease you like that. I wouldn't be surprised if most of them got their ring, and don't want to go through everything that comes with the championship (all the interviews, appearances, shortened offseason, etc). If Buerhle cared, he would notice that he gave up runs in every 1st inning of every game this year and change something to his prep. AJ would do something other than a light jog or not go out for a huge party and come back in the wee hours of the morning for an important division game early in the year. They don't care, it's about collecting the paychecks for most of these guys now

There are automatic outs because Ozzie only doesn't use L/L R/R mathups when they make sense. Last year KW was the biggest factor for the WS and we won in spite of Ozzie, this year they've both sucked ass. You were set with McCarthy in the rotation (showing every making of a stud, came in last year and saved the Sox, shutting down the league's top offenses) and El Duque as a long man in the pen, instead you go and trade for Vazquez who has sucked for years except for one game against the Sox, and take a guy who gives up the long ball in a park that gives up the long ball with the best of them, giving up a solid bullpen guy and a stud prospect in the prospect. You make the right move by parting with Rowand (but again give up too much on the minor leaguers) to make way for the Anderson era (who would be a ROTY candidate if played everyday, instead of mainly starting against lefties, when he statiscally hits righties better), but then Ozzie f***s up with his Mackowiak mancrush (like Timo last year), who is in bewilderment on what he is doing in Center, saying he sucks defensively there, even though everyone knew Mack would be a nice bat off the bench and fill in for Joe or the corner outfielders (though he gets put in Center, where he costs us some games, which would help tremendously right now). Team was built to win now, this team will be a mess in a few years

I wish Hawk could swear on the air to get his ass canned. I'm sick of his 'get foul' on their sure fire HR's and the excited STRETCH! (not even to the warning track) or earlier this year, screaming LITTLE CHOPPER! at a ball that was an east ground out to end the game

here we go, make this the turn around inning

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) Pat Foley signed on as the new voice of the Chicago Wolves. He must have wanted to stay in Chicago more than staying in the NHL. How sad, he makes more with the Wolves than the Blackhawks even offered him -

It was on last night, I had it on the background while doing some HW. It might have been integrated to Sportscenter like a poster said above though
