I really like Jim Gaffigan. Was also a Mitch fan (RIP). Sometimes I will try out the XM online free 3 day preview just to listen to the comedy channel when in need of a laugh or someone new to look up

Sounds like shots at Arena http://my.whitesox.v.mlb.com/newsarticle.a...rticleId=701923 Don't follow the US team that much, but found it a little odd that Arena blasted Donovan and Beasley in public. Isn't he the one playing them out of position? -
HS Senior rips his own graduating class.

"The high school senior in Punta Gorda, Fla., has gained national attention after giving a graduation speech that depicted his school as full of cheating, drug use and preferential treatment for athletes". Sounds like every high school in America, mine included. I give the kid credit though, I had (still are friends with) many high school friends, kept closer those that I shared interests with, but was still annoyed with the drug use. I dealed with it, just refused when offered, but don't fault him for making it a presentable issue. Don't care about what people do on their own time, but got sick of the marijuana stench from the kid in front of me in my class at 7 am, and found it funny that I had to pay $75 for a bogus ticket but frequently saw smoke coming from the stalls or kids with joints while walking to school or during gym class. Jock preferrential treatment was also true. If I was late or absent I had to go to the dean's office and go under a congressional type hearing only to get detention or suspension, while the basketball player was able to come in a couple hours late after the admitted excuse of being a little tired from the basketball game last night (doesn't help when the basketball coach is the dean) Cheating was easy for friends, many teachers were oblivious to some of the methods being used. Always a way to beat it. Also wanted to add though, it says he's going to the University of Florida, yeahh, he'll see that a lot of things don't change -
OFFICIAL GO CUBBIES THIS WEEKEND THREAD!!!

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) Frankly, I couldn't care less who wins. The Cubs are a joke who will be lucky to finish 4th in their division and the Tigers are currently a bunch of unproven front-runners. The former isn't worth caring about at all and the latter isn't worth caring about until August. Exactly, I will cheer for the Sox and that is all. If the Sox don't win the division they wouldn't have anyone to blame but themselves. The Tigers losing to the Cubs is not very likely anyways, I wouldn't waste a breath on these games -

Brazil is good but looks vulnerable (bad word, maybe, 'not unbeatable') to me More bad news for USA, Totti cleared to play Saturday (after it looked like he might have hurt his leg again) and Gattuso (YES!) and Zambrotta should also be available -

I hate the Cubune spin Chicagosports.com poll question: 'Which Cub rookie pitcher has you most excited? Sean Marshall or Carlos Marmall?' Where is the 'who gives a ----?' option? Horrible team, and they try and make it look positive, while the real story in town is the White Sox. Also on the frontpage is a story about a guy who thinks Wrigley should have a new scoreboard and be more modern. It is beginning, they are starting to lessen the blow to when they do make it more modern (charging even more for tickets), and completely contradicting what they've been selling for years -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Why wouldn't there be a US update at halftime. If we were in Germany they would be giving constant updates of the German team. Just beat Italy and Ghana and they should be in decent shape, correct? In other words, start packing -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) I still don't get that damn WCIU HD channel though I did get ESPN2HD today which was awesome for World Cup action. The funny thing is when the broadcast started, DJ said "this game in HD on WCIU is brought to you by Comcast". Not in my area! Very stoked for ESPN2HD though

One bullpen arm away from being a lock to win it all IMO. I don't see CF as an issue at all. With the lineup we have, I will easily take BA's average in the 9 spot and his great defense over Mackowiak who may contribute to an extra run and then give up 3. FYI, there were stretches when Rowand was just as bad last year, except we now added Thome to that lineup. The bullpen is the issue (in part due to injuries), and that would look better if the starting pitching would look better, but I'm not sweating the pitching because they have been good enough to keep on pace with last year, which means a playoff lock, so they can save it when they're important. There is one team in front of us, the Tigers, who we own (5-1, much better stat than standings in early June), and they've been looking like Enron lately. Besides, looking at the standings now doesn't mean anything, I thought people would actually learn from the satisfaction of October that it's a 162 game haul, and not go "OMG this thing is ours, (insert team we beat) is so overrated, they suck" when we win a game, and then question if we'll make the playoffs when we lose one.

Today was awesome (especially with Comcast adding ESPN2HD just in time, Soccer in HD is the goods) Can't wait til Monday, Italy's first match and US/Czech should be very entertaining. Looking forward to watching my Italians, but hate all these injuries that keep popping up. Totti is supposed to play even though he's not 100%, but now Gattuso got hurt, he's one of my favorite players Has anyone heard this bizarre story about Togo? Haven't looked for a link but saw it on Fox Soccer Channel. Appareantly the team has decided to go on strike right at the start of the World Cup! They say if their pay increase demands aren't met that they won't play, crazy QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) Holy schnikes! Didn't know he signed with Chelsea. Ballack, I knew about. WOW! They might as well just sign every great striker in the world. What are they going to do with Shevchenko, Crespo, Drogba, and Gudjohnson? Might as well run a 4-2-4. I heard Crespo might go back to Milan (he said he and his family like Italy), but I guess the whole scandal is making everything a little iffy -
QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) How do you figure? They're both detrimental to one's health in the long run, steroids provide the strength and recovery time to effectively produce better numbers, however amphetamines keep players in the lineup and cut down on the fatigue a player has throughout the year so that they can have good numbers. Both are also illegal. I agree, I think it's probably too common (with the clubhouse having 2 pots of coffee with one being marked for amphetimine), or that it's not related to muscle strength, and the big deal about the steroids is the HR numbers, but as we know steroids can be just as effective for a player without numbers, and both make it an unlevel playing field (but this is baseball, where every player looks for any advantage they can)

QUOTE(Drew @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) Ozzie is a good manager, yes. The fact that he isn't classy is one of the things that makes him endearing to fans and players. When I think of 'great' managers, I think of Tommy Lasorda, Sparky Anderson, Whitey Herzog, maybe I'd put Tony LaRussa and Lou Piniella in that group. What Ozzie does not have that all of these do is a long career of sustained success. If Ozzie puts together another decade and a half of seasons like last one, he'll be in this group as well. That is one sweet sig

Let's take it easy now. Boone Logan once looked good as well. Obviously a different situation but can we see some more games and different situations before we annoint him?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) Way to have an open mind. He's being realistic, people who think otherwise are just slurping everything Uncle Bud feeds them. He (I guess not completely his fault, in a tough spot with Fehr, but probably all in on it) fooled Congress because those hearings (and the members) were a joke, they didn't know what I thought was common knowledge (guess not) that HGH was the way to go with it being undetectable with a urine test. The reason why the whole policy was a joke. Also, I love Thome, but being upfront about it means nothing. Palmeiro was "upfront" about it under oath. I'm sure most of the guys felt safe with HGH being undetectable and the players' union having their back, but it's all crashing down with what happened with Grimsley. Not only did Grimsley have names, but they will go to his supplier, and I'm sure the FBI has tabs on other suppliers. I will still love baseball though, it will be rough times ahead, but I love the game more than I love certain players (they come and go no matter what). I love pitching matchups and close games, but I also hopes guys are also able to hit more than 20-30 HRs Also, as noted before, you can't tell anything by looking at a guy's size or stats. Not to mention it's different on TV as compared to standing next to the guy. And if you see them without their shirt on or just in a normal Tshirt, guys you wouldn't suspect are ripped/huge

I would put in Jose, Jenks, Iguchi, and Dye. Depending on how the rest of the time goes, Vazquez, AJ, and Crede are also right there for me Also, as far as Maggs go, heard an interview with Ozzie earlier in the season, heard that they buried the hatchet earlier (I think Maggs may have come to Ozzie and they settled it)

I read that Gathright is back in the minors now with Baldelli being activated. Saw you mentioned Soriano, but I doubt that. The price would definately be high. One of the best hitters in the game right now (probably is with Pujols out) Don't see Hunter being traded within the division I think Freel has performed below expectations, but Cinci loves him, he's like RMack, can play anywhere, I think they would keep him (also still in the race, would probably want something to win now, wouldn't give McCarthy for Freel) Pierre...ehhh, having a bad year, would rather raid their pen

I heard a Score interview with a Baltimore paper guy and he said that they basically brought him in for his D and that it's been very good. He'd be placed in the 8th or 9th spot, so he could just do his thing, and more speed. I actually thought the Yankees were definately going to trade for him before they signed for Damon

QUOTE(T R U @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) Pretty much, all I eat is Tuna, Chicken, Turkey, Peanut Butter, and protein shakes.. I usually go through a case of water every 2 weeks, and for the most part thats all I drink except some occasions Just wondering what protein shakes? I'm big on water. Once in a while I'll have Gatorade (though I hear it takes out some important things that water puts in?). Some soda (without caffeine) and sometimes apple juice as well Anyone ever tried Slimfast? I think I'd be embarrased to buy it, but they are still in business...

Exhibit A Exhibit B On another note, sometimes I think the players start the gay rumors themselves as an excuse to show off their hot ass ladies (Piazza, Garcia in football)
