QUOTE(T R U @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) Let me bold this for you guys.. DOING AB WORKOUTS WILL NOT GET RID OF THAT FAT You need to do CARDIO All you are doing with ab workouts are building the muscles UNDER the fat, so you could have ripped abs but no one will be able to see them unless you do cardio.. Cardio and a healthy diet is the KEY to getting rid of that fat, but dont burn yourself out doing TONS of abs expecting the fat to melt right off, its cardio This is pretty basic but incase you didnt know, you have to burn more calories than you intake every day to lose weight.. and you arent gonna lose it all within days.. it takes weeks and months for you to get where you need to be.. BTW Im majoring in Kinesiology for Personel Training and what not so anything else youd like some advice for, feel free to ask I try to keep it separate, but sometimes I do both cardio and weight training on the same day. Will it have negative effects? Better since I'm going the extra mile? No effect at all?

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread

It gone -
While you're at it, throw some love towards our man the Gooch. He's not that far behind, and he's got Japan behind him as well EDIT: Also, if serious for voting for Dye, it may be wise to vote for two other crappy outfielders. Since you have to vote for 3, don't want to raise the count of those ahead of him

Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) So if this guy posts one of these every day, and some of us are interested to see what the actual numbers are, will there be 5-10 posts every day saying "Yawn, this doesn't matter, etc." If for no reason other than curiosity, I'd say that it's interesting to keep track of these numbers. If people don't care, then they don't have to read the threads. Sound like a fair deal? Yep, agree. I mean, if you're homophobic, would you go into a gay club? -
Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread
3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 replied to Hangar18's topic in The Diamond Club
I like the media watches, mainly because I've already given up on the Cubune anyways. There's a 'who cares' attitude towards the media, well I have the same one towards what other people think, especially if they're dumb enough to be Cubs fans. It's hard to avoid the Cubs in this city (media forces it down your throat), friends who are Cubs fans rip on the Sox, so I will rip back. Yes, I hate the Cubs, and no it doesn't make me less of a Sox fan, doesn't take precedence over being a Sox fan, doesn't mean I care more about the Cubs than I do the Sox (and if you think so, tell me how you measured that, because I'd be fascinated), and doesn't mean that I equally don't hate the Indians, Twins, Tigers, etc. From his threads at WSI, I could tell that Hangar is a great Sox fan (better than many I've seen post there), but he gets the shaft just because he hates the Cubs. -

I want Bargnani, though I think he'll go number one. Not sold on Aldrige or TT. Wouldn't be mad about Roy, but don't think he'd be taken at 2 or if Bargnani was still there. I think there's a real good chance Pax trades the pick though. I also find the second pick interesting though, some guys could be there that could help out. -
Vampire Protests White Castle Garlic Sandwich

When I was young I had a book about dumb and weird criminals. One story was about a guy who was stopped for speeding. He pleaded with the cop, saying he was a vampire and had to get home before the sun came up. We'll never know the truth, as the cop let him off -
Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........
3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 replied to Thunderin'Thome's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm guessing it's already been said in 11 pages, but I'm not going through all that. Yeah, agree, dumb idea. Lets try to convert a third basemen into an outfielder on the big league level for a team looking for a World Championship, uhhh no. What about when he only has 1 hit or no hits in 2 games and everyone will be calling for his and Ozzie's head! There's a reason Pods is left, he has speed, but that doesn't translate to a good defender. Ask any Brewers fan, he was not good in center. He's better than Pablo (duh), but don't know how he'd compare to Mackowiak, wouldn't come close to Anderson. Plus that arm...no, please, no no! I don't see how we can keep dissing Anderson when he's a rookie who can't get regular playing time. Hard for anyone to hit when you're not a regular, let alone a rookie who gets to face Sabathia, Santana, etc. Anderson's situation reminds me a lot of Crede's, who had been blasted for years even though he always brought the leather. They stuck him low in the order, let him do his thing, worked with him, let him gain some experience, and now he's a Sox legend and is putting up good numbers. I know, it's an iffy situation with Mackowiak having better offensive numbers and having the clutch HR the other week, and I could see sending Brain down as the only way for him to get regular ABs, but definately a 'no' on the Fields proposal. Plus, I don't like Mackowiak's defense (already cost us one game). In a lineup with Thome, Konerko, Dye, AJ, Crede all doing great, and pitching being iffy, I can concede the offense we lose with Brian (which I think would get better if he played more regularly) and his defense. -

QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 26, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) Oh My God! USA are at number 5! How can that be right? 1 Brazil 2 Czech Republic 3 The Netherlands 4 Mexico 5 USA 5 Spain 7 Portugal 8 France 9 Argentina 10 England 11 Nigeria 11 Denmark 13 Italy 14 Turkey 15 Cameroon 16 Sweden 17 Egypt 18 Japan 19 Germany 20 Greece They're above France, Italy, Spain.............everyone! Hell you fella's are almost favourites and we're the underdogs. I agree, aside from my heart wanting England, Argentina are my choice to win as long as they can all get on with each other and enough referees look the wriong way. He had a scan today and looks to be on track to play after the group games. Although he will need a further scan durin the group rounds. Those are a joke -
I only saw a lame one (against Seattle) where some guy asked him about his ring. This one sounds much better

QUOTE(WinningUgly85 @ May 21, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) I will never forget the interview that Barrett had with Comcast last season. He said that he didn’t want the Sox gaining more of a fan base and he didn’t like the fact that the Cubs could be referred to as Chicago’s second team. Also I remember him on the Score in the offseason, crying like a little b**** of how jealous he was of the parade, saying that the Sox and fans "were walking on our streets" (Barrett using the word 'our', saying the Cubs own the streets/Chicago). He clearly doesn't know how to control or handle jealousy

Question about the banner

QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ May 20, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) Obviously, Baker was merely stating that he himself did not see any punches thrown, not that there were no punches thrown at all. I can't say I'm a fan of that banner. Okay, thinking of it like that, I can see how people say it was taken out of context. Thanks -

QUOTE(Walker2Baines @ May 20, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) And he could have been looking elsewhere when the punch was thrown. I mean a game was still going on. All Sox fans hate the f***ing cubs but this obession needs to f***ing stop. Who gives a f***ing s*** about them? Why don't you not f***ing worry about me, maybe your obsession with what other people are thinking about should f***ing stop -
Did Baker really say that? I know he's stupid, but come on

Monopoly is coming out with a modern version of the game, and is using online voting for each city to have a landmark represent the city. The choices for Chicago are Wrigely Field, Michigan Avenue, and Navy Pier. Of course, Wrigley is leading 67%, and Michigan Avenue is the next closest at 18%. I voted for Michigan Avenue anyways, but I don't want that stinky urinal, team, and a history of losing representing the city, making the generalization that all people in Chicago care about is the Cubs and dissing the Sox even more. I don't know how popular Monopoly will be in the future, but future generations will grow up to this, so rock the vote http://www.hasbro.com/monopoly/

some thoughts on my first sox game this season
3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 replied to GoRowand33's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, the upperdeck is underrated, or I guess a better thing to say is the upper deck criticism is overrated. Watch any other game and the majority of stadiums have upper tanks that look the same, if not worse, I don't get why everyone rips on ours. I was in about your same section for ring day, and am the biggest scaredy cat of heights. It's a real nice view, and even if you are really scared, the first four rows are fine, or you could just go to the Fundamentals deck. Also, there are ways of getting into the lower bowl -

This thread blows, when there's no single game tickets left for sale, I'll use that as a barometer for a full stadium rather than ESPN's thing where they sometimes have stadiums at 130% full. Post is obviously directed at the fans, and the games were listed as sold out...
