Ronnie Brown is in camp, expected to sign a contract today
-
This is from a reliable source from WSI who is affiliated with Charlotte. He had the Adkins info earliest in the morning on trade deadline day, and then it was reported in print much later. He also hinted that Shingo would be released as there was no locker or plane info for him after he was designated. Interesting to do this before Sep 1. Obviously it's because of Pods but now he gets a shot at the playoff roster EDIT: Sorry just now saw that it was already in the Willie Harris thread

Angela from Who's the Boss, when she was in her robes, mercy! She's old and crusty now though

I'd rather see Harris out there and in that lineup spot than Pablo. It's funny because I said Timo last night and everyone sharted all over me for it, and now he has a nice day today and everyone likes him a little better. Case in point, the 'he hasn't done anything to deserve a spot' excuse is crap, no one on the bench or the minors has done anything to deserve it, and no one on the bench can because they're on the bench. I don't even care who plays left, as long as Pods can get rest, be on the playoff roster, and come back in time for our big run. There's no need to play around, I'm the most superstitious guy out there, and I know a postseason spot is clinched, now all that's being played for is homefield, possibly pride. Get well soon Pods and Hermy

Gamethread sunday vs sawx 8/14/05

Sep 5th, 1 pm, in between two home games, ugh I wouldn't be surprised if this had something to do with Espn not wanting a game going on during their Sunday game -
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Timo hasn't done a single thing to deserve to start for two weeks. Hard to do something when on the bench. This is more about filling in, as this stretch of the season is basically garbage time, and I don't want to see Pablo in LF anymore after his weakass effort tonight. What have any of the possible replacements 'done' to deserve a start?
-
I don't want to rush Owens I'd like Timo to fill in, but it doesn't solve the lead off issue, but it isn't really an issue when you've got nothing to play for until October. This would be a Huge advantage for us to have a rested Pods in the playoffs with fresh legs, of course, all under the assumption that it's not a long DL stint, get him off the DL before Sep 1st, but you might not need to play him until after the 1st week or two of September, and tell him not to go SB crazy

Same here, must've been taken down

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) BTW -- McCarthy's line tonight (in a rain shortened game): 7 IP, 7 Ks, 3 Hs, 0 R, 0 BBs. His ERA is down to 4.18. Quick saying that he's just gonna be a #4-#5 is one of the dumbest things I've read on this site in a while. Too many people jump the gun with young players (it makes sense to be worried I suppose, with all the busts there are), there may be rare cases, but a starting pitcher in the Major Leagues needs time to develop and learn how to pitch to Major League hitters. Garland is a great example -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) Hawk slurping Ken Griffey Jr. saying he knows him and Frank didn't take steroids. Sounds like he's campaigning for him. That pretty much means he's not coming to me. This got me thinking as well. Hawk always touts the company line, as he is a JR buttkisser (he seriously tried to sell having Harris starting Opening Day on the score a couple years ago), so I was thinking we had no chance when he was doing the "Where's he gonna play?" thing, but maybe talks are starting to change now after singling him out with Frank as a clean player? (Do we know Griffey was clean? You don't have to be huge to have taken them, and he has the injury trends) -
