  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) BUT HOW LONG IS HE OUT FOR?! He is making good progress, so instead of missing the year, there are reports he will be ready to start around Sep 1
  2. Sox have options of Torres, Colon, maybe Garcia until Peavy gets back. The only real problem is tonight. Honestly I would take that for multiple years of Peavy
  3. Reifert: We get Peavy for Richard and 3 minor league pitchers
  4. No hackers, Heyman saying it on MLB Network, he thinks Peavy may have approved it, but speculation on his part Yeah, just saw on his ESPN page that he's making better progress and could be back instead of missing the year
  5. If he rejects again and Kenny wasted his time then he'll be blasted
  6. Big game for the offense considering they have to face Burnett and Sabathia in the next couple days...
  7. QUOTE (3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Bob Nightengale Twitter: Twins talking to A's about Michael Wuertz Now he says the Twins are talking to DBacks for Jon Rauch
  8. He is texting/making jokes with Harold Reynolds and MLB Network crew. That should tell you how busy he is...
  9. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) VAFan, Swisher was hardly better than a replacement player last year for us and was playing so bad that he was benched for Wise. Yeah we sat him and then expected him to come up big when pitch hitting vs TB, brilliant!
  10. I don't get why fans were so adamant to boo him last night (from the start). So he wasn't happy when he was benched. Would you be lighting up a big smile for your organization if you got demoted at your job? He was a good personality and did a lot of good charity type stuff. Kind of annoying to me when we salivate over guys when they're here and then demoralize them once Kenny gets rid of them (things I would expect to happen to the likes of Wise or Kotsay once they are gone. And no, I'm not speaking for everyone, but you know there's that subset that does this)

  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 01:33 PM) Halladay's value goes down a ton if he's not traded in the next hour and a half. Riccardi really does screw himself if he doesn't get something done. One or all of NY, Bos, LA, etc will be disappointed once the offseason starts. I don't think his value will be that hurt (though Tor will prob lower their expectations too, but overall I think they can get a good deal) It's funny, Tor is not that much worse than us (at least some one will agree with me the unbalanced sched is lame) f*** it, just keep him!
  13. I don't think Ricciardi is that screwed. If he doesn't get what he wants he can always make a move in the offseason
  14. Not sure if they're kidding, but MLB Network is talking about texting with KW during the break (that he asked for ideas, Harold Reynold just gave a sleeper list and they said 'Here you go Kenny, this is your text back!')
  15. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) I believe it was ss2k5 who said it, but: Kenny made his deal. He acquired Peavy. Peavy Jayson Nix'd it. Unless they deal Fields, I believe the Sox are done. Well thank you KW for wasting your time. Everyone and their mother knows he is scared enough about the AL, and that there was no way he was coming to our park. There are theories out there that KW did this just to get this very reaction from fans and/or had some sort of agreement to jumpstart interest in Peavy. As time goes by, I keep thinking those theories aren't that far fetched (especially after the comments about being hurt by attendance) Jon Heyman twitter: #twins deal for orlando cabrera helps them. but #tigers trade was even better. chisox, your move.
  16. I still have hope, but I did during the offseason too (and really got nothing). It scares me that with so many holes, it's looking like one of our priorities was getting Anderson out of the oganization
  17. OC was money for us down the stretch, while most of our guys s*** their pants once Quentin went down. He made some stupid decisions (he just doesn't seem that bright to me), but honestly, he was really just trying to jump start us from the usual HR or nothing GIDP ball we fall into way too often His D was very disappointing though
  18. Yeah, that's another part that makes it sound weird to me. Okay, communication can make the reports be wrong, but they said he will be back tonight. Don't kidney stones linger? Did he release them? Should he really have been pitching if it was bothering him?
  19. http://mynorthwest.com/?nid=422&sid=195479 I was eyeing him but knew we'd be too cheap to pay him
  20. So the story goes from: not available due to illness, not at the ballpark, ozzie says he has issues, issues turn into family issues, and now it's kidney stones? Sounds kind of weird
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) How many times can everyone say the same s*** over and over again in different threads. KW never has and never will be a seller, period. What White Sox GM has everyone been watching for the last decade? The 04-05 offseason, letting Maggs walk and then trading Carlos Lee. It worked out great, but if Kenny says he was thinking 'Championship' while making those deals then he's a damn liar. If it wasn't for the World Series we would've lost Konerko at the end of that year too
  22. The Sox should sell but they should be in a Tor mindstate in that's its not absolutely necessary. If the prospects/players you get back don't really blow you away, then forget it. The division is winnable, but big deal...it's not even likely with the schedule we have. Sure, in 05 we won it when everyone counted the team out in Sept, but we still had a damn good record and a good track record that season. This season we have been .500 more or less all damn year. We are average and have too many holes to contend
