  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) Monday John Danks versus Glen Perkins. The tale of two talented lefties coming off injury problems, Danks with the blister/circulatory issue and Perkins with more troubling shoulder tendinitis and a visit to Dr. Lewis Yocum. We all know about John's problems pitching in the Metrodome. Tuesday Buehrle versus Baker Baker beat the White Sox his last start against us, but he's got a career 6.88 ERA against the Sox. Coming off perfect game, what will happen? Wednesday Bartolo Colon versus Liriano Liriano 0-3 with an 8.00 ERA career against the White Sox, 4-10 with a 5.56 ERA on the season and struggling mightily. If the White Sox were to lose the first two, we should definitely go with Contreras in this game. I can't believe Colon is in the rotation over Torres and Richard...or maybe we will start Richard SAT at home agains the Yankees? Thankfully, we don't see Blackburn. Swarzak has taken the place of Slowey. I think we'll win the first two and win the last one...or, at least I hope. Actually, I hope for a sweep. Get it done. Tigers going to Texas...so they'll have their hands full.
  2. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 08:24 AM) Did they shoot off the fireworks on your wedding night?? they could have...everything has a price at the cell...its amazing. I almost was able to purchase the world series trophy, but negotiations broke down.
  3. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) Man, my wife would have kicked my ass had I even suggested getting married at a ballpark. You've got a good woman there, dude...congrats. Actually, she suggested getting married at the Cell.
  4. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 10:38 AM) Congrats. Thats pretty cool. I was thinking about doing this for my wedding. Put aside $4000. They made me pay for security...no joke.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) Why wasn't Southpaw invited? For a few hundred bucks, he would have been.
  6. Here are some pictures from my wedding...had both the wedding and reception at the cell.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) Is he really only 5'11? Wow... The Sox site says Konerko is 6' 2"...but I met him, and I'm that tall, and I was taller than him. I say Paul is only 6 feet.
  8. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) Tony, I think the MLB policy will random test all players at some point in their careers so maybe we will know at some point. We caught Manny...so you never know. i think the latin players go back to their country in the off-season and just do what they want.
  9. He's got steroids written all over him...but we may never know. He is a hell of a player though.
  10. Per MLB Trade Rumors: Tigers Bench Magglio Ordonez Indefinitely By Howard Megdal [June 18 at 7:13pm CST] News comes from Tom Gage of the Detroit News that the Tigers are benching Magglio Ordonez indefinitely. Ordonez hasn't been terrible with the average or plate discipline, but his power has disappeared. His season line is .273/.347/.343 entering Thursday's game, and with two home runs all year, he simply hasn't been a middle-of-the-order hitter. Between Ordonez's benching and the news that Carlos Guillen may not return this season, the Tigers are facing a power deficit. While they are in first place now, it is hard to imagine they will stay there all season without adding some offense. Keep in mind, Ordonez receives $18MM in 2010 if he gets 135 starts or 540 plate appearances in 2009, or 270 starts or 1,080 plate appearances in 2008-2009 combined. Considering he had 144 starts and 623 plate appearances in 2008, that means his benchmarks are actually 126 starts or 457 plate appearances in 2009. Consider that Ordonez is already at 57 starts, 242 plate appearances in 2009, and figure
  11. My story is about the same as the author's...I stopped when all hell broke loose and there were 40 million kinds of cards to buy. I have an assload of Frank and Sammy rookies.
  12. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) It really really really pains me to say that I agree 100%. Howard just doesn't care enough anymore to make the show great, he had an amazing opportunity to really change the medium when he got TWO channels on SIRI/XM and he just didn't have enough gas left in the tank to follow through. I blame Beth Ono. I kind of agree...but it still blows away anything else on radio. I've been listening to the Score more lately, due to baseball, and the commercials are non-f***ing-stop. There is hardly any programming.
  13. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) Damn, the balls were really juiced that year. And was 98 one of those years where Frank somehow totally sucked? Frank only had 29...and then the next year had some injuries and only hit 15. Then he bounced back with a great 2000, as Giambi's cheating ass took the MVP.
  14. Artie is not the greatest standup around, but he is great in interviews and on Stern. Joe Buck is a tool...and ARtie said today that Joe Buck told him to 'Let me have it'...so I think Artie was under the impression that his comedy stylings would be fine in the given environment, on HBO.
  15. The show was dumb and ARtie's fire-bombing spiced it up.
  16. Anyone who gets busted needs to have their numbers 'inelligible' for any awards/records. Take Giambi's MVP award and give it to the guy in second...Frank. Henry Aaron needs to be the homerun leader again...and Roger Maris the single season leader. So glad FRank is clean...and if his name comes out, I will be very sad.
  17. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Reset the Votes! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4264062 There's a shocker...I figured it was all the corked bats.
  18. I think a lot of people are going to piss in troughs.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 03:21 PM) Is that all you have to add to the discussion? Making fun of someone's attempt at parody and telling people who are going to Wrigley (to support the Sox no less) that they are losers? Great stuff. Yes
  20. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) **Breaking News Out of Chincoteague, Virginia** Chicago Cubs sign rights to Little Leaguer Sammy "Ham Sandwich" Trotter Chincoteague - Grover Trotter is a proud papa these days. His 8-year old son Sammy was signed by the Chicago Cubs yesterday after scouts in the area saw the youngster bat. The club secured the rights to young Sammy for $150 and a Ron Santo signed baseball. "I told them scouts that my boy is MLD ready," Mr. Trotter said. It was later explained to him that the acronym is MLB, not MLD. Scouts for the Cubs were apparently in the area to watch a minor league game but stopped for directions at the Trotter trailer. When Mr. Trotter learned that his visitors were scouts for a "big baseball club", he immediately had his son grab a bat. "I told Hammy to grab his bat and show these fellas what hitting's all about," Mr. Trotter belched, crushing an empty Pabst can. Sammy Trotter then proceeded to swing the bat at a series of pitches from his dad. He made contact regularly, and the scouts reported that the youngster had a good technique. "My boy always gets hits in his games," Mr. Trotter beamed. "The ball even makes it close to the fence sometimes." Cubs GM Jim Hendry spoke of the signing and was optimistic of the kid making the club eventually. He stated that the club was looking towards the future as well as the present, and signings like this can make or break an organization. The GM went on to say that the signing was only possible because of beer and hot dog sales at the most recent Cubs-Sox series. "Hey, we may not like the Sox and their fans, but we'll take their money so we can better our club." Lots of effort...big dud. And anyone who goes to Wrigley is a loser...stay on your side of town. F Wrigley Field.
  21. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 02:33 PM) Frank Thomas and Robin Ventura in the house, for Old Home Night I'll be in attendance tonight...which is a bad sign this year. What is Old Home Night?
  22. I love me some FRank Thomas!
