  1. I loved the 'punch AJ' promotion yesterday at the game. The Sox have really learned to have fun with the whole voting process. Love it.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) LOL, I'd have to say, the games fell our way today. I say its because of us. What a great day!

QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 03:46 AM) Im sorry but the 360 is not THAT much better than the current gen IMO to warrant me spending $400 dollars for it.. I have seen the NCAA vids, they arent leaps and bounds better graphics.. so I dont see any reason for me to worry about getting a 360 till the current gen is almost phased out.. Ill own one in prolly a year, but for now I see no reason for me to shell out the cash for something I dont see as a drastic difference The games out now, except a few, aren't using the 360's power yet. One game that looks awesome is Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter...which is a great game.
  4. Thank you, thank you. If anyone has a present for me, I can be found at the Cell today...Section 113, Row CC, Seat 10. Let's go Sox...a win for my b-day!

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) Really, didn't see that. Either way, I'm far too broke to buy either right now. Too broke? Are you living on the streets in River Forest?
  6. Middle Relief is a crap-shoot from year to year. These guys are usually the most unconsistent players from year to year. He'll be great again in '08.

Well, I am a big fan of XBOX and the now the 360...but am certainly open to the option of buying the PS3...but this does not sound like a good thing... Multiplatform Game Cancelled for PS3 Due to Dev Costs *UPDATE* By: César A. Berardini - "Cesar" Jun. 29th, 2006 8:03 am PS3Land reported yesterday that Greek developer track7games has dediced to cancel the PlayStation 3 version of Theseis due to the high development costs associated with Sony’s platform. Track7 Games has contacted PS3Land to inform us that Theseis for PlayStation 3 has been cancelled. The developer blames the problem on the exceptionally high cost of developing for PS3. For now, the game will only be released on Xbox 360 and PC. "If Sony were to offer us assistance in producing a PS3 version we would be more than happy to oblige!" said Vicky Valanos, Managing Director.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) ^^^^^^^ Me and several friends are thinking the same lines. don't forget you can trade in your old system/games and use that towards a 360. That is what I did.
  9. Looking at stats on Yahoo...he has the best numbers of the AL 2nd basemen. I put my vote in. Go get 'em Gooch.

QUOTE(SmokeandMirrors @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 08:04 AM) I picked up my 360 at launch and have been very satisfied with it. I'll usually play it daily (if I have the free time). I do have to admit that my first one did go out on me, but again that was a launch system and my friend accidentally knocking it off my desk didn't help it. The second one so far has been very solid with zero problems. So, if you're planning to pick one up, this would probably be the best time for it. Most of the bugs and problems should be worked out by now. I've also got to agree with Buehrle>Wood here, NCAA Football isn't quite up to par with the graphics the system is capable of. That's not to say it will be a bad game, however. NCAA Basketball (when compared to NBA 2k6 or NBA Live 2006) looked absolutely horrible, but was still a decent game. There has also been a bit of a drought with game releases lately, but with you buying the system now you'll have a lot to play. Of course it all depends on your taste in games, but Project Gotham Racing 3 is pretty good, along with; Oblivion, Fight Night Round 3, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, Hitman: Blood Money, Table Tennis (as DBAHO said), Moto GP 2006, Dead or Alive 4, Call of Duty 2 and Kameo (yes, I know.. looks like a kiddy game, but you'll be surprised). You'll also find a lot of solid games on the Xbox Live Marketplace. I liked Kameo.

I got it a couple weeks ago. I'm loving it. The Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter game is awesome. I have played the single player and co-op, online with friends. Also, Call to Duty 2 is great fun as well. But people are right, not a lot of games out yet.
  12. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 02:34 AM) You can also try the ticket exchange on the whitesox website. I have seen some decent deals depending on who they play...minnesota shouldn't be that pricey. This is the best way to do it, in my opinion. You pay a little extra, but you'll get good seats. Once you buy the tickets, the Sox send you the tickets, via e-mail. Print them out and you are ready to go.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) I think those guys are friendly enough, the problem is that those sections are severely understaffed. They give a section with like 60 people in it, two waiters and one runner. I've been in those sections and not seen my server for innings at a time.
  14. I gave one of them $10, at the World Series, to sneak me into the bathroom. It was hilarious. You should have seen the bad looks I got. Who cares...I pissed fast and was back in my seat in time for the action.
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:19 PM) Here is the only issue: They cannot combine without other direct competition. The monopoly laws will not allow it. Directv and Echo tried this, even with other smaller competition it was shot down. Unless a third, and equally powerful Sat radio company emerges, we will continue to see the two services. I am all for something that can pick up both signals and both companies have extreme benefits. I love XM's MLB and big ten coverage, but Sirius has other great programs and Howard for "those" people. ( Tony) Unfortunately, we wont see this merger, or takeover any time soon. Oh, I agree, no merger. I wasn't citing the new radios as a clue to that. I think both companies know it won't be a bad thing to work together. I resent being called a 'those' people.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) Based on their stock prices and 2005 sales, XM is roughly twice the size of Sirius. That is where I got the info for that statement. The bottom line is this...I'm rooting for both to do well, it can only help the whole industry. I think in a few years, satellite radio will be hugely successful. I think the industry as a whole as done quite well, considering where it came from. The idea of paying for radio is still foreign to a lot of people, but once you try and product, it f***ing rocks. How nice to be able to listen to music with no commercials, that is uncensored. And to have talk that is not watched by the FCC. And to get a selection when you live in the middle of nowhere. Also, Rock, did you hear that XM and Sirius are working on units that can pull both signals? That is going to be nice. Go to the store, buy a radio, try both services, decide which you like better, if not both, and then choose your progamming.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) XM is twice the size that Sirius is, he may be interested, but XM could buy him before he buys XM. They are not twice the size. Neither one is in a position to buy anything...not yet at least. One thing to note...you and I are happy about this Rock. The stocks have really struggled lately...but at least today was a nice day. irius and XM Shares Goosed by Karmazin Monday June 26, 4:07 pm ET Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin Gives Satellite Radio Shares a Push With Buyout Comment NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. jumped Monday after Sirius's chief executive was quoted as saying he'd be interested in buying his larger competitor. Shares of Sirius rose 23 cents, or 6 percent, to close at $4.70 on the Nasdaq, with 85.5 million shares changing hands, more than twice the normal daily volume. XM shares climbed 91 cents, or 6.8 percent, to close at $14.37, on volume of 16.3 million shares, also more than twice normal daily trade. Both stocks have suffered in 2006. Even with Monday's gain, Sirius shares remain down nearly 30 percent since January; XM shares have given up more than 47 percent. Monday's gains came after Mel Karmazin, CEO of Sirius, gave the morning keynote address at a technology conference held at the Museum of Television and Radio in New York. He said he would be interested in Sirius buying XM at the right price, although he acknowledged regulatory issues "would be a question mark," Dow Jones Newswires reported. The company had no further comment. The government would look closely at any deal that seeks to combine the nation's two major satellite radio companies. Sirius said it had about 4.1 million subscribers at the end of the first quarter this year, compared with XM Radio's 6.5 million subscribers.

  19. QUOTE(jfbrens @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Having trouble finding the Hotel Coral Essex on the internet..... are you sure that is the name? Or is it in the suburbs of pittsburgh? that was the hotel in Revenge of the Nerds 2, and when the turned off some of the lights, it said 'Hot Oral Sex'...sorry, no one got the joke. I know...who watches Revenge of the Nerds 2? I don't know. Just remembered it. Good luck in Pittsburgh.
  20. QUOTE(jfbrens @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 09:02 AM) Long time sox fans heading to Pittsburgh to see the beloved Sox. Does anyone know what hotel the team will be staying at? Thanks for the help! Joe The Hotel Coral Essex

  22. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Billy west is awesome. His Jackie Martling is great. Glad to hear this show coming back, very entertaining.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) I'd have been pretty pissed if she sat in front of me. She was in a suite...they showed her before the game even started. So not only is she an attention whore, but she gets good tickets.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) The way Ozzie used the word *** was not in a homophobic way and will definitely not lead to any homophobic deaths. He basically called him a sissy. Put the whole thing in context. If your kids, at age 10, 11, or 12 do not know or have not heard those words by then, then they live very sheltered lives. I think we have all known and heard those words by then. If you don't want them to use those words then do something called "parenting" or "teaching". That should take care of it. It is more important to the children that you don't use those words if that is what you stand for. He will have to be more careful with what he says, because the media as a whole are a bunch of panzie ass ***gots. I'm with you southsideirish. Everything you said is how I feel.
