  1. If you go to the Sox official website, and click on option 6, they have several videos that summarize some of the Sox history...they have the start of the Sox and the American League with Comiskey, the '59 team, and the '83 team...check it out...option 6. Sox Site
  2. QUOTE(juddling @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) 4. The Drew Carey Show Booo...can't have a show with 'cleveland rocks' in there....Booo!
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) Yeah it sucks, I want to be at the World Series as badly as anyone else, but you have to recognize that this is prudent planning and smart insight. No matter whether you are at the park, or with friends, or at a bar, the world series will be f***ing aweseom....mostly because we're going to win. If I didn't have tix, I wouldn't be worried about it...I'd just hang with good white sox folks.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 08:14 AM) Some comments from Brooks.. ________________________________________ From: Brooks Boyer Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2005 8:08 AM To: Stephanie Subject: RE: Ticket Sale I know some of the decisions I make will not be popular with the fans. It is the tough part of the job. I realize we are decreasing the pool of WS tickets that will go on sale to the general public, but I would prefer to be good every year and have October baseball in our park be an annual occurance. To do that, we have to pay the players. The more tickets we can move for next year leveraging WS tickets gives us the ability to be flexible and aggressive when it comes to player acquisition in the off season. Building the season ticket base is the key to that. I know you understand this because of our past conversations. I look at this as a smart long term decision even though I will take some heat from fans in the short run. In the end, it gives us an opportunity to put a better product on the field. Of anyone, you know how much I appreciate the core fans at WSI and Soxtalk. I know many will not agree with the process and there will many diehards that are pissed off at about 12:30pm today, but I do believe it gives us the best opportunity to field a better team, which I believe we all want. Regardless, it is a great problem to have because it means we are in the WS. Brooks Amen...this is a great idea on their part.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) It's not only a great idea.. it's brilliant. Thinking beyond today... wouldn't it be nice to have the problem of getting playoff tickets EVERY October...? That aint going to happen if the Sox don't have the $$ to pay the players they need to make that happen. The key to that is filling the stadium. Season tickets for next year is guaranteed $. Money that goes straight to the pay Paul (or whomever else they go after to make a difference next year) fund. I realize I'm in a different place then most of this board in terms of tickets, and I feel bad for you diehards.. but in terms of the future.. I'm fine with whatever they can do to make this team a dynasty. Steff well said...this is a good time to maybe put together a group of people and get tix together, if you can't afford it. then you draft tix, and have a pre-set plan on how to handle playoff tix.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) Guaranteed SOX Series tickets -- with a catch Published October 17, 2005 The White Sox announced Monday that they would guarantee tickets to any of the four World Series games scheduled for U.S. Cellular Field -- if the buyer puts down a deposit for 2006 season tickets. Individual tickets for the Series go on sale at noon Tuesday. Here's the way press release phrased it: "Fans wishing to guarantee a seat for the 2005 World Series can make a deposit on 2006 White Sox season tickets and then purchase 2005 World Series tickets. A 50 percent deposit on the 2006 tickets is required. " For information, contact the White Sox sales department at 312-674-1000. The team said the offer ends at 11 a.m. tomorrow or while supplies last. That's a great offer...no doubt...good ideas for increasing the ticket holder base. I'd do it, but I don't need tix.
  7. QUOTE(Beetle @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Not a bad idea... I'd definitely be in the market for one of those. Looks good. I could always use a national league team to root for.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Scout seats going for $9500 on some sites.. :headshake And apparently my seats can be sold for just under $5K each... Hmmm.. that's just about a $5K profit after I pay for next years tickets... Its unreal...I'm not selling any of mine...I had 5 people for 4 tix for sunday's game...had to get somone to bow out...they did. I felt bad....but he's going to game 1, so all is well. Steff, I'll give you face, and you'll like it!
  9. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Well, I will freely admit to being scared at times. But I never left the team, never stopped watching (though I said I would...I just couldn't stop...), and never stopped wearing the clothes. I've watched them and supported them during the lowsy times, so why would I have stopped when they were still in first. But I still don't think the "doubters" were wrong in having their doubts. These guys made it REALLY scary in those last few weeks. Always had the faith...but knew that if they kept playing like they were, we'd be in trouble...well, they turned in up in the last week...and here we are. So glad I got playoff tix.
  10. Thanks for the congrats! I still haven't gotten around to getting my Marlins jersey with Bartman on the back....
  11. my grandma and grandpa...both lived long, but not long enough to see this happen. Go Sox!
  12. QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) nice sheets. that's what I was thinking...
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) The red building (Go Sox) is the CNA building. The other building (Sox Pride) is the Blue Cross Blue Shield building. They are two different buildings on different sides of Grant/Millenium Park. I love how the guy from Indiana is the one with the answer.
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) Was it you that posted that link to an online jukebox? If so, do you happen to have it handy, I've been looking all over but can't find the original post. http://id1g1t.com/index.htm enjoy
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Does someone have a link to a download for it? I got it from...gulp...whitesoxinteractive...but I don't post there.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) With all do respect to Go Go White Sox, nothing compares to Steam's Na Na Na Na Hey Hey Hey Goodbye. I have so many great memories of the late 70s and singing with Nancy. Didn't even mind occassionaly spilling a beer (never my own) while screaming the lyrics. I got that in my jukebox bar too.
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) So if Ashlee Simpson recorded "So Like Totally White Sox Awesome And Stuff" you'd be at the record store PRONTO???? Yes, totally.
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) I just don't like that style of music. It's all pork-pie hats and canes and striped suits to me. Have The Methadones or Rise Against or Alkaline Trio record Go-Go White Sox and we'll talk. You're talking to a guy who can listen to Marilyn Manson one minute and the Beatles the next....and this style is not in my repetoire either, but I love the Sox stuff....so its on my list. So get on the bandwagon. There is no room for individualism in this thread.
  19. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) At this time, I'd like to thank you all for the kind, heartwarming responses to my opinion of this song. And once again, MANY THANKS for making Soxtalk a place where we, as Sox fans, can discuss, debate, express our opinions and beliefs, and most importantly, AGREE TO DISAGREE on so many diverse and wide-ranging topics. It's this kind of warm friendly, FAMILY atmosphere that makes soxtalk.com my "go-to site" for all things White Sox AND BEYOND....... ....and in closing, I'd like to add...... :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger :finger We just don't want you to be a communist.
  20. If the Sox were smart, they would have opened up the bullpen bar...that would be cool. Plus the prices are so reasonable. Did that need to be in green?
  21. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) Jimbo's is two blocks directly across from the park. Somebody here posted the Mapquest map. It is, like they said, a dive. It's not a plasma-screen sports bar. I think they have two TVs. But it is Sox central. Redwood's is a few blocks away, but also not a sports bar. But like everybody said: any sports bar in Chicago is going to be showing the Sox right now, so take your pick. Even the Wrigleyville bars are showing the Sox games. So you can't go wrong. Yeah, go to Wrigleyville, Great Idea.
  22. QUOTE(valponick @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Trust me, the BDubs here will be littered with Cub fans out to root against the Sox, it's just how this area is. It's only about a 15 minute drive for me to the park, same distance as BDubs in Schererville (in Whiting right now). And I'm looking more for atmosphere, I have a plasma TV in my living room......it's the least of my issues, just want a White Sox winner tonight If you're looking for a dive to go to, Waterworks in Lyons Il....Right off Harlem and 55...I'll be there and you can play the Go Go Sox song all night if you want.
  23. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) Even with its magic powers, I just don't like the song. Booooo!
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) I have not been able to get that song out of my head for the past 2 weeks. I wake up and it's the 1st thought in my brain. I find myself whistling it at work. I'm obsessed with it.....and I LOVE it. Amen, me too...I've had this song in one of my jukeboxes for about 3 months now...a fan favorite and always a good way to annoy any Cub fans who come in the bar. And a great way to celebrate a win...or play for a rally. Love that song.
  25. Look at the guy...I would expect him to say something dumb.
