  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) I'm fine with it. As a matter of fact.. I hope we lose the lead, only to regain it back.. barely make it into the playoffs... then kick the s*** out of everyone sweeping all the way to the series. "White Sox make greatest comeback of the century" BTW.. I'm only half serious. I don't care how we win it all...but these signs of lifeless hitting are scary. if what you said happens, it would be exciting as hell. But I'll take winning the division by double-digits
  2. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) White Sox Baseball: Please stay home. We play better when no one is around. Good one... The Sock-less Sox
  3. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) And everyone's got a right to be negative after this swoon, but saying the team has "absolutely no chance of making the playoffs" is such a tremendous crock of s*** when we still have (as you point out) a decent lead in the division. Definately. We still should make the playoffs...but I am realizing that 'not making it' is becoming a possibility. I just hate when i look in the Sun Times and I see this team being compared with the '69 Cubs....yuck.
  4. I voted beef...but I want to comment on hotdogs. If its a chicago style dog, no ketchup. But, if you're at a ballgame and they only have ketchup and mustard on them, I put both. That way there is some more flavor. But a chicago style dog would never get ketchup.
  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) I have to believe, with each anemic offensive performance, that the cost of adding a bat is getting steeper and steeper and the chances are getting one worse and worse. I know if I was a GM and Kenny came a callin' looking for offense, I'd be asking for an extra this or that. I wouldn't doubt it...since we're more and more desperate.
  6. I have gone to so many games this year...and spent so much time and effort on this team, and now they are absolutely falling apart. I have decided that I'm not going to get too wrapped up in this s***. I still have tickets to 3 games...I will go to those and no more. But I am not going to stress over every pitch and every inning, because its causing me major stress. Its just a game, and I need to remember that. I feel really let down. I hope they turn this around, but I'm prepared for the worst. And we have a 7 game lead...unreal how I feel.
  7. The mouthy Twins fans are coming out of the woodwork at my work....need to f*** 'em up Sox. Booya.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) Last week, Penn attended Friday prayers at Tehran University where worshippers gave the well-known chant of "Death to America." I wonder if he lead the chants this time This guy is a piece of s***...f***ing stay there.
  9. QUOTE(bulokis @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:24 AM) When is charlotte's season going to be over? If their season is almost done, then have him up here. I think thats a good idea to have him up here, pitch in long relief and ease him up in the bigs. don't the minor league seasons end at the end of August? Either way, I'm down with this move, big time. f*** Adkins. Get teh kid up here.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) I'll try it, where exactly is Carm's? On Wolf Rd, south of Roosevelt and North of 22nd street. If you get off on Mannheim, via 290, you would take Mannheim South to Roosevelt, Roosevelt West to Wolf, Wolf South to Carm's....Its across the street from where a cemetery/golf course merge.
  11. Ah...not just me...Mplssoxfan knew it too...look at that, a guy in enemy territory knows what's up. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) Carm's in Westchester... Oh, man I miss it. QUOTE(tonyho7476) its Hillside...and its the best...especially with hot peppers and mozzarella....people who say portillo's are crazy. While both Buona beef and Portillo's are good, they do not compare to Carm's. I recommend everyone give them a try. If you work in Oakbrook, its only about 7-10 minutes away. Its on Wolf Rd, North of 22nd street and south of Roosevelt. I guarantee you won't be dissappointed. I've been going there since I was a kid.
  12. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 09:16 AM) earlier in the season I started a thread on italian beef... numerous responses were posted... I actually used kid gleason's receipe.. it was awesome, especially for a sunday afternoon where the temp was 102... use the crock pot and don't heat the house... WELL... sunday afternoon I found myself around cermack and wolf roads... when a light bulb went on in my head... I passed the mediterreanen(sp?) deli and remembered someone talking about.... CARM'S BEEF... OH MY GOODNESS... the BEST italian beef sandwich I have ever eaten... I got it to go and the sandwich was GONE by the time I got to 294 at ogden and west of wolf... thank you whoever originally mentioned Carms.. I am now complete I believe that was me...I am the biggest supporter of Carm's...even if they are Cub fans! Glad you enjoyed it...I think I'll go there today for lunch!
  13. Hawk is on Mike North right now...sticking to his guns...doesn't see Griffey fitting into this lineup...even after this past week and a half.
  14. I think he jinxed them by marking his calendar with all the playoff dates!
  15. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Contreras has posted an ERA around two his last five starts. I know we picked up Duque for the playoffs, but Contreras' performance of late is hard to ignore. I'm not saying that Contreras should or shouldn't be in the rotation, but I am just trying to see what you guys think. I rank him as our 4th best starter...so if they use 4 starters, I am down. I just can't see El Pukee in the playoffs, period. Don't like him a bit.
  16. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) I didn't yet, but I will in a bit. For some reason I have work to do at work today.. work? I look forward to reading it
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) He was on the field during BP on Friday and had nothing but nice things to say about the Sox. Nice to hear someone of his talent thinking we can make it out of round 1. Steff, did you post anywhere about the BP experience...mine got cancelled, but is rescheduled for Sept 6th. Any info on it would be cool.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) Reports found a bottle of creatine in his locker and McGuire admitted to using Andro. He never used Andro....that was a front....guys taking roids aren't going to do Andro. That was completely staged. And McGwire did get busted...by congress...'I am only here to talk about the positives of this issue'....pussy

    Celebrity Crush

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Yes Kristin Kruek, Sarah Michele Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt are all very embarrasing. :rolly Though I don't find Kruek attractive, mainly because she looks like an alien, most people do see her as being hot. Hot: Hot: Alien: that's a bad picture...ya bastard...don't knock my beauty.
  21. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Jim golfed with Fergie Jenks on Monday and steriods was a big topic all day. This guy and their conversations have some similarities. Steff, I need to hang out with you and your husband...you guys rub some good elbows.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) All that batting practice does is allow our hitters to work on their popup stance, or the slam the bat or helmet into the ground pout, or the big swing and K with men on. Maybe its time for KW and Ozzie to have a team meeting. Call out this terrible offense. Good point, maybe they should stop taking batting practice.
  23. Why is this bad news? If you haven't noticed, the last thing we need is less batting practice. Also, my Sox BP on the field was cancelled. But the good news, I still get my 10th row tickets and free premium parking....AND I will still get to do BP and tickets, since I did already pay for that. I realize nobody cares.
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) When nintendo came out, they forced all of the other consoles to lower their prices to compete. It may have been inferior(and i love my Gamecube), but it sold like crazy when it came out a full 100 dollars cheaper buyers noticed. It all comes down to what the manufacturers want to do: 1. Start high, and lower the prices as the market dictates 2. Start low, force the markets to adjust to you(assuming your product can compete) and take away business from the competitors through cheaper pricing. Nintendo went the with #2 when Gamecube came out, and while they havent enjoyed the fanfare of PS2, and the awesome success of Halo + Halo2, they competed the whole time, and hardly showed any signs of slowing down. Pretty good considering many critics said Gamecube was the downfall of Nintendo. im really interested in the upcoming console wars though, this is a extremely different animal than what we are used to. this is going to be 3 top of the line consoles going head to head at the same time. PS1, Dreamcast, Xbox, N64, Gamecube, PS2, they all came out at different times. Its gonna be pretty cool to see the different approaches to marketing. I actually got the Gamecube the night it came out, since it was teh cheapest...but after a few months of having it, but without any games to play...I sold it and got an X. I have owned and played all consoles and have only kept my XBOX. I was called a fanboy earlier in this thread and I did turn into one. It all comes down to how good the games are. I am looking forward to the new consoles and I hope they all are good and all have something to offer. Than I'll buy them all and get even fatter.
  25. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) Yes. That 299$ is pure s***. No reason to buy it. Looks like Microsoft will be the only company still using cords. The 399$ is way to expensive for a gaming system. It's bad enough they make you pay to play games online. Also, for whatever reason, the idiots over at Mircrooft decided to skip out on Wi-Fi. I am dissapointed in Microsoft. They had everything going to take the market share lead for next-gen(God knows it won't be Sony and their 1000$ PS3). Now they go ahead and screwed this up. I was interested in buying one, but I'm skipping out. Right now I'm going to stick with the Revolution. It should be about 200-250$. Free, dedicated online play. 100% Wireless. Wi-Fi enabled. And the best thing ever on a video game system: every Nintendo game ever is comes available with the Revolution(Yes, all NES games, SNES games, N64 games. and GameCube games). I don't think $399 is too much. But I'm rich. I don't see the 'every nintendo' game as being that great. There is a reason new consoles come out...the old ones get stale. Let me give you an example. I recently bought a Sega Master System. I was all excited to buy some of the games I used to have..and blah, blah, blah...needless to say, its sitting there collecting dust.
