  1. This rant was classic....I was laughing my ass off...and it was total BS.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) 159 does have a row 2.. and a row 1. That is the section just to the left of the BP. 158, 157, and 156 do not start with a row 1. Know it all!
  3. There is no row 2 in 159. Do you mean row 9? I almost went yesterday, glad I didn't. But I'm going tonight, and its supposed to be more of the same. Yeah! And by coicidence, I'll be in row 9...section 158. Not even kidding.
  4. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) i'm just a drunk... alcoholic's go to meetings... Ahh, good point...I guess I'm a drunk.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) It is amazing what beer costs. I can never understand the people that complain about ticket prices, but always have about 10 beers at the park. I never complain about prices period...I drink as many $5.50 beers as I can...no matter whether they are winning or losing...I may be an alcoholic!
  6. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:12 AM) If we don't make the trade, we still have a chance at something here. Giving up 3 pitchers (although one is designated and one is somewhat estranged), just doesn't seem like a good business decision (think the Ritchie trade). Bad comparison...Kenny was hoping that Ritchie would be different with some run support...he took a gamble and it sucked. Schmidt is a proven pitcher, Ritchie was not. Like another poster said, Wells and Fogg suck.
  7. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) I could live with that as long as the high prospect isn't McCarthy. f*** McCarthy...we have a chance at something here, we need to go for it.
  8. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) Im sure Iguchi would be upset especially since he came to Chicago to play with Shingo. How do you figure? I heard that the two didn't know each other, prior to him coming here. From what I've seen, the two seem to pal up with their interpreters.
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) If we are considering trading Shingo for Hawkins, then the real question is ... who do you prefer on the 25 man roster, Hawkins or Jenks? Hawkins....that was easy
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Plus AJ reuniting with Hawkins could be a good thing. If anyone remembers what Hawkins did as a good relief pitcher its AJ. No doubt...AJ could be the key...plus we wouldn't be giving up much. Shingo is done on this team, its that simple.
  11. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:58 AM) It scares me that Oakland is 2 1/2 out of the WC, although my gut says they are not talented enough to make it. I agree, if we have to go there...uh, oh. It would be the ultimate 'curse buster' (don't slam me, I know its a cub term)...we'd have to go there and exercise the demons...or go home early.
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:51 AM) No. He was referring to Thome's Sox-killer status. Yeah, he was awesome at the Cell against us...I was so glad when he got out of Cleveland.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) Figured I'd give this it's own thread. Who knows. Perhaps something he says will merit its own discussion. He'll also be taking phone calls if any of you are bored. Those tickets are mine!
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) FINALLY. I don't think it's too soon to talk about playoffs. So let's quit spooging about beating up on the central and take on the biger fish. August will tell us a lot, unfortunately it comes after the trade deadline. Ana. and Balt. worry me. I'm kinda rooting for the Twins in the WC, if it keeps the Yankees out. We have 7 games against the Twins in late oct. maybe we can (wink wink) rest our starters for some of those games. I think I want Baltmore or NY to get the wildcard, so we play them...I don't want to play a west coast team in the first round...l like our chances better against NY
  15. Boston (0-0) New York (0-0) Baltimore (2-2) Anaheim (4-3) Texas (2-3) Oakland (2-7) Baltimore, Texas and Oakland were at their hottest when we faced them...if we played Baltimore now, we would win 3 out of 4, if not sweep.
  16. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Amen. These hack reporters are just digging for stories any way they can. I can't tolerate this conjecture being reported as fact because that is how these epic rumors get started. "Thome said he'd like to play for the White Sox" ...gimme a f'ing break. Regardless to what was said...Thome would love to hit at the Cell...at least he has so far in his career.
  17. I've had enough of Duque...if they can trade him to NY....go ahead. He has single handedly ruined 2 sox games I went to...and watching him pitch is like watching paint dry....he goes from 0-2 to 3-2 more than anyone I've ever seen.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) That was an unnessecary slide if I've ever seen one. He's doing his magglio impression
  19. Is Crede trying out for the Blues Brothers? With those new chops, and those sunglasses, he looks like the next Blues Brother...
  20. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) On ESPN News today Jason Stark said FLorida will be more than willing to trade AJ Burnett to the White Sox for Contreras and Marte. Otherwise, he may go to the Mets!! I think this is too much...stud reliever, good pitcher for questionable pitcher because of injuries.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) Why do you think I named it soxtalk.com Just wait...pretty soon you'll see a BoSox banner on the type and a slight adjustment to the domain name. www.sawktalk.com I can't talk or type with that horrible accent, so I would probably have to leave the board.
  22. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) On the pitching front, I still like Schmidt, but I would rather ship El Duque and a prospect than Contreras if the Giants would make that deal. Would I give them BMac? No, but I'd give them just about any other pitcher in the minors (except Jenks). So you're pretty much willing to give up nothing...how would you expect to get Schmidt? That being said, I don't want to move Contreras either. I only want to make a trade for a starter, if that person replaces El Pukee in the starting 5.
  23. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Really.. so Yankee and Boston fans are coming in droves to watch us play Detroit and KC.. :headshake I was at a detroit game this year, and I saw so many Boston hats...it was annoying. Now everyone is a Boston fan...give me a break.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) Its not near as bad as a lot of contracts. Its basically the risk of giving up that extra year. Financially speaking its very fair, especially when you look at the type of money Christian Guzman and some other shortstops have gotten recently (Jimmy Rollins and Cabrera being others). Still I think Omar makes so much sense. The question is will the Giants deal him cause I've read how they want to hold onto him for next year. Yeah, I see the Giants holding onto him...although the right price will change their mind...but that might not be what we want...
