  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:22 AM) Holy s*** did Marte look good last night. No one had a chance last night in the batters box. Everything had tons of movement, and he had plenty of velocity. Let's hope it lasts. It was good to see...along with Contreras' performance, it made me not worry about any trades...
  2. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Crede can be replaced. As good as his defense is, we have capable stopgaps. The solution is this simple. Uribe to 3B, Ozuna at SS. Done and done. Ozuna cannot be any worse offensively than Crede, and Ozuna has speed. I'm nearly tired of Crede. As a matter of fact, call me negative, but Crede Schmede. I've had my anti-Crede moments...until this past weekend when Ozuna botched the ball out there and I realized how important Crede's Defense is...
  3. This was on the White Sox website....makes me nervous...If he goes down, we be f***ed... 07/14/2005 9:45 PM ET Crede will try to play through pain Third baseman has two herniated discs in his back By Scott Merkin / MLB.com CLEVELAND -- Joe Crede's threshold for pain could dictate how much he contributes during the second half of what the White Sox hope will be a championship season. The White Sox third baseman was diagnosed with two herniated discs in his lower back this past weekend in Chicago. Crede did not start three of the last four games because of that back pain, although he was back in the lineup to begin the second half on Thursday night at Jacobs Field. Crede received a cortisone shot for the ailment on Sunday, and he is using anti-inflammatory medication to reduce the pain. But getting the three days off with the All-Star break appears to be just what the doctor ordered for Crede, who said that he felt 100 percent after taking batting practice on Thursday afternoon. "They are confident they can keep the pain down to a minimum," Crede said. "The bottom line is whether I can deal with the pain throughout the year. "It will be a dull ache the rest of the year. Today, it feels really good." With the uncertainty surrounding Crede, it appears as if Ross Gload comes up short in the temporary battle for the final roster spot. When his Minor League rehab assignment ends at the start of next week, the left-handed hitting first baseman/outfielder most likely will be reassigned to Triple-A Charlotte. Prior to the six-game homestand leading up to the All-Star break, Gload looked as if he would take Timo Perez's slot. But Jermaine Dye proved to be a capable defensive replacement at first base for Paul Konerko, on a short-term basis, and Perez exhibited his value with three hits on Friday against the A's and the game-tying double in the ninth inning of Sunday's extra-inning loss. Ozzie Guillen also likes Perez's presence amongst the younger Latin players in the White Sox clubhouse. Willie Harris would have been next in line for reassignment, but the team can't take a chance to go with Pablo Ozuna as the lone utility infielder because of Crede's precarious back. "I need the extra infielder right now, especially because we don't know exactly where Crede is," Guillen said. "Joe can be sore; [he] can be tight. "When you have back problems, you can get tight from one inning to another," Guillen added. Crede pointed to the last game of a three-game series in Oakland, on July 3, as the point when his back problem started to become noticeable. The back was painful enough during the Fourth of July game against Tampa Bay that he was forced to sit out the final two games of the series. X-rays didn't originally show the herniated discs, but an ensuing MRI turned up the damage. Athletic trainer Herm Schneider informed Crede that players have lasted 10 to 15 years in the game, even with disc problems. There was little worry about that situation on Thursday, with Crede ready for action. But the White Sox need Crede's glove at third and his production from the bottom of the order. Unfortunately, they can't give him three days off to recover, as the All-Star break afforded. "It's not something rare or that they haven't seen before," Crede said. "I think he's ready to play," added Guillen, who battled back pain during his career. "Hopefully -- we'll keep an eye on it. Hopefully he'll stay up on the treatment. You have to learn how to deal with the pain. When the pain is where you can't tolerate it anymore, you just can't." Scott Merkin is a reporter for MLB.com. 4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) There are still several guys on this team who's career numbers are much better than their numbers this year and who (let's hope) will rectify those problems in the 2nd half. Konerko, Uribe, Pierzynski. I agree, I thought we had all the offense we would need...but these three and Rowand need to step it up.
  5. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) Pitching and defense win in the playoffs. Well of course, but we also need to hit the ball...I would just like to see another on-base guy on this team...like Omar...but we know that's not going to happen
  6. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) I LOVE KONG......hahaa screw you guys i'm going home I really like him too, but his bad average and lack of production with RISP is getting old...and he'll be over paid...
  7. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) Jon is staying and so is Paulie That's it, I'm starting the no-Paulie Club... Our slogan....'Down with the guy who runs like he has s*** in his diaper' That's kind of a long slogan...any suggestions?
  8. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) I may be one of the few here, but I say deal McCarthy and don't look back. If he turns into a decent starter, good for him, but this Burnett deal can be one for now and for the future. McCArthy is not helping his value right now
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) That should be Kenny's #1 goal if they are even talking to him yet. One of those deals where we get a chance to talk to AJ about a contract situation...befoere the trade goes through
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) Hehe...you have to learn the hard way Back to the topic at hand Burnett to the sox, make it happen Kenny Burnett is the man I want...no doubt...'Get 'Er Done'
  11. QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:54 AM) "In the grand scheme of things," any pitcher who wins 14 games DEFINITELY is not a piece of trash! Baldwin might be a piece of trash for his career, but he was far away from being that that year. I hated that guy...I stand by my statement...so he had 1 good half...yaaaa
  12. Gotta get off to a good start today...the Count needs to throw strikes...don't forget about your fastball ya assclown!
  13. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) Head Like a Hole - NIN (early 90's) Anything by Korn. (late 90's) Great tunes...but I would have to say that 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' is the one, not cause I like Nirvana, I don't, but because it changed music in the 90s...
  14. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) Baldwin had an outstanding 1st half in 2000. I think he had 10 or 11 wins by the ASB. I know...but in the grand scheme of things, he sucked...he finished that year 14-7...piece of trash
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) 1993 All-Star game winning pitcher was Jack McDowell 2000 All-Star game winning pitcher was James Baldwin 2005 All-Star game winning pitcher was Mark Buehrle So, we'll make the playoffs and lose? I'm disturbed recalling that Baldwin was an All-Star
  16. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Changes- Tupac Shakur Did he make that song while he was alive or dead? Its hard to keep track of all his after-life recordings.
  17. Padilla This is what I most agree with in this article... 'The Sox still have room to improve offensively. If they want to play long into the postseason, that improvement is a necessity.'
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Jim and I took a client to Scores.. had to drag Jim there. I thought it was gonna be this old fart buying lap dance after lap dance getting wasted off his arse... and I was right. The chicks were laughing their asses off. They would come over one by one and he'd pay them. Half of them didn't even dance. I found it hysterical, Jim said he felt dirty. Those gals.. at least they are not screwing the guys.. trying to make an.. ehem.. "honest living".. but those ones that come to your houses.. oye ve.. ick, ick, ick.. YOu've got a point...the strip club girls are nicer than the 'house' girls...but I will say I have never been at a party where 'hookers' were there...and its certainly not my thing... When are you taking me to Scores?
  19. So I take it no one plays over X-Box Live?
  20. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Jim's the same way. He went to one and the pictures and stories (which I'm sure I didn't get all of) were pretty nasty. How on earth could you guys touch those females (a stretch of a description to might I add)... They go from guy to guy doing any and everything sometimes.. ewwuuu... it's like you all are effin yourselves. :puke Who knew, we're gay! Actually, I think the whole stripper thing is about age. When i was in my early 20's I loved it...now, its not as big a deal.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) 1 Inning of 1 exhibition game means absolutely nothing in the long run. Exhibition? I thought 'This time it counts'? Its no longer an exhibition...
  22. Its too bad that 'live entertainment' is nixed...because Peoria is a great place to go...plenty of bars, Big Al's, casino boat, and cheap golfing is also available. But since no live entertainment, Steff is on to something...if guys like to play poker, rent out a bar and have a Texas Hold 'Em Tourney...
  23. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Not angry... He is not looking for an answer to his question, he wants us to agree with him and be negative about the team. Some of us here are happy with a first place, best record in MLB team at the break. We'll worry about the playoffs when they come. Lets kill him! Or at least maim him! by the way, what does red mean?
