QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Well, I didn't mean to insult DePaul, but they had a crappy year last year with some very big losses to horrible teams, with a new coach and they've been able to steal guys left and right. Agreed. Some of the losses were bad, but we also had one of the toughest schedules in the country, and we lost to some quality teams that may not be very hyped (Bradley and Bucknell). There were also some very good wins last season that give hope for this season. Can't wait for this season. I like Coach Wainwright's scheduling as he doesn't fill up on cupcakes...

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) These are guys that Weber is losing to teams like Depaul. DePaul is in the better conference, better city, with it's own rich history...I'm very excited about the direction my team seems to be heading with the positive (though quiet) buzz we've been getting as sleepers this year, and a very nice '07 recruiting class that can possibly get A LOT better with a certain recruit... Been hearing nothing but good things about Coach Wainwright on the recruiting trails which has quickly payed dividends with the guys he's recently gotten... And weber's recruiting deficiencies will hopefully aid Wainwright in continuing to recruit the Chicago area well. I would not have minded gordon going to illinois if it meant that it helped DePaul gain an edge in getting rose. Yes, I'm still holding out hope for rose (fingers crossed). It's been said that DePaul has a better chance than expected. Personally, I feel that we're second behind memphis...

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) He has to be more accurate and have a better base of supporting facts than to come out and write in a Chicago paper, the Bears will win the super bowl. He has been oftentimes been wrong and frequently writes baseless opinions without facts to back it up. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) Huge for Indiana. This really hurts Weber and the program. To the Gordon family, you handled this terribly and you are a bunch of liars with no character. I was going to be pissed if he decommitted but I would have understood. But you don't continuously tell the coaching staff at UI you are committed. You don't consistently tell the other recruits going there you are committed. You don't tell the fans you don't feel any differently about Illinois. That is bulls***. And don't tell me that he is a 17 year old kid. They know exactly what they are doing. Since you believe he was not really torn and was just leading illinois along, why did he do it? I'm curious about the anti-illini consipiracy...

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 10:42 AM) Dear IU, Enjoy Eric Gordon for the year he'll be there. Jerks. Love, CanOfCorn

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) There was a time he was thinking about Indiana, your correct. That time ended a couple of months ago now though, and it wasn't as serious as many thought. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) There is a better chance of Rose to Illinois than Gordon to Indiana.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) I'll call Jeter and ask... Yeah, thanx...

Didn't they stop being close friends when jeter was offended by comments a-rod made basically saying that jeter wasn't the power hitter and captain a-rod is capable of being?

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) None of it makes any sense. Timo Perez had 64 AB in the leadoff spot where he posted a .518 OPS + 0 SB. During another point in the season Timo picked up 2 GP at 1B and 9 AB in the 3 hole. Such things should never happen. If anyone ever wonders at all why Timo was such a whipping boy of the fans, just go ahead and take a gander at these little tidbits. Championship teams don't put a player as horrible as Timo Perez in situations like that which makes 2005 all the more confusing. You can't calculate intangibles... -
