  1. QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Half of what season? This one...the one where we had the 2nd-best record at the break despite our pitching...
  2. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Buehrle nothing more than a Batting Practice pitcher right now-he should be DL'd-something HAS to be wrong Shoulda pitched in the wbc so we could at least have an excuse.
  3. spiff...so I take it I can't say "fish YOU BUERHLE!" on here anymore?
  4. Here's what my buddy who's a royals fan told me about macdougal: "he hit 98 on the gun saturday night, and his slider hit 89. he struck out two of the three batters he faced. when he is on and healthy, he is very very good."
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) I'd flip Cotts with Thornton. Me too.
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:51 PM) It'd be equally stupid to say, "Well, there weren't many anti-immigration marches -- at least not compared to the pro ones -- so that must mean that nobody wants to have 'stricter' laws!" I believe the anti-immigration march here in Chicago a few months ago had 18 people.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) All of the sudden no one cares. 10,000 people cared enough to go to another rally even after the issue has lost its luster. And you're still making threads about it so you care too!
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 07:32 AM) I guess since the Repubs dropped the issue, it isn't an issue for the people here illegally anymore? i don't get it. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...ocalchicago-hed Isn't 10,000 people a lot of people for a rally? I don't get it. Considering the overkill of rallies and the lack of publicity this one got, I'd say that's a pretty good number.
  9. I'm torn since I really like the lines/grid patterns that seperate in the other skin.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) Larry the Cable Guy's real name is Dan Whitney. He attended a private school in Nebraska until the age of 16. This video is of Dan Whitney, long before he realized that he would never get anywhere with his "Grandma dragging her wet ass on the carpet" routine, and long before he changed his name, look, accent, attitude and material to pander to southern audiences that didn't realize he was just insulting them. Git R' Done! I really don't like their comedy much, but I'll respect their ability to find a niche and basically milk it for all it's worth...Anyways, that mullet and white sneakers with slacks is pretty hillbilly if you ask me, and I wouldn't consider any part of nebraska an urban mecca...
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) And I get a big kick out of people calling themselves pessimists and walking around with it like it's a badge of honor. Nice. But that's certainly your right, I won't debate that. Just as it's other people's right to speak up about it. Oh well. I like realistic pessimists...just not the overly-negative pessimists spewing their hopeless doom-and-gloom bullspiff over and over and over again...
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) The post was about a lot more than him stating he's leaving. I love Soxtalk. This site has been a big part of my life (I hate to admit that) over the last 4 years. But it hasn't been very enjoyable of late. The constant gloom and doom posts by various posters is really starting to get old. Why is it so hard for some people to keep a damn perspective? No team's season ends because of a 2-7 stretch in July. What's even more frustrating is that we saw this same movie last year. No matter what's happened the last couple weeks, this is nothing compared to what almost happened last year. Are there legitimate concerns? Most definitely. I had some concerns even before the Boston series. This is a message board. And one of the great things about message boards is it allows you to share your opinions, express yourself, ect. I don't have a problem with that. But to deem the season over after every slump? Just stop watching the damn team if you're that damn emotional. I agree completely.
  13. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) yea, thats where i got it. i dont know if its true though It's bulls***. Don't worry, Steve from Blue's Clues is alive and well too. On a side note, this loss pissed me off more than any others so far this year.
  14. s***ting yourself at the hint of a pressure situation doesn't bode well for the playoffs...
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Didn't you just say you weren't watching the game? Your opinion is meaningless. Even if he was watching...
  16. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) One of the worst pitches in a key situation of the whole 2006 season, if not the worst. Sadly, yes.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) Well I will say that AJ has to stop calling that damn curveball. If Widger was behind the plate tonight there would be about a million threads about how bad he is. That being said, Vaz can't execute a pitch in a big situation..just ask the yankees. I don't see how AJ deserves any blame at all...
  18. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Just so I can throw up more, how much are we paying Vazquez for his services? However much you pay for tickets and merchandise...the Sox and whoever else are picking up the rest...
  19. QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:02 PM) I miss Chris Young I miss el duque
  20. Are there ruby tuesdays in Chicago? Those commercials come out a lot. I haven't seen a hardees either but I'm guessing they might be somewhere in the suburbs? I've never had a whataburger either...
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:22 AM) FSU does not have the greatest track record. It goes hand in hand with ideas like Kansas will lose in the first round of a tourney. Its a sarcastic remark,no offense meant. No school pays nearly as much as kansas so you gotta resort to stealing...
  22. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 10:12 AM) Tell that to Gilbert Arenas. Arenas, Redd, etc. hardly ever happen...and Pax had given up 2 2nd-rounders in other trades already anyways...
