QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 01:48 PM) First.. it's dago, not dego ya boneheads.. A dago t is a sleeveless undershirt. I don't know what a "white beater" is, but all my years on this planet all the wops in my family referred to a tank top as a "wife beater". Or an a-shirt...

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) I wasn't referring to importance. I was just correcting you. The term itself is insulting and I don't use it. But I am familiar with it. And I just showed you how I wasn't wrong, but thanks for trying to correct me...

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) No, "dego" shirt = tank top, or undershirt (usually white). Take it from someone who is half Italian. No, a-shirt = white-beater...I just don't like that term either so I go with how they're labeled by Hanes and Jockey, and tank top or undershirt seems too broad... Hanes Jockey I've got some Italian blood in me too but I don't think that would make anyone's word more important in this situation.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) Yes, yellow cards are renewed after the group stages. Once the round of 16 starts, everyone has 0. Angola put a good run on the Mexicans but came up short. Really exciting stuff. I'm still surprised that Mexico had far more support than portugal, a european team playing in europe... Mexico missing too many opportunities the past 2 games, but advancing is the primary objective in group play. Poor play by the Barcelona guy Rafa Marquez, horrible handball in the box, after a great game the previous one. Moving to the midfield should not have affected him like that. Kikin Fonseca had to put one in the net after so many missed chances.... Great games so far, but it only gets better after group play and I can't wait. -
I couldn't really understand what he was saying as he butchered the English language with his horrible south philly accent... How about advocating proper English and grammar?

So he called him a cigarette...big deal...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Hard to take Wade at 7 when he went 5th to Miami. He was never going to fall to 7 the only way to get him would have been to trade up into the Raptors spot at 4. I think he meant that the Bulls were definitely praying for him to fall because he would have been our guy and a couple of early mocks, I believe, did indeed have him going to us... But in hindsight, all drafts would be different and all teams would be much improved if they took a few of the guys they passed up on...I mean, the whole damn first round has passed up on guys like Arenas and sometimes undrafted players turn out much, much better than lottery picks...Kinda a crapshoot... -

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:16 PM) Walker is the BIGGEST COCKSUCKER in the game. You heard (read) me. Why is that? Personally, I'm way too lenient on Chicago guys so I don't absolutely hate any of them... -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) I just hate the way Walker and Williams play basketball, the fact that they are also douches is simply the icing on the s*** cake. I luved the williams highlights his 1st year...his move getting past payton, elbow pass at the All-Star game, behind-the-backs, etc...But yeah, he's been so much harder to bear since then, and he talks way too black for a white guy... -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Is it just me or has the NBA lost it's lore? I was thinking about and talking about this idea with someone else...First time in over 10 years that I missed whole Finals games and wasn't really into it...I still consider basketball my first sport but the further away we get from the Bulls' championships, and this year I've been having my sports fill with the Sox and the World Cup, the less interested I am in the NBA playoffs...Oh yeah, and I also hate how it feels like it takes 3 months to get through the playoffs; I coulda sworn the Bulls got knocked out over 2 months ago... -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) You left the game early? You dont deserve to be told about the beaning incidents. I drove by around the 4th inning after picking up my brother from his high school game about a block from there...bunches of cards fans already coming out and catching taxis... -
QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) Derogitory (sp?) term. I don't like it when non-Italians use it...but I don't get all worked up over it. Most people have no idea it's a racist term. dego t shirt = a-shirt Kinda derogatory, but I do remember it being the term in the neighborhood for them when I was much younger...

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) Podsednik's D last year wasn't great, but it was tolerable. This year he has been significiantly worse than last year. Just for an example, he already has 6 errors this year in LF, when all of last year he had 3. Exactly. It was passable last year and worse this year, but not equally as bad.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) The only thing that matters is that Ozzie is getting pissed. He's calling out Podsednik publicly for his s*** defense, so obviously he must be pretty subpar out there huh? No such comments last year so maybe it wasn't as s***ty last year as has been suggested...

Seems as if you're focused on the sports sections because I think you missed the full-page story about that cubs newspaper-parody thing and 2 of the 3 father's day pictures being from wrigley field in yesterday's sun-times...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) If Kevin Walker was up for the final spot like Pods was people would have been voting for him. My point is that he wasn't as bad last year as his current stretch...Again, I'm not calling him a Gold-Glover either, just that he was passable...
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) His goodness ratio out there last year was -1000. He wasn't that bad either...Around this time last year a whole bunch of us were furiously voting him into the All-Star game...

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Both of these are incredible understatments, also most leadoff hitters have the same effect on the overall lineup of thier team. How do his numbers stack up against the rest of the leadoff hitters? Now I'm curious.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Spain not looking as good as they did against Ukraine. Ukraine looked a lot better than they did against Spain. Interesting. The Ukraine is not weak. -
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 12:12 PM) It's hard to find a good pair of shoes these days. Everything is crap. Converse seems to have been the best brand of basketball shoes I've bought and Nike has been by far the worst. Kinda interesting fact...Nike owns Converse now. I still say you should attempt to exchange them if the squeaking is really bad.

I think we would also have to include an OF prospect like Sweeney... Get it done Kenny!

QUOTE(henry wiggins @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) No no, the common misconception is that Tracey was sent down because he didn't hit Blalock. The real reason he was banished is because Ozzie ruined him as a player when he reduced him to tears in the dugout. The very next night, poor traumatized Sean "allowed a two-run home run in relief to one-time White Sox Minor Leaguer Danny Sandoval during Triple-A Charlotte's 10-7 loss at Scranton Wilkes-Barre." (Sox website.) DCFS will be contacting Ozzie in the course of their investigation.
