  1. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Great Post. This is something I would loe to see sports take a stand on since they were sooo quick on the steroids issues. Many of us would lose our jobs with one DUI. Why not these "role models" also known as athletes? "I am not a role model." QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Close enough. "It can happen to anybody" if they have the brain of a hamster. I do not condone drunken driving in any way at all...but that quote sounds like it was taken from a spoken comment when asked about it, and with English being his second language (well, that and because of how much I enjoyed that great year he had here ), I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and give more importance to the rest of that quote in which he says that he is very sorry and would not want anyone else to make the same mistake.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) The Colbert Report has very much come into its own. When it first started, I found myself unable to watch beyond the Word. Now that the show has settled down somewhat, it's gotten a lot funnier. His ears kinda distract me sometimes...
  3. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) Hey.. shut the f*** up. Wow, what happened to the "no more personal attacks" policy?
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) I'm not talking about overall situations because right now those are completely different but Ozzie seems to have the right now to act as childish and outlandish as he wants because 1.) They won the World Series 2.) The team is winning 3.) People seem to love this sort of behavior for whatever reason. He and Manny get a free pass for thier own brand of immaturity because they get the job done. Manny being Manny, Ozzie being Ozzie. I'm just so much more accepting to the team-first attitude over a selfish one, which is why I like Ozzie and didn't agree with that comparison...And I've yet to see or hear anything from Ozzie that I absolutely hated, including the incident the other night which I saw more as tough luv...
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) They are probably only behind the Netherlands, Brazil, and Argentina in fan support, numbers wise. Looks and sounds like a home game in there, especially with all of the "Ole!"...fun stuff, I'm impressed... Too many missed goals though.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Finally, I've been waiting for someone, somewhere to use that line. He's now officially Manny Ramirez, as long as he hits .300 and pops 40 dongs a season he can climb into the Green Monster all he wants, afterall it's just Manny being Manny. One is a leader, wants to win, preaches team unity and togetherness, and luvs and wants to stay with his team...yep, good comparison...
  7. The crux of his column was that he was speculating that the team is getting tired of Ozzie...But as long as there are no legitimate signs of this and the team keeps winning cohesively, I say Ozzie can keep being Ozzie...
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Excuse you.. just where are the gangs going to meet now to make their drug exchanges? Where will the kids strong enough to scale the fences got to underage drink..? Where will the teen whores take their teen johns to make money to support their 4 infants...? Were there bullet holes in the upper deck seats too?
  9. So sad...especially for the wife and children...
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 10:54 PM) You sir, are a damn fool. I ask that you refrain from using me as the subject of your pathetic attempts at humor. I've never claimed to be humorous. Far from it...
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Explain that to the Brazilians who have been winning with the big names for years. As long as nobody is having convulsions.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) but take it from someone who is much much smarter than you are I didn't know it was sarcasm 'til I read this part. :uhoh
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) The reason he wanted Tracey to do it is because Guillen knew they'd made the Riske trade and Tracey was gonna be sent out after the game anyways. Montero is still on the team and why risk him getting suspended when Politte's shoulder is still iffy. This was not a favoritism situation. Ozzie explained it perfectly in what was shown comcast show after the game. I luv how he said that he doesn't give a s*** how outsiders interpreted it as long as the team is on the same page with him. I heart Ozzie.
  14. Exchange/return them from where you purchased them. I have heard other stories about squeaky shoes being usually exchanged or sometimes even returned with relatively few problems, especially if purchaed at a niketown. If you are considering to do so, I'd recommend giving the place you bought them from a call to see what their policy in that situation is.
  15. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) No, some of you were down his throat with the first replies. The replies in his threads were ugly right off the bat. No chance for people un-familiar with his stuff to decide for ourselves. Hell, your using his real name in your very first reply to him said all I needed to know. So true... But, personally, I'm torn since the silly drama is kinda entertaining on a slow day.
  16. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Sorry, I already provided many examples of how minorities and women are being given preferrential treatment. It's been "your turn" to provide a concrete example for about 2 hours now. Not sure if you want examples of racial discrimination in the workplace or what...You'd have to be living under a rock to not have heard of countless occurances such as Texaco, etc...
  17. Oh, s***, so now my posts seem feminine?? I'm gonna go get wasted after work and pick up a girl just to recover my manhood.
  18. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Your opinion might mean more if you backed it up with some evidence. Alright, I'll let you go first. Back up these two claims of yours about racial discrimination in job hiring and the workplace: QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) If it still does happen today, it doesn't happen very often. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) In fact, many companies have Affirmative Action-based "quotas" now, where it's OFFICIAL POLICY to discriminate against white males. If anything, the tide has been turned now against male Caucasians. I'd like to hear more about how "if" (so do you mean it might not even happen anymore?) it happens today, it's not very often. I'm also curious to hear more about the "tide turning" against male caucasians (so they are on the verge of facing even more discrimination in the workplace than minorities ever have?).
  19. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) I never used the word "oppressed." What were you saying about putting words in one's mouth? :rolly It was insinuated by your "the tide has turned" comment, unlike your saying that I hate white males (I guess I partly hate myself?). Apparently white males have it worse than minorities did before. Feel free to use your own terminology, but it did sound like you were whining that white males are now being opressed. I still think it's not as bad for white males as the racial discrimination minorities still encounter, and nowhere near as bad as you make it sound. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) Oh, I'm sorry. Did I hurt your feelings? Fixed
  20. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Since you won't respond my questions, I had to try to get an answer out of you somehow. And why is that? (Try to actually answer this time.) So you honestly think white males are an oppressed group nowadays?? Sounds like a huge overexaggeration, in my opinion. The privileges and perks far outweigh whatever minor hurdles come about, again, in my opinion. You're trying to equate the obstacles that minorities (race, gender, age, whatever) may face with those that come about for white males, and I just don't see that way. (Try to not resort to childish tactics like putting words in my mouth next time.) QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) Typical liberal: It's all fun and games to illogically stick it to "the system" because you, as a part of that same system, haven't been targeted yet. But when it DOES happen to you, you might not think it's so funny. lol... Some of you are so quick to label. I don't nor have I ever claimed any sort of political affiliation; just stating my opinions.
  21. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Oh, I get it. You just want free handouts at the expense of everyone else. Thanks for clarifying. Yep, you caught me. I want free handouts along with hating myself. Having words put in my mouth is definitely a pet peeve though...No need to resort to that no matter how upset you got... But the thought of white male oppression still seems funny to me.
  22. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) So, you hate white males? I'm not surprised. That one's way too ridiculous for me to take the bait.
  23. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) You're funny. There's LEGAL, INSTITUTIONAL discrimination against "over-represented" races/genders in job hiring now and you're still trying to play the minorities-aren't-getting-a-fair-shake card. :headshake white male oppression
