6/1/06 Game Thread: White Sox @ Indians
SleepyWhiteSox replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Although we can all agree that the bullpen looked to be a concern coming into the season, marte and viz would not have been the answer...I guess it was myers or bust...But there's still time to pull a trade to bolster the pen before the trade deadline... -

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) after reading the first page of this thread... I dont get why all the regulars have to team up and bash a guy making a point. I see this treatment more often than not. No one is going to have the same views all the time . I am tired of reading threads that have THE Regualrs vs The others. It's getting old and making my soxtalk experience less enjoyable. As long as the guy is not trolling, why have a 10-1 battle? If someone wants to talk about the media bias, so what? He has the facts and this is more than thread worthy for the fans who would like to talk about it. Usually a select few that our overly-aggressive and like to be confrontational because they think they know it all and aren't very open to differing, valid opinions...But that's what makes it entertaining. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) they were playing Everett while sitting Rowand, thus getting Everett's bat in the lineup. Situation sounds kinda familiar...now start hitting BA... -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) The CBO is a good government study. Maybe not exhaustive, but good and unbiased. Just ignore all the thinktanks and use the link Balta put up. Looked good to me. Will do.

I kinda feel dumb for not knowing most of those words... But yeah, there's a little bit of satisfaction knowing I could beat those kids up at that age.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) I think we can all agree that will never happen. So the government is gonna blindly make decisions on the subject or will they just not make public the studies done?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:43 AM) Mauer is currently batting .359 with a .914 OPS, I'm sorry but those 2 numbers alone force me to go with Mauer. A catcher is not suppoed to do what he's currently doing. Well, since there is no DH, you just have to think of it as a combined position so it's 1B/DH meaning Thome would get the knod over everyone but you can't bank on a write-in so the 2nd best play at the position, Hafner, takes the cake. It would be cool if Iguchi did start and it really wouldn't surprise me but Jose Lopez is having the superior season. Troy Gluas is batting 42 points lower, has 4 more HRs but also has 4 less runs along with very similar OPSs. A-Rods far superior defense takes the cake. Swisher is not on the ballot so Manny and his .435 OBP/1.014 OPS should be out there. If Swisher was on the ballot he would get the spot. Shame he's not on the ballot. I agree with both of you guys' points (well, most) but was merely providing alternative choices. I'd definitely take A-Rod over Glaus but wouldn't say Dye (who I luv) is having that much of a better season than Vlad, and name recognition would obviously be a big factor in that one. Swisher and Rios aren't gonna get voted in (even if they were on the ballot) but that's how I woulda voted at this point if they were on the ballot. (I think with write-ins Rios is barely top 20?) s***, that's a lot of parentheses...

QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) I stopped counting at three the number of employees of this non partisan group who previously worked for the AFSCME. (no Agenda there). How about the guy who was Economic Policy Director for Kerry Edwards Campaign?? OOPS!!!! Non-partisan, I forgot... Gimme a break!!!! Well you obviously looked into the site more in-depth than I did. Personally, I would luv to see maybe a goverment-issued study or from a group without an obvious agenda because everytime I look up info it usually seems swayed. Are they even working on anything as a part of the issue?

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) LMFAO!!!!!!!!!! You have GOT to be kidding. The CONGRESSIONAL Budget Office has no obvious agenda, none at all. Oops, perused the site a little more... Well then my point still stands that I really haven't seen anything from a source WITHOUT an agenda...

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 01:02 PM) Response from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, including estimates of how much the immigration reform act would cost based on CBO numbers and historical evidence. Close to zero cost instead of the ridiculous 30 billion per year...interesting...and not from a source with an obvious agenda...

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:49 AM) More in salary, less in unemployment, social security, welfare, health insurance... etc. Are there concrete studies from non-partial groups without agendas stating these claims? I still haven't found anything on my own and am curious to see what's out there to back up those claims.

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) When I was young I had a book about dumb and weird criminals. One story was about a guy who was stopped for speeding. He pleaded with the cop, saying he was a vampire and had to get home before the sun came up. We'll never know the truth, as the cop let him off The Count had a car. -

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) The offense better pick it up and score some runs. Jose should of won his last start, but due to the offense sleepwalking, he got a ND. He's gotten a few of those...

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ May 31, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) I understand the point you are making... but we just need to worry about ourselves right now. If we are in need of the Tigers and Indians to lose all the time over the summer... it's gonna be a long summer. Any little bright spot helps. We're looking kinda s***ty right now.

Lets take a stroll down memory lane...
SleepyWhiteSox replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He's been so solid on defense, but just like his supporters want to give him a few more months with the bat before they call him as brutal as he is, I wanna see him out there longer with the glove doing what he's been doing consistently before I call him amazing. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Funny, since that's exactly what minutemen leaders have been advocating. I saw that in a Time article about how lots of hate groups are latching onto this issue and exploiting it. Rousing the Zealots: Neo-Nazis, white supremacists and militiamen are revivified by the furor over illegal immigration
