  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Can I rant about the NIT? s***, I'm gonna have to take a look to see if my team can at least make that.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) the Final 4 (and i'm pretty good at picking that) Aren't we all?
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) Well I know most people could argue that, but Billups is up there in the MVP race right now and on the best team in the NBA right now. Brand is in the MVP race too...
  4. QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) theres like a million rappers who wear chisox stuff. it has nothing to do with the white sox though, its the look. remember lebron wore an entire chisox outfit once. kanye and twista actually are from the southside, so maybe they are fans. twista always sports his sox gear
  5. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 07:20 AM) Superstar's a top 5 NBA player for mine. I'd call Brand a star though, but would you call him one of the top 5 players in the NBA when he's got this competition? Kevin Garnett Steve Nash Lebron James Dirk Nowitski Chauncey Billups Dwayne Wade A case can certainly be made. And billups is not a superstar.
  6. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Then I have to pay for their illegal asses. And I don't like it. Again, it's not that I don't have compassion for some of these people, some of them are just trying to feed their families. And I also would welcome a work program. But for them to just cross illegally and funnel money back and then cry about not getting any rights under our constitution, is pure BS to me. If you suddenly have all of this so-called compassion, then wouldn't you be blaming the system more than the people?
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 12, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) And that has to change. Children of illegal immigrants should not be allowed US citizenship nor any benefits that come with it. Why not? Just let the sick children die??
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Brand was a damn good player, now he's probably a superstar. Probably???
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) Twist the argument to what I've done. Guess what? If I break the law, I have to pay the consequences, unlike these people who want RIGHTS that they DO NOT HAVE. Their consequences are to get sent back to where they came from and nothing else. So, don't cry to me about these people's rights, because they don't have any in this country. Not even basic human rights? Again, I don't think that a doctor who gives medical attention to an illegal person should have to be put in jail...Maybe I'm one of the few since everyone else seems to be greatly in favor of the law we're discussing.
  10. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Thats why there should be a guest worker program to allow them to do what it is they're doing but under the auspices of the law. Agreed completely. (And I was thinking that it would be a harsher view coming from you.) QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Additionally, the states spend billions of dollars on medical services, education and god knows what else. The positive economic impact that might have by paying a little bit in taxes is swamped by the costs they cause the states and federal government. Do the children that are born here deserve education and medical services? They're citizens, after all.
  11. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 06:53 PM) And it just amazes me people that condone illegal activities because they simply feel sorry for their plight. Look, COME HERE LEGALLY, and I'll help you all day. There's a lot of means of coming here LEGALLY. Otherwise, you're pretty much stealing. Bulls*** excuse...next you're gonna tell me you don't jay-walk and never drank under-age... It may be illegal, but the vast majority aren't here to harm, just work and better themselves. If their were reasonable legal means to get here, then that's how it would work. Bottom line: there isn't.
  12. QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 05:56 PM) I donate to Catholic Charities on a regular basis and have no problem with some of my income going to the less fortunate via taxes. However, people who come to this country ILLEGALY aren't entitled to a damn cent of my paycheck. If they want handouts, they need to play by our nation's rules. Why does it matter where a person in need comes from? And what handouts do you speak of?? How is coming here to work and make below minimum wage receiving handouts?? Now, granted, there is a tiny percentage that probably does abuse the system (compared to a larger percentage of citizens who abuse it much worse), but the vast majority just come here to work and not cause any harm to anyone, no different than any of us. They're just looking to better their lives. I'm definitely againt treating people like s*** and just kicking them out, taking away their livelihood, seperating families, etc... It just amazes me how people are so intent on professing how great and caring human beings they are because they care about all sorts of world issues and what-not and donate to charities, yet if the person in need happens to be here illegally, they're basically f***in' scum... :headshake
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) I made the same argument, but was shot down by the boss on here . Oh, I'm with you...even if other will question my die-hard Bulls fandom... Like I've said before, I'm not shedding any tears after any Bulls losses. The higher their pick, hopefully the more beneficial it will be for the Bulls' future. A ninth place finish does nothing for this team.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) Nice to see you and Uncle Jesse taking the easy way out and just playing the race card. Latent racism. Nice to see you play the human rights card, later bulls***ting that your concerns are for workers' safety, when you clearly stated in your previous posts that your main concern was all of that precious money being "stolen" away from your taxes. :rolly
  15. Dare I say he was the most fundamental player on the team? He seemed to make the least mistakes and definitely grew on me... They haven't looked like a playoff team all year long, and this kinda seals it for me.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 05:47 PM) Repeatedly? I said it once. "I really don't think you know what you are talking about. " And after I said this he said he knew what I was talking about and basically agreed that it goes on. I hardly find that an insult. You can't possibly be that ignorant about what's meant to be demeaning and what's meant to be a legitimate question... QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) Do you just read what you want to read? QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) I just wish you would read the whole thing before commenting. It is like talking to someone who isn't even paying attention to what you are saying, they are just thinking of the next question to ask you. All meant in the nicest possible way, right? You can just make your points in your posts without being a dick about it...
  17. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) Why was that hard to understand? Didn't say it was. People don't usually randomly say that they talked to ben gordon on aim...Maybe you can mention how you did so?
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) Are the insults really necessary? I agree. The discussion was going just fine when it stuck to talking about the topic at hand and not individual posters. I wasn't expecting the credibility of my opinions to be attacked by someone who clearly knows more about the subject than all of us...and isn't afraid to let us know.
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) If you are well aware of it then you wouldn't make such comments that "family can only do so much" or disagree with it. That is why I don't think you know what you are talking about. You haven't said you don't agree with something, you just ignore it and state somethign else. The things you have stated make it seem like you don't know what you are talking about. Didn't know you're the expert, maybe you've had extensive contact with illegal immigrants and their families...I'm just gonna go ahead and make my comments without worrying if you deem them correct or incorrect. And you can point out what I've ignored because it certainly hasn't been on purpose. I've commented on plenty so far in this thread. Some of my points have been ignored too, mainly where I've stated that I am against the law that is going to affect people who assist (not just hire) illegal immigrants, and that I'm all for the government implementing the right type of action, which they clearly haven't.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Mar 10, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) I am not bitter at all. I just wish you would read the whole thing before commenting. It is like talking to someone who isn't even paying attention to what you are saying, they are just thinking of the next question to ask you. I really don't think you know what you are talking about. Family helps out a great deal. Say an uncle owns a dry wall company or trucking company. That uncle will pay the relative the same as all the other employees, but the relative will get paid under the table. Hell he may even make him a supervisor or such. Not to mention this uncle may be helping to provide room and board for this relative. If he doesn't then another friend of his may. Or they may be living very cheaply by renting a room in order to save and send back any money he earns to Mexico. I know a lot about how this works. I have seen it done a lot. I have read the whole thing and have read every point that you've made. If I've disagreed, I've said it. When someone disagrees, it doesn't mean they're not listening. So tell me how it is that you don't think I know what I'm talking about, although it's funny when having a discussion with someone who clearly thinks they know more than you. I've yet to make those sorts of comments about anyone who has posted in this thread. I'm well aware of the goings-on that you speak of, along with what goes on in many factories in Chicago.
