  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) Not even a tiny bit of love for Duhon? He'd be a great player coming off the bench on a true contender. I'm just upset that the Bulls are so bad that he has to start. What I meant to say is that Kirk and Deng are the only real talent on the team, which is kinda sad...
  2. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Chauncey billups is the mvp of the league this year especially if nash won it last year. I do not think they are even in the same league if you compare the seasons. Billups is such a damn joy to watch. Hmmm...I'm still on the Brand bandwagon. It sure does help when you're surrounded by 4 fellow All-Star-caliber players... Here's a guy I like much more than Billups, in which I see some slight similarities, and one of my favorite 2nd-rounders ever: Arenas I doubt there has been any other draft in which the best player was taken in the 2nd round. I don't even wanna think how different things would have been if the Bulls had taken this guy instead of hassell one pick ahead. He probably would have been traded a year or two afterwards anyways...
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) Duhon, Deng, Sweets. I'll give you Deng. I've watched just about every Bulls game so far, so that's it.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Is Ben Gordon one of the worse/overhyped players in the league. I think so. Haven't really heard much noise about him this season other than his struggles, unless I'm missing something... Last year's 6th Man was definitely deserved. This year he's been garbage, along with every Bull other than pre-concussion Kirk.
  5. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) I don't know what Flip Saunders is doing over there in Detroit, but god damn, two players in the Top 5? Chauncey is flourishing like it's nobody's business. Misleading. arroyo plays about 13 minutes per. Billups is good, but I just don't like the pistons. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) I thought that Raymond Felton was supposed to get the bulk of the minutes for the Bobcats this year. Otherwise, I'd have drafted Brevin Knight in my fantasy league without hesitation. Supposedly they're bringing him along slowly and he has been starting with rush out... QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Boy, the Hawks could use Chris Paul right about now. Joe Johnson is sporting a 1.72 to 1.00 turnover ratio, which is pretty much crap. Chris Paul=ROY Joe Johnson showed the previous year he really wasn't meant to be a PG. Still a solid player. I equate that signing to the detroit tigers having to overpay for players since detroit isn't a premier MLB destination. Same with Atl. It's tough to even see what marvin can do with Harrington quietly having himself a very good year... QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Where's Stevie Franchise? I luv seeing a "little" guy dunk with such a sick vertical.
  6. QUOTE(Spiff @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) J-Rich went nuts for 36 points last night against the Celts. He just didn't miss; I never realized he had that good a jump shot. It was pretty amazing to watch, even Heinson was heaping praise on him. Unfortunately in meant Golden State pulled out the win. Also, Ike Diogu is a good player but he's too aggressive to stay on the floor. He pushes and elbows and gets called more often than not. And Adonal Foyle wasn't totally useless, he actually had some life. Yeah, I wasn't so sure at the time but richardson is the only one worthy of the contracts golden state has been handing out...
  7. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) I enjoyed Scoop's columns at SLAM but I think he has not been a good columnist outside of basketball. He's trying to be controversial more than provocative which is a common mistake amongst writers You're exactly right.
  8. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Two gay cowboys eating pudding. ewwwww...
  9. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) As long as Tyson gets 30 to 35 minutes per game, I'll be happy. None of this 15 to 20 minute crap out of the C slot. I thought that it was beyond amusing to have a 235 pound dude covering the 340 pound Shaq. What good can come from that matchup? Foul trouble, an injury, etc. Outside of the health issues (which will seem to cause him to not get those numbers that you want consistently), he still needs to bulk up... I hated Rodman, but I liked his game and luved seeing him on Shaq...
  10. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) Fine, but we win zero championships without Jerry Krause in the picture. I'll concede that he went senile in the end, but he's still a legendary GM. Put Chandler back at PF, and he won't be in foul trouble anywhere near as often. I can't defend him on the breathing issues or the lack of conditioning this past summer, but the tools are there. Maybe people don't want to hear about it anymore, but I'll back him to the death. The combination of height/wingspan/quckness/agility/work ethic/intensity/mean streak combined with his mental progression should make for some terrific, 1st team caliber defense in the very near future. He can't bang with these 265 pound centers, that is for damn sure. He's a PF through and through. Oh, I'm eternally grateful for those Jordan teams. Always will be. Greatest of all time, in my opinion. I was talking about post-Jordan Krause. And yeah, the health issues worry me. I wanna know how severe and lasting they are. I want tyson healthy. So do you want him back starting or do you like the reserve role? He looks better off the bench recently...Well, actually last year too...And he gets booed less by the home crowd.
  11. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) The Ben Gordon pick pisses me off to no end. The fact that we can't put Chandler back at PF is the clincher for me. Regardless of your hard-on for tyson, any sane person who pays attention to basketball knows that the moves done by the previous GM were infinitely worse than that...I put the Brand trade at the top of my list...If you think the Gordon pick pisses you off, I like that trade even less...Watching Brand, Artest, Brad Miller, Donyell and others become so great on other teams pisses of even more than that draft pick ever will...Hell, at least Gordon was serviceable in his role last year, helped the team make the playoffs, and did it well enough to win an award. And as far as tyson at PF, I hope you mean 2nd-string right now...
  12. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) If you can make a case for Paxson, feel free. I don't think that he has the brains to put together a contender, much less a team that can get out of the first round. Maybe I'm wrong. He's made his mistakes, and is far from great, but I'm not ready to put him in the moron category myself. He hasn't even been at it for that long and is still in the process of cleaning up somebody else's mess, although a certain contract he just gave isn't looking so good so far... He's done decent so far with the tools that he has. Yeah, he certainly can do better, but he didn't inherit much talent, and opportunities of getting a superstar talent are few and far in between. I mean, how low would you rank him league-wise? Not yet in the moron category in my opinion.
  13. One of the nice things about having kids is that they're always the smartest and most beautiful ever.
  14. QUOTE(The Human Borch @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) AJ Pierzynski's HR sparks 5 run first in ALDS Oh crap your name is awesome...made me literally lol...
  15. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) I am baffled as to how John Paxson can be in charge of putting together an NBA squad. He's clearly a moron.
  16. An espn analysis of any kind is rarely not horrible.
  17. By the way, the original plan sounds pretty good. I wouldn't mind seeing the Vanilla Gorilla here for the right price. This team is in dire need of a superstar go-to guy.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) Gordon is a scorer and has the tools of a good defensive player. For Morrison it's just not there. Gordon could do anything Morrison does and better if Skiles gave him the damn ball instead of Hinrich or Duhon while he's out on the court. Problem is Skiles has tried to change Gordon and it's not working. Gordon does best in the 4th(at least last year) in large part because that's when Skiles let's Gordon go loose. Morrison can try all he wants, but I rather take the guy with tools. I was all for Gordon starting over Duhon, and I still see Duhon as a glorified bench player...but I'm still going to have to disagree. Gordon is way too streaky to be a consistent scorer in this league, and his defense continues to hinder him. What tools are you seeing? Height isn't one of them. The lack of solid defense, careless turnovers, and streaky shooting outweigh when he is on for me. I do like him a lot when he is on, though.
  19. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) The draft isn't weak. Most people see it as weak...I'd still rather wait to form an opinion of it. I actually have not really heard it not called weak, and so far I tend to agree. So who are all of these proven, solid players you're aware of?...International players are always question marks and I'm not all that excited by a josh boone or shelden williams...What if Pax pulls a Hinrich and goes for someone similar to himself again in reddick? Like I said, still too early for me...
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) The Bulls get waxed for the second time in less than a week by the Cavs. Thank god we've got that Knicks pick. Well, I wouldn't be that excited just yet...as has been mentioned, this draft is considered weak, weaker than 2000...and we all know how that worked out after we ended up with two of the top four players...
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) :puke
  22. QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Simply put they aren't as good as last year. No Curry and no Davis is too much to overcome. Sweetney is solid, but he's not tall enough to play center in this league. Yep. This team couldn't afford to lose even a little bit of what they barely have...which is talent. This is the consequence of having absolutely no inside presence. I'm beyond disappointed by tyson at this point...all I could do was laugh at that horrendous airball that missed the basket by 3 feet, and he deserved the boos that he has been receiving.
