Tony Dungy's son dies in Florida

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) And how so? Speculating on the cause of death vs debating the parenting practices by Tony Dungy. Pretty weak. Uh, ok. Well, you got the exact reaction that you wanted considering how all of the previous posts were offering condolences. -

Anybody else having problems with their digital cable? I refuse to believe it's being blocked.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) How the hell is Joel Pyrzbilla going to do anything for the Bulls. The guys going to get a huge ass contract and doesn't deserve it as far as I'm concerned. Worth it on the "Vanilla Gorilla" nickname alone... He's probably gonna be another Dalembert, most likely more, in terms of contract. We desperately need inside presence. He's obviously much stronger than anything we have at C right now and he actually blocks shots...along with the altering.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:35 AM) I wish Sweetney was 7'1" and Chandler was 6'8". I think sweetney could benefit from losing some weight. I don't like him seeing him in his "step slow/sluggish" mode.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Tyson is uncommonly quick for his size. If there is a 7'1 or taller player in this league who is quicker than Tyson, well, I can't think of him right now. KG comes to mind, at about an inch shorter if you're gonna get picky. Similar builds, but I'll obviously take KG as the stronger and much quicker player...not to mention him being better at every aspect of the game.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) Like i said fifty times already... we will get our center at the end of this year. It would be a complete waste to trade for any of those except pryzbilla who the bulls will be going after hard. Pryzbilla also had a minor injury i believe and he is expected to make to start the next game. I thought he had the flu?

Agent: Artest wants to remain a Pacer
SleepyWhiteSox replied to greasywheels121's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Why would you like it? Francis is a sloppy baseketball player, not known for being a team leader type guy, and most definitely not a smooth point guard. Outlaw is crap all that's really in it for you is the first round pick. Artest is far and away the best player in the deal. Tinsley is also the better point guard of the two ( francis and himself). You guys woud be losing so much defense ( which is why the pacers are so good)... it's not even funny. There is a reason rocket and majik fans always want francis gone. Because they're saying only a couple of the deals of the dozen or so have even All-Star caliber players. This one is probably close to or possibly at the top of the list as far as the talent they get back, unless they just opt for expiring contracts. Artest is going to be far-and-away the best player in any trade because every GM knows the Pacers have to and desperately want to unload him within the next few days. It sounds like Jermaine absolutely hates him, and I'm sure the rest of the team and organization feel about the same. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) old dominion 87, depaul 43 ouch. what the hell is up with that? Worst loss in school history. :headshake Nice way to follow up a great win... :headshake I HATE wainwright. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Cuz Eddy Curry woulda shut him down0rz!!1!1 We know you hate Tyson, you don't have to say it every day. It's almost like you hope he fails to stick it to Tyson fans. And we know you're going to overreact after every bad bulls mistake and post it in these bulls game threads almost every game, yet you do it all the time... I'll try and make it simple so that you can understand. I don't hate tyson. Never have. I want him to do well. I want him to contribute to my team. But my expectations of him are realistic, unlike a few of you. I don't think he's going to go down as a "legendary defender" like some of you do. I don't put him nor ever will put him in the same category as Brand, like some of you do. Some of you even think he's better than Brand, so pardon me while I laugh my ass off. He has not done anything to show that he can, and he continues to not show any signs of it, which is why I keep pointing it out. Don't fault me for proving you wrong... And who's curry?? Does he play on the Bulls? If not, I'm not so interested in him...

12/20 arbitration deadline (Garland,AJ,Crede,Mack)

QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) Its been like that for the entire offseason. Could it be because he EARNED it? Not sure if anybody else remembers what happened in October... I'd rather cut Kenny some slack then become a yankee-type fanbase that expects to get everything they want. -
I like how sportscenter was nice enough to highlight tyson as 'Sheed was basically dominating him... :headshake Anybody else catch that? How dare they do that to The Greatest Shot-Alterer in the League!

I gave it a listen to see what the commotion was about...wasn't really impressed. I guess you would have to be a longtime fan to truly appreciate it.

Fantasy Football question?
SleepyWhiteSox replied to Random's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Similar dilemma... I have Shaun Alexander going, but who is going to be my second back. Mike Anderson vs BUF or my two newest additions, while everyone was sleeping Ryan Moats vs STL Cedric Houston vs MIA. I'm leaning towards Anderson cause he's had big weeks for me in the past and I think he'll run over BUF, but the splitting carries s*** drives me nuts. Ryan Moats will probably get the majority of the carries against STL weak defense, but do I want to depend on a rookie in the first round of playoffs? uggh decisions decisions Let me know what you decide between moats and houston because I have the same dilemna. I need to choose between those 2 as my 2nd back. Let me know what anyone thinks as I have no clue about either but picked them up because they had good games and through injuries I'm left with no other choice to start with LT. -

And you thought we as Sox fans had it bad... During the recent DePaul win over Wake Forest, Majerus mentioned at the end of the broadcast that it was a shame that neither the cubune nor the moronotti times had sent anyone to cover the big upset. This pissed the hell outta a lot of us DePaul fans so a bunch of us sent e-mails and letters to the trib, sun times, and the guy in charge of DePaul sports marketing about it. Here's the type of response that we got, which served to further infuriate us and cement our sentiment that the tribune is garbage: The dickhead then send this to us, but the damage was done: The Sun-Times then did a follow-up story the next day, which was nice, but damn it sure does still feel like too little, too late. www.suntimes.com/output/campus/cst-spt-demon15.html No respect, I tell ya...we don't get no respect. -
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) You're talking about saving stuff that I say so that I'll hopefully be wrong and you can post it? Dude, you said that Larry Hughes is a better defender than Bruce Bowen. Everything wrong that I say from this point on to the day that I die combined could never measure up to that. So please, post a picture of some little girl or something. Resorting to putting words in my mouth...And I thought you were done with this thread. Show me where I said Hughes was better than Bowen. You can't find something that isn't there. I stand by my saying that Hughes would get strong consideration for the award because voters tend to vote for leaders in defensive categories (steals and blocks), and he certainly did because he was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team. You really don't have to pout just because I don't agree with you. I just find it funny how nobody agrees with your assessment on tyson. In fact, I dare you to go to any other board, specifically an NBA board, and post the same things you do and see if anyone agrees with you. I don't frequent any but I'm sure that you and qwerty and a few others on here know some. Show me anyone else that says they think tyson will be a "legend on defense." Show me anyone else who knows anything about basketball that says they would rather have tyson over Elton Brand. I honestly think that nobody who truly knows basketball will agree with your silly speculation that you have now resorted to basing on potential and upside. He might get better...I mean he has to...but he has done nothing to show that he will ever develop into one of the greatest defenders of all time as you hope for. Use that same language and show me who agrees. Like I said, I just find it hilarious that you have nothing to base your claims on other than him being tall and having long arms which gives him the so-called "potential" to "possibly/maybe" turn out to be "great."

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) How about a pic of Larry Hughes, and then you can put the words "Defensive Player Of The Year" right underneath it. Okay, I'm done with this thread. Was he first-team? Yep. You're done with it yet you haven't left... Have you realized how horribly wrong you are about saying that tyson is or ever will be better than Brand at anything? You're tempting me to save all the tyson-luving bulls*** you preach so I can rub it in your face when you realize how wrong you are, but I won't. Notice how everyone but you sees the real tyson, all of his deficiencies and how atrocious that trade was.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) You just said "Have fun losing", as if I don't have a team capable of contending in League 1. I listed my roster, and your response was "I don't care about your team". You're like a little f***ing kid or something. I'm tempted to bring back the picture of the little girl crying.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) Uh huh, and how is this not playing to win: PG: Nash SG: M. Daniels G: Diaw SF: Artest PF: Howard F: J O'Neal C: Dalembert C: Pryzbilla UT: Pachulia UT: C. Anthony BN: David West BN: Delonte West BN: Livingston You kidding me? Are you trying to tell me that I don't have a chance of winning this league? Get the f*** outta here. I really don't give a s*** about your team, and I don't know how we started discussing fantasy basketball. I mean, I'm still gonna finish better than you, and I like my chances at winning both leagues too, even though I like my other team more. Anyways, just let me know when tyson starts becoming the defensive monster you keep blindly preaching, as long as it's with the Bulls. If it's not, I really won't care about him.
