  1. Looks good. That being said, college baseball sucks.
  2. Dragline: He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Thanks for all the great info. It will be interesting to see how he does. He's already pulled in a couple of Top 100 kids, even though he got into the game really late on both (and he's close to getting another one in Will Harris) so he has definitely opened some eyes recruiting wise. People from both Depaul and UConn that I've heard from really mirrored what you said. Very good defensive coach with an emphasis on rebounding and defense and a questionable offensive coach. Runs a system similar to Calhoun's (well, its almost exactly the same) and it can be very stagnant at times. It'll be interesting to see what happens. We are all fairly excited about Dave, with some raising a few questions about his offense. If he has a good enough stay at UVa to where he would go to UConn when Calhoun steps down, I suppose that would mean he left us in pretty good straights so that would be okay. Thanks again for the info. Not a problem. Always happy to talk a little DePaul basketball with anyone willing to listen. We're interested in Will Harris too, but it looks like he's already taken a visit to Virginia. Wainwright has already lost out on recruits who DePaul followers thought he had a very good chance with, so I am already disappointed with that and am not surprised when he loses out on more good ones. I also went to FSU for a couple of years, so I watched a little ACC basketball in person. I visited Clemson and Miami for football but never made it to UVa. I've heard great things about your school and the campus.
  4. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) sharp jacket. Surprisingly, I thought it would be sold for more. Me too. I believe Nike letterman jackets start at $300, and I would have imagined that those (Majestic?) would be about the same. Slap that WS logo on it and I could see those jackets going for about $350 when you consider how much prices on items are increased with the WS logo (i.e, New Era cap increased from $25 to $32, replica jersey from $70 to $100).
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) They no look so good........ They're fairly plain, and I don't like Reebok...yet I'm strangely drawn towards maybe getting them...Well, at least considering, although I know I can resist!
  6. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Right now, i'm on a big cheez-it fix. Those things are god's snack. Also, for the college guys, I've had jimmy john's subs 3 times in the past week. I bought packages of about 10 little hot and spice cheez-it's (made with green tobasco sauce! ) at the dollar store. Yep, well worth the price. They taste real good in chili. And I've yet to try jimmy john's, but I go to potbelly's about once a week now. subway is horrible.
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) For me it's impossible to keep a cap clean. If I wear it, my head will sweat and eventually it will get dirty. lol... Well, that's true. Eventually that's what happens. I just try to keep my newest and most current hat, which is usually the favorite at the time, as pristine as possible. Dirty and ripped seems too frat-boy for me, and clean but with a straight bill seems too ghetto (take the damn tags and stickers off!). I prefer clean with a perfectly curved bill.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) I have a question for Depaul fans. As a Virginia alum, and huge UVa basketball fan, I am interested in hearing your opinions about Dave Laiteo from a fans point of view. I've heard a lot about him from a media (mine) point of view, but I'd be interested to know a fans point of view. I followed him enough last year with the prospect of him being a candidate if Gillen was fired, and read enough to know that he is a no-nonsense coach who will have them rebounding and playing good defense. But what about offense? I saw some awfully low scores in Depaul's games from his team last year. Is it just because it's a ball control offense, or did you guys not have very many good offensive players beyond Greer and Diener (he was a shooter at least; and I hope I got those two players right). So in general. What did you think of him and what should we be expecting down here? Ah, a question close to my heart (or maybe the opposite). Traitao was a good coach, but I would not consider him great. He was still growing and developing at DePaul, and I think he will continue to do so. He is a very good recruiter. He has an eye for talent. He found Dorell Wright before he became NBA material, and also Wilson Chandler who will be a freshman, who rose to become Mr. Michigan and a high-ranked recruit, among other. Our current freshman are a top 20 recruiting class. I thank him for that because Wainwright has had as much as weber so far. His offense is not good, to be honest. Last year the offense consisted of passing the ball around the perimeter with very little ideas of what to do with it. Then guys like Greer or Diener had to bail the team out and hoist up a shot. Sometimes it worked, but usually it didn't. Quemont was hot to start the season, but then he cooled off A LOT and resorted to throwing up ill-advised shots. If you like screens, cuts, give-and-go's, and inside-outside passing, Leitao's offense would have made you cringe last year. The defense was the key last year. Full blame goes to Leitao for DePaul not making the NCAA tournament last year. For the most part, they were able to beat the teams they should and lose to the better teams, but the few games that they lost to inferior (talent-wise) teams is what kept them out. All they needed to do was pull out ONE win out of two tries against UAB, a team not at the level talent-wise of DePaul, but one that played harder, smarter, had a much better game plan, and was better-coached. They lost both, and UAB took their spot in the Tournament. I was extremely disappointed by that. Leitao is young. He has room to improve. He is a solid recruiter, good defensive coach, but he needs a better game plan on offense. I am not bitter that he left because it did not seem like he wanted to be here in the first place. He was not very active in the city. I also do not blame him for taking the money that Virginia threw at him. Just be careful because it seems that he'll want the UConn job if given the opportunity and he is worthy of being a candidate when the time comes.
  9. I'm the exact opposite. I luv the feel and look of a brand-new, sleek clean baseball cap. All I do is bend the bill and place it in this plastic thing with an elastic string that shapes and curves the bill (it came with a previous cap I bought). I keep it as clean as I possibly can. If I'm going to sweat, I won't wear my favorite caps (currently the Sox cap with the WS logo, and also my DePaul cap with the old Blue Demon logo...both fitted, of course). I HATE when the white inside parts gets dirty, and I cannot stand a smelly cap. I reserve one older cap, an FSU baseball cap, for when I know I'll be playing a sport or doing something where it can get sweaty and/or dirty. Oh yeah, and flex-fit is sacriligeous.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) I'm just 19, and we definitely still would do this during the summers now. We wouldn't even need that many people. We'd use pitcher's hand as a rule for outs at first, and then we'd have ghost runners, etc. We'd do the same w/ football. We'd just need 3 people. One would be a QB, one would be on offense (no running plays), and another on defense. Two-hand tap, two completions equaled a first down, and the length of the boulevard was a TD. Neighborhood sports = the best. Pitcher's hand and ghost runners. There were ALWAYS arguments on whether the ghost runner would have been fast enough to score... And football in the street was fun too. Two-hand tag always meant people were getting pushed into cars and knocked into the street. Bruises and screpes were like badges of honor...
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Borders also. If it has not been previously mentioned, Barnes and Noble also.
  12. So did we find out if this is the"official" one or not? I'm still confused on that.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 09:24 AM) LMAO.. Ditto. BTW folks.. I stopped in JCPenny (Louis-Joliet mall) last night to pick up a gift card and the Customer Service girly said that the WS stuff was going to go on 20% sale next week. Not cause it's not selling.. but because they have a s*** load of it and Christmas Sales are starting. They still had all the t-shirts, sweatshirts, car flags, and mugs & shot glasses. 20% is better than nothing. Does it apply to all locations?
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) 3 games - 2 holes in my wall Man Bulls you are killin me and its the first week of the season I'm not even getting worked up about it. I'm expecting this for the rest of the season, but hoping for the best.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) This team has no clue how to finish You got it.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) Game winning/tying situations are possibly my favorite moments in sports. I prefer time-outs, half-time shows, and the 7th-inning stretch.
  17. Two straight heart-breaks? Damn, I hope not.
  18. 10 bucks says skiles falls in luv with this lineup, especially if we win, and noc starts at least the next 40 games.
  19. I like this lineup better than what we start with.
  20. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) Tyson won't be a legit starting center until he gains some damn weight. The bigger centers in the league will just dominate his scrawny ass. He'll never gain weight.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) QUIT PLAYING LIKE A b**** TYSON DUNCAN JUST RAPPED YOU YOU f***ING PUSSY
  22. Is there an 82-game limit for each active spot?
  23. By the way, Kirk shoots too much...not that there are any options that are that much better.
