  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) now all i need to do is buy a world series patch and have mom/gf sew it on. mom/gf? That's just plain wrong...
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) Mine is even more ghetto. I just took a picture of the Sox logo on my hat and made it the background. Me too! Pictures of TV images, pictures from the computer screen, pictures of pictures...works just fine for me. I don't have e-mail capabilities, so if I'm bored and see something I'd like as a wallpaper, I'll just take a picture of it.
  3. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:26 AM) Here’s an idea for you. Every time you see a white child rapist, a white killer, a white wife beater, or a white arsonist on the news on TV; every time you read about a white mass murderer, a white pet torturer or a white bank robber in the newspaper – you should think to yourself: All males are horrible, loathsome creatures. Or - all white people are horrible, loathsome creatures. Or - I am a horrible, loathsome person because of what these people did because I am just like them. “Notice a pattern here” you say? Indeed Excellent post.
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) Not me. He's probably in the middle of a big old man poo. It woulda been nice to hear how happy Hawk woulda been...
  5. Playing professional basketball is considered a good thing that people strive for because of the money and prestige that comes with it. Smoking is considered a negative activity that is bad for your health and is essentially looked down upon. The health risk of prolonged smoking is probably higher than the risk that Eddy is taking as long as he is medically cleared and fit to play. Again, I don't think it's a valid comparison.
  6. I like when my whole fantasy team is injured with very little to no time, or just not to my knowledge, so that I can at least make changes. I benched Julius Jones and I also had a feeling that Carnell wouldn't play, so I benched him too. Playing Mewelde Moore seemed like the safer bet, and it worked out well. But what happened to Corey Dillon? And Joe Horn?
  7. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) eh. f*** her and her 3rd place team. eat it, Twinkie b****. I like how you put it.
  8. Just a nice mix of a couple gun shots into the air and fire crackers, along with a few cars honking their horns around here. Nothin' major. In other words, a typical Sunday night in the Gage Park/Brighton Park area.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Facebook > My Space MySpace is basically for those kids who decided not to go to college or the people who aren't past high school. I think both are garbage. AIM is good enough for me when communicating with friends. The less information out on the internet about me, the better.
  10. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) But I'd like to see another "Dodgeball" movie. Well not dodgeball itself, but another sport like Kickball or something with the same actors. But I wish Patches could come back. baseketball :puke
  11. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) With all due respect, to the both of you, that is just ridiculous. Good stuff.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) For 18 million a year? If he does that, then you can kiss one of our starters goodbye. Where'd you come up with that number?
  13. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) I love tobacco...but once it becomes a threat to any part of my life, I'm giving it up in a second. If I can't get a girlfriend or a job because of tobacco use, I'm going to stop using tobacco...plain and simple. If I were ever near getting cancer because of it, I'd drop it in a second. Does the same principle not hold true here? No. Tobacco is a drug that causes addiction. Some people don't stop even after cancer of the mouth and other areas, several operations, etc. They continue to smoke. I honestly don't think it's a fair comparison because of how different the two situations are, in my opinion.
  14. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) When a 28 year old man in good physical shape just drops dead, that worries me. Not because he is the same age as me, but because of what might be the cause. The things athletes put into their bodies contribute to this. The lifestyle lived by athletes is not as healthy as it seems. A good example is Daryl Kile. What really concerns me is that these athletes are role models for children. I will step down from my soap box ... God bless and Godspeed Jason Collier. These things happen more often than we realize, and it usually isn't because of what was put into their bodies but because of natural causes that are not so obvious. And it has also been noted that abnormally tall people have more problems to worry about. What magnifies this is that he was a pro athlete. I wish his friends and family well.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Im a Curry hater.... wow maybe you want to look at the threads during the NBA season last year.....ask WHarris or Qwerty... I am a huge fan of what Curry brings.... but feel bad for a guy that is getting paid 60 million and would of been paid 20 million to sit on his ass at home? Im sorry but no good. I used myself because you said he loves to play the game.... Well so do I whats your point...... So your argument is that he should walk away from the game and never play again?
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) If he loves the sport so much why not get in shape to play it until last year.......And sure he can like it but is it risk your life to play a "game".... I love playing basketball too but I cant make a living doing it and he was able to making a living just to stay away from it. Ok. I get it. You're another Curry-hater. That's fine. I've lost my affinity towards him now that he no longer will be wearing red and black too. His playing shape prior to last season really doesn't belong in the discussion, but I'll address it. Curry dominated in high school at a fairly heavy weight. He went straight to the NBA at a very young age, and he was obviously immature. I think it just took him a couple of seasons to get his act together. And I'm not exactly sure why you used yourself as an example. It sounds like you never really played at a high enough level to make a fair comparison. If the doctors clear him, he's gonna play. It's that simple. He wants to play.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:16 PM) Lol who said they wanted to see him dead... thats why he was offered 20 million just to STAY AWAY from the game.... be mad he left sure but feel bad for a guy that was greedy and willing to risk his life because of it... no good. Yeah, what an asshole for wanting to play professional basketball, his lifelong dream. I will never feel sorry about the ridiculous amounts of money that professional athletes make, but I'm sure some of them actually love to play and want to do nothing else. Do you think it's possible he wants to play because he loves the sport?
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Time for garland to promptly give some runs back. :headshake
  19. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) And as long as the faith-based don't make use of public schools I'm sure you won't mind if we don't tax them for it. After all wouldn't it be discriminatory to tax those who don't want to support public schools in the first place? :rolly Good point. I'd be all for parochial and private schools having to abide by rules that they could not "discriminate" (I'm using that term loosely since I wouldn't consider it discrimination when the schools themselves are faith-based) based on faith...as long as taxes that go to public schools were optional. Parents choose to send their kids to private schools. I doubt they would mind if all of the teachers and those who work there were of the same faith as what the school is based on, and I would imagine that it could even be preferred. Parents also pay taxes that go towards education, so I see nothing wrong with them getting some of that money placed towards their children's education, regardless of the hiring rules of the schools, especially since it is where they are choosing to send their kids. Anyways, that's just my opinion.
  20. Bridgeport for the first couple of years of my life. Brighton Park 'til I was about 10. Now Gage Park with a couple of years of Tallahassee in between while I attended FSU. I transferred back home and go to DePaul. So, basically my entire life up until now on the South Side. I wouldn't be against moving once I get into my career, though.
  21. Wow. My respect grew for him with that piece. Excellent article.
