  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) Guess it is just a coincidence. :rolly There's no way you can blame those records solely on Crawford.
  2. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Sweetney's defense = curry's defense. No reason he cannot give us 16 and 8 this season in a starting role. I highly doubt he scores 16 ppg in any season of his career. And at 6-8, I wouldn't consider his defense equal to Curry's scoring ability in the low post and his high shooting %.
  3. IS THIS REALLY OUR OFFENSE??? I AM SO f***ING EXCITED!!!!!!
  4. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Possibly DH as qwert suggested, but there is no way that the "best hitter" on your team doesn't start for you when you're a team in diar need of some offense.
  5. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) MSG SportsDesk just reported we received Eddy Curry and Antonio Davis and Chicago got Tim Thomas, Mike Sweetney, Jermaine Jackson and 2 picks! I was hoping for Tito.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Peja?? Isn't it just him and Big Ben? Not exactly guys to build your team around...
  7. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Is David Lee as good as the buzz or has he been inflated so the Bulls will ite on him instead of Sweetney. Is this Knick spin? David Lee from UF??? I watched enough of him when I was in Florida... I would never have imagined him having "buzz." I don't see any value in him.
  8. I think the De La Salle lot is probably going to be open...the high school across the expressway right there on 35th. They're getting out early.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) What has he really leaked? He just said that the trade is not what has been rumored in the past weeks. Either way i like when people are able to share any sort of infomation that they are allowed. Well then he sure did leave it vague. I'm treating it like any other unreliable internet source...pure speculation until I hear that it's true.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) One of the main reasons I created this thread was to give credit where credit is due. SoxBadger called Carnell Williams a Walter Payton type player since day one and so far, SB was all over that one. He defended Carnell as a HB and proclaimed he would trump all other first-round HBs because of his running style, power, explosiveness. Hats off to SB on what looks to be a dead-one assesment. So, let's take a look around the league. Who is your team? Does your team have a rookie that we can already call a can't-miss success? Is there someone out there that slipped much further than he should have? Are you absolutely irate your team wasted a pick on someone you think is going to flop? Hell, is this too early to even put out inatial reports? s***, some rookies haven't played one down of National Football League football yet. In any event, what's shaking? Any eye openers? Let's see if he even makes it through the season first. It's still too early even for Cadillac, given that he's already banged up.
  11. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) I really like Sweetney but clearly this closes theh chapter on the Brand deal which turned out to be a very poor one (even factoring in money saved). Horrible, terrible, atrocious trade...
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) He is a douche because he cannot leak his infomation? Why do you think shuf doesn't post here anymore now that he works with the white sox? If someone catches on that it is them posting and leaking anything they will be fired. He's a douche for being a tease. If you're already leaking a little bit of it, that's probably enough to get you fired anyways. Might as well spill.
  13. Interesting speculation. I'm a little worried of what it could possibly be if it's already being speculated that it isn't what was originally being considered...Tim Thomas and Sweeney. Oh well. I will say this though...A big shake-up wouldn't be the end of the world with this team only being playoff-caliber and not really championship-caliber, but if the Knicks are involved I really can't see anyone on that team that would truly improve the Bulls. If only we could find a way to somehow pry away a superstar from somewhere...not gonna happen, though. I guess all we can do is trust in Pax.
  14. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) So in that sense you would agree with madatory maximums on energy usage per household (ruining the enviroment so you can run your TV 20 hours a day is bad for my health), mandatory gas mile usage (banning SUV's, they cause global warming), banning alcahol (it didn't work before but we can handle it now, drunks are dangerous), mandatory healthy meals enforced by the government (obesity is a HUGE drain on society), ect... I think you probably get what I am trying to say. Show me where I said smoking should be banned completely. I think each of those should be dealt with in a case-by-case manner, and I would hope the best interest of the general public would be kept in mind (it isn't always, but it should be) along with what would make the most sense in terms of time, budget, acceptance by the people, etc. Again, more of a personal opinion than anything else. But I like how you stated what I would agree and want based on a single case and look forward to having you tell me my stance on everything else.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) You've never seen a McDonalds? Or Wendy's? Or Burger King? Or Panera Bread, Atlanta Bread? In my opinion, the general health of the majority has greater importance over the rights of individuals. The whole point of rights is that they not infringe on the rights and safety of others. That's essentially my point. And that would be a no to those bread places you mentioned...
  16. Mexico wins the U-17 Soccer World Championship by beating Brazil 3-0. If anyone was watching, it certainly was some great soccer. It's amazing to see such young players playing at such a high level. It was Mexico's first world championship at any level, and they had a great tournament. The beat Holland 4-0 in the semis and then beat Brazil, the winner of the last three championships, with another dominating performance.
  17. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) If you don't like smoking in restaurants, go to smoke free restaurants. It's pretty simple really. I've never even seen one, to be honest. I'm fine with smoking in bars, but I still don't see why smoking is even allowed inside of restaurants. I was in a family restaurant with my parents and brothers, and one of my brothers is 2 years old. The place was crowded, so we were seated in a non-smoking area directly adjacent to the smoking area. It really did piss me off that my baby brother had to be anywhere near cigarette smoke. We did end up moving... Put the damn cigarette down and eat your food! Maybe it's just a pet peeve of mine, but the fact that it's as unhealthy and dangerous as it is makes it logical to ban it in places for eating food, in my opinion.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) And you are basing this on one f***ing inning. I'll take the consistancy shown by LV over the last 4 months, thank you. One inning??? Consistency??? QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) That's it .. I am tired of the Vizcaino fan club. Time to rip thru his numbers. What part of a 3.84 ERA over 68 IP impresses you? What part of a .278 BAA & a 1.50 WHIP impresses you? What part of 6W, 5L, & only 8H over 68 appearances impresses you? It's a 4 team season now so let's look at how he stacks up against the rest: v BOS: .320OBP .513SLG .833OPS 1L vs v LAA: .380OBP .489SLG .869OPS vs Now I don't know if it's dawned on you yet but these are our likely opponents on a road to the WS. That doesn't inspire confidence for a White Sox fan. Marte is a no-brainer. You can't go to battle with just 1 LH RP. You must have at least 2. But with the success of Hermy, Politte, Jenks, Vizcaino is NOT needed. Having El Duque & BMac on the roster for emergency long relief & starts is the wise move. Thanks juggs.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) You are comparing innings. We are talking about months. Since the playoffs are in a couple of days, I'm talking about now...not last month or the month before. If El Duque is feeling much better and pitching better RIGHT NOW, why not go with him?
  20. Personally, I'd go with Rudi and Cadillac. The Cinci offense is looking much better...I just don't see Portis getting many TD's.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) He's much worse. Vizcaino's performance today impressed you more than Duque coming in for an inning and getting 2 K's?...and that was after Viz had given up a hit, I believe...
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) What is the fascination with hernandez here? He isn't Vizcaino.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) If its very obvious you havent watched Vizcaino the whole season after his 1st 2 months and I guess the same thing goes for El Duque too. You're right...I've closed my eyes each time Viz pitches. Until I can see him consistently do well in non-garbage time situations, I will continue to not really trust him. I mean, can you really name multiple situations in which he's come out in a pressure situation and done well? At least Duque has a history of doing well, and I'll take my chances on that over what Viz has shown me. And I didn't even get to catch today's game until the 8th but it looks like Viz was doing as expected.
