QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Remember Konerko was terrible in the 1st half of the season, so was Dye in the 1st couple of months etc. and Pods was doing good. Now it's vice versa. You guys are better with the stats, but from what I remember, those couple of runs the 1st inning we got at the beginning sure aren't coming in like they used to.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) That's because Cleveland's pitching has been much better. You get good pitching with the way Cleveland have been hitting, they are going to win a lot of games. EDIT: And our execution sucks. Like Pods' bad BA/RISP. Just saying if we still had Carlos Lee with his good BA/RISP we'd be scoring a lot more runners from 2nd and 3rd. Nobody plays .850+ a full season. You have to admit they're playing over their heads right now, and making up for their poor first half quite well.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) Pods is a one dimensional player. He's best suited for use in the Dave Roberts role. That's it. Though I did enjoy his one (bunt) hit tonight. Extremely useful. I take it you don't like him?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) That's because we had good pitching. Remember when JG and MB were pretty much a lock to win everygame? We only had to score about 2 runs which is what we're still doing now. The pitching obviously isn't the same, but I see a big difference between the offense of the first 2 months and what we call our offense now.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) Not that, but saying only his family and Brewers fans knew him???? Oh. I was lazy for green. Consider it sarcasm.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) I will restate this stat. We hit 250s in April and May. Then Frank Thomas came back We hit 270s in June and July. Then Frank Thomas got hurt. We stopped hitting. Not because of Scotty Pods. People are not afraid of Scotty Pods, but a 6'5 guy who can take them out. Yes. Granted he was one dimensional, but still he walked a lot and people pitched around him to get to Konerko. In turn Konerko got a ton of better pitches to hit. WTF would anyone pitch to Konerko anymore. Walk him and then strike out Dye or whomever. Definitely Frank, but also a bit of healthy Pods. It seems like a long, long, long time ago, but I still do recall instances where we scored early on because of him. I do miss Frank though...

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) What are you talking about? I wouldn't call Pods one of the most overrated players in baseball. There are far too many more better-known players with more name reocgnition that can take that title before him.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) White Sox 1st half offense = Indians 2nd half offense No way. Unless you mean as far as playing over their heads.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Not I. He's always been among the most overrated baseball players in the game. Nobody but his family and a couple of brewers fans knew who he was last year... He may be a little bit overrated, but I wouldn't go as far as calling him one of the most in all of baseball.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Belliard DP!!!!!!!!!!! TB WINS Cruel, cruel joke if you're lying... I'm happy as s***!

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Do you have any doubt that the fricking Indians are going to come back in the ninth? I'm more nervous about that game since it was pretty obvious early on that the Sox would lose.

An offense.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) Meaning what? He's shown absolutely no ability to make in-game decisions in the last months, which is when the team needs the manager the most. Yes, he doesn't control what the players do. However, he's in charge of putting the team in the best chance to succeed. He's completely failed this team with that. And with this team continuing to look lethargic, isn't he supposed to be the great motivator? I honestly don't think it matters who he puts in to bat anymore. NOONE will hit.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) Too bad only the chat crew knows of you. Everyone should get to appreciate what a huge pussy you are, old man. I don't like him either...

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Why is everyone so worried about diversity as opposed to finding the best candidate? Because it's possible that a quality candidate would be overlooked because they're a minority.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Sad because there are people that truly believe that right? Just sad in general. Anything having to do with the Sox is sad at this point. I feel disgusted after what I saw tonight.

QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) Shouldnt that be in Green? He's too cool for green. Regardless, it's a sad thread...

Can the blame be placed squarely on the offense tonight, or will it be another 'blame Ozzie' night? -
