  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) Go back and read my list of reasons I feel this is a full organizational collapse. Between the Marte situation, the Duque/McCarthy stuff, the players b****ing about attendance, Iguchi b****ing about rest/spot in the order, and Gload's b****ing....this sure seems like the 2004 Cubs. LaTroy Hermanson looked good last night. I disagree, fathom. I just think those sorts of stories are what come up when the spotlight is placed more intensely on a situation. I highly doubt it's any different then what other teams like the Yankees or Red Sox go through. You can oftentimes hear about how it's a soap opera for those situations too. More spotlight means more dramatic stories, I think.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) AL MANAGER OF THE YEAR Just STFU already...
  3. Yep. Still an ace. Atrocious the 2nd half of this season, but from his overall body of work...still an ace.
  4. Why even identify yourself as a White Sox fan if you're not still in?
  5. QUOTE(infohawk @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) It's not Ozzie's fault that the starting pitchers have been sub-par down the stretch. You can only blame the manager for so much...
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) You can say that again. A case can be made that his dissapointing year last year was more productive than this one. He is one of the least productive .290 hitters you will ever see. As soon as he gets to the point where he can't steal at least 30 bases a season, and judging by the last couple of months that time isn't far off, he will be selling insurance. He's signed through next season, so he's got another year to show somebody he's worth a roster spot, but I'm with you, I would love for some team to think they have to have him and give KW a call.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) BEST RECORD IN THE AL Good point.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) The sky has fallen. We deserve to be able to b****. :sleep
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) His stolen bases percentage is right around 74%. The rule of thumb is if you cannot steal bases at a rate of 75% to 80% ( most people say 75%) that you are better off not moving at all. Formulas and lots of research has gone into it for me to believe it. That is not counting all the times he tries to stretch a single into a double or does not try and take the second baseman out hard at second. He ranks as one of are worst base stealers on the team... but no one is as pitiful as uribe. Konerko may very well be one of our top three while on the bases... rarely does he do something that he shouldn't. Maybe we should bring back valentin to teach our team how to run the bases a little better... I just can't equate leading the majors in base-stealing with being a bad base-stealer. He isn't perfect, as we've all seen some of his mistakes, but overall he's far from bad, in my opinion. Will your opinion change if it jumps 1 percentage point from 74 to the more acceptable 75?
  10. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) What the hell. Maybe they'll sneak into the playoffs and surprise us. Let's hope so. I've been holding onto that sentiment for the past month or so myself... I'm just not sure how much longer...
  11. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) Are you still mad that he rips on Curry? Who? Oh yeah, I remember him before the heart problems... Edit: Don't mind me, I'm just really, really, really bitter right now.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) We have no chance in the playoffs. Might as well forfeit the playoffs, right?
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) Podsednik is a bad base stealer QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Have i ever used green while i have been at soxtalk? Nobody would mind if you did.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:17 PM) STFU this time Fathom, STFU. This is not Ozzies fault tonight. For once blame the players. This is all on there shoulders tonight. My thoughts exactly. I mean, how many f***in' errors did Ozzie have tonight??? I understand that there are plenty of Ozzie-haters on here, but that's just ridiculous...
  15. You mean other than the DePaul football team? I was at FSU for a couple of years, so I'll go with them. Even though I went to the home games when I was there (plus road trips to Clemson and Miami), I didn't grow up watching them or anything (nor did I graduate there), so I don't really follow them a whole lot. It's also fun to piss off old friends from there and root against them, but I did enjoy the win over Miami this year.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Their messageboard or ours? Probably theirs. It doesn't work anymore though.
  17. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) The rest of em are filled with drunk assholes who live in filth and brag about how many girls they've got with. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) I guess to people that are outcasts it may seem that way. Settle down there, guys...
  18. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) SnB knows what i'm talking about, he experiences the same things down here. What kinds of experiences have you had? Personally, I do agree that the majority of frat guys are arrogant, but I never had any bad experiences at any of their parties or hanging out with my friends' "brothers." Some of my friends joined frats, and although there was a slight difference in how they acted (yeah, it's noticeable), I wouldn't call them complete assholes. You can be proud, but some become arrogant. As long as they don't bother me, I don't really care. Some (sadly, the minority) frat guys are still respectful and pretty cool. But yeah, why would you pay for your friends?
  19. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) it is torn he is out for the year atleast thats what espn news on XM radio said s***. There goes a wasted high pick in fantasy.
  20. This has to be my favorite thread in about the past 2 months.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) While everyone was saying that all the Sox had to do was win 50 pct of their games, etc....I was the person saying that there's no guarantee that the Sox win another game all season. Well, yeah...and it's also possible that team loses every single game, but not probable nor logical... Is your glass even 1/8 full?

    Movie MVP

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) I believe a good director can make a good movie out of a bad script, and vice versa. I agree. This can be seen when the opposite occurs in bad movies. A writer can turn their good book into a screenplay, but a Hollywood director might butcher the hell outta it.
