  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 06:53 PM) That's the definition of choking. So does almost every single baseball team choke every year? It's been a bad stretch. It happens. It's not called choking. Yeah, they've been playing some horrible baseball for a couple of months now, but the lead is still there, and their have been a couple of bright spots along the way like tonight to continue to give us hope. Call it a choke if we lose the lead and miss the playoffs. Until then, I just don't see how it can already be called choking...
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) HAHAHAHAHA Hawk - "Dennis, can you give me this guys email? Cuz he don't know what the hell he's talking about" That was good...
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) And how do we know McCarthy will always keep us in games? He has the ability, but not the experience. Could we afford to possibly throw away every sixth game? Watch the replay if they show it late-night? Seriously though, if he can't do it after a couple of starts, it reverts to the 5-man rotation. Easy is that. It's just nice to have options, and the team is in a posititon to do so.
  4. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Brandon-- I love you. Soxy Lucky bastard...
  5. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Nobody is saying that Burehle stinks - did you read that somewhere in this thread ? As I said, he's a good #2 starter, but do you honestly rank him as a true #1 starter ? Thanks for that one...
  6. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) How the hell did we get worse then last year? We almost won 6 games last year and we had freakin Hutchinson starting..We added a Pro Bowl WR, another OL so to make the line better, our running game should be good and we have the best D in that freakin div..Anybody see that Lions game? This is the team that's better then us? Green bay lost just about all the O line and that D is pathetic..The Vikes should be good, but am i missin something..am I not being objective here.. A team that is that good on D can't possibly be ranked last in the NFL.. But hey, what the hell do i know..they're the "experts" Yeah, don't forget the favorable schedule starting off...
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) Gah...I almost wish I didn't read this. I'm so excited now. Me too. I hate wanting something I know I'm probably not gonna get...
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) maybe it's that he's allowed more than 2 runs in a start just once since returning to Charlotte. I was looking for the numbers myself... Sounds like a concrete reason for being optimistic to me.

    Question...

    Yes. Yes, it is. If you KNOW you're purposely omitting it, it's deception.
  10. QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Peerless Price is gonna be available too I would much rather take my chances with Warrick...
  11. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) Santana>>>Buehrle I just like the fact that it's debatable, and santana's first half was nowhere near as good as last year...
  12. QUOTE(brijames @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) The Sox have stopped hitting period, and with great hitting ballclubs like the Rangers, currently beating us up, followed by the Tigers who are a great hitting team as well, the Sox will probably lose 6 of the next 7 while the Indians are just plain pounding everyone right now. That will put the lead around 2 or 3 by the end of next week and then the pressure will really eat this team up.
  13. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) My guess would be because we're playing 2 games tomorrow, with one game being started by a rookie who has had poor outings vs Texas in the past. However, I know nothing about baseball, so continue on. Stop thinkin' so logically and bash Ozzie! I was kinda thinkin' the same thing...
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) He gave up 3 runs to Boston in one game. He gave up 2 runs to Oakland in one game. But you are right. He got murded in all five. It's easy to make a case if you don't use facts. If true, not bad at all... And I applaud your effort in defending Mark.
  15. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Not from the VMA's, but who cares. yay paparazzi Thank you.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) IMHO, we need the posters that have invested the most time, those with thousands and thousands of posts to lead the effort. Our newer members see stuff from veteran posters and adopt that feel, that style of posting. I know when I'm on a new site, I'm careful to read before posting and try to stay within the "unwritten rules" of the site. I especially notice the people with huge post counts and assume that is what is encouraged at that site. I've been PMing some of the biggest and brightest posters about this issue and to a person, they wish we could return to a time when everyone knew everyone, people really knew what we meant, not what we typed. We've grown too big for small town USA. Most will not know what we meant, they only know what is on their screens. And finally, one way to simmer things is to not quote. Reply with what you believe. The rest of us reading understand point-counter point and do not need, in many cases, the quoted material. It also stops some of the 1 v. 2 from starting. This is a once or twice a decade season, based on our history. I would like everyone to think back on this season and have Soxtalk be a positive part of the memory. It's easy for me, y'all are the only Sox fans I get to talk with. Great post. Some of the "oldies" are just as guilty as the "newbies." This is a fun board, and I have confidence that it can continue to be that way...
  17. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) and what the Bears could have in Benson/Jones. I sure as hell hope so...
  18. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) If you are thinking about what Bologna is while you are eating it, then you arent gonna like it. Its one of those things thats better left unsaid. I don't like bologna, so I doubt I'd like it any better fried. Miracle whip is another ingredient in that sandwich someone mentioned that I don't like. Well, that's just me.
  19. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) Damn, has Marshall Faulk fallen that far in the RB rankings? He's old and injuries have taken their toll, but I'd still have to put him in the second tier. I could be completely wrong about that. Yeah, Stephen Jackson is their clear-cut go-to RB at this point.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Well I like it mostly except for some changes.. Chris Brown, Domanick Davis, Westbrook, and Steven Jackson up a level. Deshaun Foster and Marshall Faul down a level... Jackson is starting over faulk this year. Also Willis McGahee shouldnt be an the elite if julius and kevin jones arent. And some could argue putting Jordan up a level with the kind of offense Oakland is having but I dont mind where you put him. That sounds about right, although it's mostly speculation at this point since this season hasn't even started. Chris Brown needs to stay healthy. And I like Julius more than Kevin. Lamont obviously needs to prove himself.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) Toothpaste the holes in the wall when moving out of a dorm room. I used white-out. I don't recommend it.
  22. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) ^^^^ Nah, I just like it with miracle whip, cheese, lettuce, and thats it. I can eat Fried Bologna, occasionally. But I prefer Steak-ums for my fried meat heart attack special. Is it just me or does fried bologna sounds kinda gross? And yeah, I'm knocking it without ever trying it.
  23. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) Benson will not be playing in the last preseason game. Straight from Lovie's mouth.
