  1. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) I guess we can only score via the HR Well, that didn't take long... I'll take runs however we can get 'em at this point.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) Because there are more Mexicans in California than in Mexico...
  3. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) Agreed. The "Hell Yeah" in the subtitle gave it away. Sad Really Seriously though, what is the sick infatuation with trying to be the first one to "call it" if we somehow don't make it? (Relax, we're making it.) It really is the way that people make it sound as if they want it to happen that bothers me. I'm fine with pessimism, I can be pessimistic myself, but it seems to be going above and beyond pessimism....
  4. They closed down Demon Dogs...
  5. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) You're f***ing crazy. Go back to the sawx board. lol...
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) Sleepy I'm with you. f*** all the doubters. I will be in all year.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) :headshake Better? Yeah, you're a class act. I'll take the high road and let you continue with your kiddy s***. I've never responded to your posts until recently so I have no idea why you're tring to be an asshole towards me and bait me into a petty argument...Have fun with that though.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) Yes, because I'm apparently another poster on here that isn't as intelligent as you believe you are. Seriously, STFU with that s***...People that assume what I think, know, and/or believe is a huge pet peeve...Let's at least keep it respectful.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Why is pessimism looked down upon when this team has done nothing in almost 90 years to warrant a happy-go-lucky approach? Do you really need to know why pessimism is looked down upon?
  10. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Ozzie Guillen might be the worst manager in baseball. Uhhh...no. But thanks for the red sox fan perspective.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) 12 teams, just made it a few minutes ago... Oh, ok. Lemme know who joins. I'm in a couple of leagues already, but I'll probably be game. Still deciding.
  12. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) Everyone in this thread has a different definition of IN and OUT. I feel like I'm surrounded by Bill Clintons. I said out because I have to faith in this team to win. I have faith in them to do one thing, and that's break my heart. I won't let them break my heart again by admitting right now that I know they'll f*** it all up. I'll root for them, but I'm not going to let them inevitably ruin my days and break my heart. This sort of thing happens every single year, just on different levels. I think a lot more people feel like I do than are letting on in here. EDIT: I reiterate, I still root for them to win and I am still a fan. Nice edit. And no, you have no way of being so sure that they'll "f*** it all up." There is no way to gurantee that. The pessimism on this board is both maddening and sad at the same time...
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) I never liked Ozzie's in-game managing ability...and this recent stretch has only proven to me that he has no clue what he's doing on the bench. Have I missed Ozzie taking the bats out of our guys' hands and swinging wildly at horrible pitches for them?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) And he did that before the trading deadline. We got Geoff Blumm to replacement. Thanks for the shot in the nuts KW. Yeah, he just sat on his ass and didn't explore any possible trades at all, right? I highly doubt he was aggressive too. :rolly We all know they were trying to upgrade. I would think KW has the team's best interests in mind... It didn't work. No other team made moves either. Something must've been up if nobody made any moves either, and I'm not about to completely blame KW about it.
  15. How many teams and who's in it so far?
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Our offense just sucks....you can't win if you don't score. They proved what they were capable of for months. I honestly feel that they can get back to that, or at least enough of it to make the playoffs. Now I will admit that my World Series fantasies are slowly fading, but THIS IS STILL A TEAM GOING TO THE PLAYOFFS!
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:12 PM) I actually appreciate the optimism at a time like this. As a Sox fan though, isn't it a little sickening that seemingly every night, we say the same thing, but with a lower number? Once we get into the playoffs, anything can happen. I don't care if we barely squeak in... Will I get nervous as hell if it gets down to 5 or 4 games? Hell yeah. I just don't see it. I cannot fathom this type of colossal collapse. We were playing too well early on to not be a playoff team this year, and I believe that we can reach that level of play and make the playoffs. Once there, anything can happen. I still believe.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Whats with the ketchup hating? :puke
  19. IN Please don't jump back on the bandwagon when they start to heat up going into the playoffs.
  20. No hope needed. We are 7 games up, not down. Time will run out for the indians no matter how hot they may seem. We're not blowing this lead.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) My f***ing goodness. Soft grounder hit to Alex Gonzalez, and he bobbles it. 4-3 Rays.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) The Sox have only scored in 1 of their last 29 innings. I'm surprised it took this long for the "we only scored in 1 inning/we only scored by the home run" posts... Our offense is obviously struggling. I'll take the runs however we can get 'em.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Let me just ask you this....will you still feel that way if we don't make another trade this season? I will assume the asking price didn't make sense for us on the players being persued for a trade...
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) I disagree w/that. I think they either want to add a superstar like Griffey Jr., or nothing at all. Ozzie also doesn't want to be put in a situation where he'd have to bench Everett or Dye every other night, etc. I just think there are a lot of other players available, who aren't superstars, that could really add to this offense. Did you have anybody in mind? The addition we did make might dispute that idea, but I'm wondering if you had somebody in mind. I just think he's doing his job and exploring as many avenues as possible.
