  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) No.. mommies and daddies should be role models. Not all of them...
  2. Boers & Bernstein said on the Score that Bruce Weber hung up on Jon Scheyer when he called to tell him he was going to Duke...
  3. QUOTE(Mickster @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Ozzie and KW and others on the team simply discuss where they can improve the team. KW makes virtually all of the personnel decisions. Case in point: Pudge was in Ozzie's office prior to signing with the Tigers - just sitting there BS'ing. KW walkes in and Pudge basically says "Let's make a deal, right here - right now" No Boras, no nothing..... From my understanding, the numbers that Pudge was throwing at KW were FAR LESS than what he ultimately signed with Detroit. Similarly, in ST '04, before Urbina signed with the Tigers, Uggie basically begged Ozzie to sign him to a contract - even a 1 year deal for $1M. It obviously didn't happen. Urbina was actually in Tucson living in Ozzie's condo during ST when he wasn't even under a contract with any MLB team. Fact is, Ozzie has little to do with the players that are actually signed by the Sox. He may have some input...some influence, but all decisions fall on KW's shoulders. Interesting indeed. Drinking buddy/Source?
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) You are not needed for this battle. The power is held within. Widge will stick at 50 votes for now. No splitting votes. 10000 AJ votes for every widge.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) I have asked from the horse himself.. Carlos Lee isn't on the team anymore.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) If anyone wants to know how to flood the ballots, let me know via PM and I'll tell you how. Edit: Nvm, I can't get it yet. Maybe they fixed it after last years domination? Damn. I was just gonna suggest somebody do that again. Where there's a will, there's a way?
  7. My parents knew just about everything going on with me at that age, and it was definitely a conscious effort. I hope I can have a similar relationship if and when I have children.
  8. How has that show not been cancelled yet?
  9. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) That must be the weed.
  10. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:14 AM) Alcohol is a hell of a lot worse than weed, though. I'll never understand why people lump marijuana in with hardcore drugs like cocaine, crystal meth, paint thinner, etc. You can abuse alcohol to the point where it destroys your family, particularly when you're the breadwinner or so-called "head of household". I've seen it happen numerous times to friends and friends of friends. You can abuse weed to the point where....well, let's just say that you won't be going on wife and child-beating expeditions and wiping out families on the highway. Less extreme examples include being unbelievably obnoxious in public and starting fights (Sox games, for instance). Smoke too much weed and you'll catch a headache, basically. It makes you passive, paranoid, etc. It's not physically addictive. Anybody who smokes weed can stop any time they want to, as opposed to alcohol where you have to go to Alcoholics Anonymous for a month or whatever, and that s*** doesn't even cure you in the majority of cases. Are you defending marijuana? It's a drug. It's illegal. That's all their is to it.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Based on your first response in here it sounded like that was what you were saying. They shouldn't get punished because it would harm the team, when in fact regular people get punished for the samethings that athletes get away with everyday, no matter what harm it inflicts on their "team" (family, company. etc) Again...why do you keep asking her???
  12. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) I still like to refer to it as Comiskey. Me too.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 09:31 AM) So punish the entire team for the mistakes of few..?? No offense kap.. but that analogy sucked, IMO. It wasn't that bad of an analogy. I would imagine that The Portland Trailblazers' attendance drops would be partly attributed to their criminal persona.
  14. T. Pérez CWS Career vs R. Ortiz .667 AVG, 4 RBI, 1 HR (9 At Bats)
  15. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 12:10 PM) I taught AP bio, Junior. Talk about a badass comeback...
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Look past the record, and realize how bad he's looked in the past month or so. I'm not saying get rid of him after tonight. I'm more just anticipating what needs to happen if Duque continues to look like he has nothing left. I'd give Duque 3 more starts to get it turned around. If he still continues to struggle, you might have to consider placing him on the DL again to try and rest his arm. It's not like that would be a brand-new situation anyways. I would imagine they put B-Mac in again if a Dl stint is needed.
  17. Didn't somebody say they thought Ozuna snuck into their room and shook their bed or something along those lines?
  18. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) Pistens, call me crazy but they still have a shot they must win the next 3 games they have at home though. YOU'RE F-IN' CRAZY!!!
  19. This is my favorite soxtalk thread ever.
  20. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:57 PM) Just remember: It's always George Bush's fault. not the parents, for choosing other needs over food. Maybe forgoe that bigscreen tv and lose the $500 rims on the $1000 car and buy food. Eat the rottweiler, or however you spell that. Stop smoking. Quit buying junk food. Bulls***. they aren't looking hard enough. Jewel always has fruit on sale real cheap. Aldi's has canned veggies extremely cheap. Meijer just had canned veggies 3 for $1 a few weeks back. There weren't enough steryotypes in that post...
