  1. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) He was the #1 offensive option on a very intelligent, deep defensive squad. PG: Terry Porter SG: Clyde Drexler, Drazen Petrovic SF: Jerome Kersey PF: Buck Williams, Cliff Robinson C: Kevin Duckworth Drexler was the only true scorer, everyone else was crafty on the offensive end. If Sam Bowie would have developed into the rebounding/shot altering force that he should have been, they might have won it all at some point between 1988 and 1992. Think about that squad with Marcus Camby. But yeah, Drexler was one of the Top 50 players in NBA history. There's no denying his scoring prowess. However, guys like McGrady and Pierce are arguably just as good as Drexler ever was, and we all know that you just can't build around players like that and disregard the beef (Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics of recent years). I think I might take a healthy Duckworth or Buck Williams over camby on the injured list. Also, take a look at Drexler's assist numbers. This is purely my opinion from what I remember seeing of him when he played, but I would venture to guess that Drexler had much more heart on the court, and probably off, than mcgrady or pierce ever will. When you couple that with his great talent, I'll take him over mcgrady or pierce WITHOUT HESITATION, and that is why I do not see myself saying that they are just as good as Glide. He was the clear leader of those great Portland teams, and the team was essentially built around him, making it to the Finals.
  2. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) wtf? Im just trying to make a point. I grew up middle class. I know what it is to need money. But this is f***in America. Go out and get it. I am trying to compliment you all by saying you guys are more than capable of obtaining $100,000. Us Americans make too many f***en excuses. We want everything handed to us. I have Bills *sob* *sob* I'm in debt . What the f*** ever. People come here everyday to this country with nothing. Nothing at all , and build a fortune for themselves. If money means that much to a lot of you, then quit your blue collar jobs, quit your bad spending habits, make the most out of your time, take college courses that will actually pay off ( not have you making $30,000 grand a year) . I'm sorry, this is the truth. You all can hate me after this. I was told this a while back and it paid off. Quit making excuses and expecting things handed to you ( lottery, gambling jackpot ect) Invest reather than spend. a rich man invests his money ( so his money works for him) An average money works for a living and saves most of what he has a poor man works and never saves . spends half his check on payday and is broke a week before the next pay period. nothing wrong with being either of the 3. I'm just saying change your lifestyle if you need money that bad. Good points. But on the other side, how does the Sox winning a World Championship do anything for your life? $100,000 as disposable income = not worth much Sox championship as basically a form of entertainment = not worth much But you're discounting scenarios where things come up and you're placed in a situation where you need money and it is not that easy to aquire it. Money can be turned into food, shelter, clothing, etc. Basic needs. A Sox championship can be equated to nothing more than a short thrill and maybe some memories that lose their meaning in the long run.
  3. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) Before i get bashed, let me explain myself. Why not use Shingo in a Save OP if they are up by 2 or 3 runs and there are no tough leftys. You haven't used Hermy yet so if Shingo gets in trouble just have hermy warmed up and bring him in. That would make sure that he could get his work in. I agree with using Shingo in save opportunities... but in AAA for a short while.
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Count has been fantastic and would be an All Star with run support. Wins and name recognition. He won't be an All-Star, obviously. But yeah, I'm very happy with how well he's been doing.
  5. You guys are way too positive...
  6. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) His control was ass today. Yep.
  7. Would it be nit-picking to point out that De La Hoya is Mexican-American? I would definitely say that Chavez is the greatest Mexican boxer, and one of the more underrated boxers historically, although that may be because he is only now retiring... Truly a great boxer. One of the greatest, pound-for-pound, of all time, in my humble opinion.
  8. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Do the White Sox even have promotions for IIT & UIC fans? This would seem to me to be a no-brainer. They should have promotions for U of Chicago, De La Sallle, & the other nearby high schools as well. If they don't then they are ignoring potentially 1000's more in the fan base. I went to De. The only perk was getting out of school early for a couple of day games, prresumably to avoid traffic. Their were never any promotions that I can remember outside of hearing about hearing school employees get free tickets every now and then. De also plays one game a year at Comiskey, but tickets are not free. You'd think their would be more promotions seeing as how the school is literally 2 blocks away, there are lots of Bridgeport, Canaryville, etc. area kids that go there (think: building a fanbase when they're young), and lots of ushers and kids that work at the park go to De.
  9. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) Drexler played on insanely deep teams. He was an incredible player on the offensive end, a Top 50 player of all time, but remember, the Rockets won it all in 1994...one year before Clyde joined them. He got his ring, that is true. But he's not the guy who leads you to an NBA championship, despite his Top 50 status. That's why I liken him to guys like Wade, Bryant, Pierce, McGrady, etc. That was my point. He led the Blazers to the Finals.
  10. QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) Awww, are you offended?? Too sophmoric for my taste. They lost me when they started talking about transvestites. Thanks for the sympathy. "Savages!"
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) I understand what you are saying, but I would still take a White Sox World Series Winner over $100,000.
  12. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) I wish I could hear that link, as I'd probably enjoy it, unfortunately it doesn't work for me. Sorry about the confusion. Me too. My computer sucks.
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) Yes. And 'Nique doesn't. I wasn't sure what he meant by "But people will continue to overrate the Dominiques and Drexlers of the world in a championship sense." Glide has a ring. 'Nique doesn't.
  14. QUOTE(Maury @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:07 AM) Spammer??????? f*** you prick, listen and know what it's about before you shoot your mouth off. We helped build this site . Not that i deserve all the credit, I deserve a tiny bit, but don't call us spammers. It's for your entertainment free and costs me 400.00 a year drunk or sober. He was responding to a spammer who's post was deleted. Settle down.
  15. Thanks to whoever is deleting the pathetic garbage. I never thought I would ever have to put someone on ignore.
  16. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Buehrle. No questions asked. I don't think he can go all 4-7 games.
  17. I clicked on something and my winamp came up? Whatever I did, it didn't work. :banghead
  18. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) IMO, Stoudemire would be in the second tier right now with guys like Jermaine O'Neal, Ron Artest, Andrei Kirilenko. I'm surprised you like Amare. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Best SGs and SFs to add to a defensive squad: Dwyane Wade, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen Defensive? QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Best PGs to add: Steve Nash, Jason Kidd I'm surprised you uttered the name Steve Nash. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) Put Wade or Lebron James on Golden State, and then we'll see what's up. I can say without a doubt that if you put any of my four first tier players on Golden State, you'd have a Conference Finals contender. He would be about as good, but nobody can deny that Shaq has contributed to his success. Although the Lakers are nowhere near as good, Kobe is still a star. I CANNOT and WILL NOT say that I believe, without any doubt, that the Warriors make the Conference Finals with Ben Wallace or KG, and I really like those guys. I have no idea how you could be that confident about that statement. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) But people will continue to overrate the Dominiques and Drexlers of the world in a championship sense. Huh? Drexler has a ring.
  19. Damnit. I was going to post this in the other thread but it got locked as I was typing... --- Assuming it's safe to post about the original topic... I would take the money. No question about it. I don't "live and die" White Sox baseball, and that is not a knock on anyone who feels that way, but I do consider myself a huge, loyal fan. It's still just a game, and sports are filled with owners, managers, and players who treat it like a business. If most of them would rather take the money too, then I don't see why I shouldn't either. The money has the potential to have a much greater positive impact on my life. Ask a loyal Red Sox fan just how different their life is after a championship. Anyways, that's my take. ---
  20. 2K1 for Dreamcast is the baseball game I've put the most hours into...
  21. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) Wow, real mature. Real f***ing mature. I don't need this s***, I'm not sitting on this message board and being a bum and staying home...have a good night staring at soxtalk.com lol I, for one, don't think this is as huge of a deal as it's being made out to be. Was anyone really that surprised?
  22. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) Walk him with no outs Judy.
