  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) The article was just from the writer's point of view and what he thinks is gonna happen. Apparently he doesn't know what he bulls have to spend this off-season. Plain and simple if we sign marshall we won't have enough money for either harrington or duhon. We would be fine with Kirk taking his low FG% and high assists back to his natural position, PG, and Ben starting before the All-Star break. I would imagine we could get Donyell, some sort of inexpensive guard, and say bye-bye to duhon, reiner, and griffin? That's my take, although I'll be the first to admit I pay very little attention to the salary cap and contract situations...
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) If we don't get Sherron Collins or Brian Carlwell I'll agree with this. As for Scheyer, I suppose Weber should have been able to change the mind of a kid who always wanted to play for Duke, and is a North Shore kid where UI is seen as a backup school. Scheyer was a Dukie from the moment they offered him. I just wish he wouldn't have wasted everyone's time. If my BROTHER is coaching a kid in my state and I can't get him to come to my school after going to a Final Four, the championship game, and being ranked the top team for the most of the year, should I be considered a good recruiter? Good recruiters for good schools are able to come in and convince kids to come to their schools even if they're leaning towards a certain school. Hey, what happened with Julian Wright?
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Money availability. Since the article stated that they might be interested in Donyell, how would the team look with him?
  4. QUOTE(Cy Garland @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) From NintendoNow You gotta pay for em, i hope its not a hefty price... If they're smart, they'll continue the trend of offering the relatively cheaper option since they're basically in 3rd place right now. I'll be pumped if the price is affordable...They're smart to build on their history and gain an edge with nostalgia... It looks like I'll have to save up for broadband next year... Playing Mario-Kart 64 against on-line players is gonna be soo f***in' awesome.
  5. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Speaking of Johan.........he got RAWKED!!!!! tonight by Toronto. GARLAND > santana Maybe...
  6. Maybe he's 12? That's why I won't be mean-spirited. You never know...
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) He did not choose his words very carefully, and at least made the apology quickly. Sadly, some truth will be lost in his statement. The poorest Americans, regardless of race, color, or creed, do not want these jobs. They do not wish to toil in fields, in the hot sun, moving from town to town for 9 months out of the year. His point was valid, but by singling out blacks was so wrong. As a society we have invested in technology, developed world wide distribution which makes global manufacturing a possibility, we have invested US earnings in multinational ventures, we have done all we can to advance Americans to the point where we sell our intellectual talents, not our muscle. Americans are becoming accustomed to desk jobs, not physical labor. Our economy has allowed it. Now we have these jobs that Americans feel are beneath them, and they need to be done. Immigrants have always taken these jobs. We need immigration laws and policies which allow that to happen.
  8. How did Ill and Oden ever become mentioned in the same sentence? Was it just cubs-caliber optimism by illini fans?
  9. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 17, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) People who are b****ing right now are f***tarded. Teams have ups and downs. "But, but, but we should be 39-0...." No excuses, pessimists, name me one team in the history of MLB that has never went through ups and downs. We're 27-12. We're already exceeding expectations, and I think this team shall continue to do so. How about those who are only venting after a tough loss, validly stating their opinions and critiques, or just making insightful points about certain deficiencies that they're hoping will get corrected?
  10. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:11 AM) Facebook is just a contest to see how many "friends" you have by putting them in a big list. I know people that waste hours on that thing. I've heard some bad stalker stories on there and s*** too. It does nothing for me, and i refuse to register. People obsessed with facebook need to get a life. I'll stop the rant here, i don't have another hour to waste at the current time. Sounds like you have a few facebook rejection stories... No, I agree. I checked it out and saw how people post way too much personal information on there. That's like asking for something f-ed up to happen... I didn't register either. I already have aim and an e-mail. That's really all you need as far as communicating through the internet...
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Anyone think that the Illini's shot for Oden and Conley just went up with Ohio State possibly facing more self-sanctions and more probabtion time as there were 9 more violations NCAA investigators found against the basketball program including money given to players? Nope. I don't.
  12. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) Most teams only have a couple of those guys nowadays...I want like 8 or 9 of them. Now there's a team that I can get behind. Can you say mediocre? I don't see us getting past the 1st round with that team...
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 16, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) We were the best defensive team in the league this year. We would only get better with those additions ( defensively). We may have been good by the regular season numbers, but it sure didn't show in the playoffs... That defensive effort did not look like the best in the league to me.
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 16, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) That would be a sick team defensively. On offense? It would be horrible. Good call. Since none of those guys would be vying for an All-Defensive slot, I'd say it would be a good, but not great, and definitely above average, although slightly, defensive team and an extremely horrible offensive one.
  15. So I watched the Everybody Loves Raymond series finale. It sucked, as most finales do. But the show was great and I still enjoy watching the reruns. Anyways, it got me thinking as to which finales were actually good. The only one I can think of that I really enjoyed was MASH. I was also trying to remember how Cheers ended... Anybody else have any?
  16. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Carl deserves all the love he's been getting, and much more. He's the only one in the middle of the order who has consistently been a tough out. No one has been protecting him. If anyone doesn't deserve the love he's been getting, it's Konerko. I remember earlier in the season after Carl hit a big home run, he barely made it back to the dugout and the crowd was already chanting "Paulie, Paulie!" Carl can come up to bat after hitting a home run or driving in a big run his previous at bat and get polite applause. Konerko can come up after striking out a few times and the crowd is chanting "Paulie!" Anyway, if it weren't for Carl's hitting and his on the field and clubhouse leadership, the Sox wouldn't have 27 wins. After that post I take back saying Carl's playing like s***. I stand by Konerko and Dye playing s***ty though...
  17. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) When in the 2/3 hole, Rowand is as zoned in offensively as anyone we have...with Pods-Gooch-AaRow...thats a VERY solid 1-2-3......only problem is, we have the s***tiest 3-4-5 in the bigs. Yeah, I'll agree. Aaron's comin' around (thank goodness), and Pods can get on base and do damage... Good assessment. There's no other way to put it: K-nerko, Death, and Crazy are playing like s***.
  18. QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ May 16, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) That looks pretty stupid. And I'm a Sony phanboy. I don't wanna say anything until I see the Revolution...
  19. Does any of our hitters besides Iguchi and maybe the catchers deserve love?
  20. So the new ps3 controller is a Batarang?
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 16, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) Raja bell and ruffin would work for the amount of money we have to spend this off-season. I shudder at the thought... We may not have much to work with, but I'm still holding out hope on doing something a little bit better to improve the team. Let's see what Pax can do...
