QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) Ben: 1 of 12 from the field Dore, shut the f*** up this game is over and in blow out fashion I like it. He sounds confident... I guess it's better than having long moments of silence...

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) His have been good. But he has not shown up... hm. Nearly our entire front line has been in trouble the last two games, you are acting like it has just been chandler. The refs officiating has not helped us any either. To be honest, I thought he was gonna blow up in the playoffs. I was looking forward to it. He plays hard and he plays intense, which is key in the playoffs. I thought he'd be what Noc was that first game. Instead, we get an idiot who forgets how to defend, commits the dumbest fouls, and looks ridiculous out there. They don't even look as intimidated by him as during the season. The drop-off from the season to now is astounding. To say he's been good is just being blinded by Tyson-love. He didn't show up the 1st two, put up decent numbers but got raped by etan thomas last game, and he doesn't sound too good right now. I'm very dissappointed by him. I expected a lot more than just having a foul machine.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) Chander was 15th in the nba playoffs in rebounding, #2 in offensive rebounds, and #3 in blocks before tonights game. This is with all of his foul trouble. It's called not showing up. He's the dumb-foul king right now.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) Tyson, AD, Noc, Kirk, Othella have all sucked. WE NEED EDDY!!!

QUOTE(rangercal @ May 2, 2005 -> 08:01 PM) TYSON and AD have no inside D today. I'm glad to see he raised his intensity and play for the playoffs...

WTF??? I just got home and turn it on to see this half-time score??? So who's to blame for this one? Is Tyson in his usual playoff form?

QUOTE(Steff @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) "success or appropriateness of an argument, an accusation, or a witty point"... the point being that you may or may not also sometimes be considered annoying. Not misused at all.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 2, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) OK.. to clear this up.. I used the word touche in response to you saying BatGirl was annoying inferring that you might also be considered annoying. It was in jest and meant to be a joke, and not in any way, shape, or form agreeing with you that she was/is annoying - because I think she's a bit funny. I've never used "touche" as an agreeing term... is that how you are using it..? I figured you were implying that, but I just found it funny that you were misusing the word. So when trying to "joke" about me, you made it seem as if you were acknowledging my point... touche -- used to acknowledge a hit in fencing or the success or appropriateness of an argument, an accusation, or a witty point

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2005 -> 01:46 PM) In a morbid sort of way, I hope you're right. I don't think anyone will take this seriously as long as the big name players are still out there without any of them being punished. When those guys start getting taken down, maybe the players will take this seriously. It's still a joke. I can't believe it took Congressional hearings just to make selig propose something 'harsher.' Nobody's gonna take it seriously until the punishment is serious. -

Game Thread 5-1 Sox vs Pussycats

Is it cool if I like Paulie and want to keep him, provided he picks it up this year, at a reasonable price? I really can't tell by some of these posts. Durazo looks great playing 1st base, by the way... (I do like Erubiel though.) -
Tiggers @ White Sox - Game 4-30-05

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 1, 2005 -> 04:09 AM) Yes. Everyone having career years at once? No. Do you want them to pitch s***ty because it's what you expect? I don't get it. And Paulie and Dye can't play this bad forever. They're gonna have to snap out of it more sooner than later. I'm not saying any of this is probable, but I'd rather have a good feeling about this year and enjoy the ride than have a "realistic" view about the team I go for and think they're going to break down soon. I get that feeling that we're gonna lose just about every game too, but there's always that thought in the back of my mind that we're gonna win. To me, that's what makes me know I'm a fan. We can be pessimistic, but deep down you have to be expecting them to do some unexpected s***. -

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 1, 2005 -> 03:48 AM) Every single pitcher in our rotation out side of buehrle is pitching way above their heads. How many pitchers do you know that has a whip of 1.63 with and era of .270 ( hernandez)? You think contreras is gonna maintain a era in the low 3's? Possible because he does have the stuff. But he is not all there in the head when it comes to pitching. If garland keeps up what he is doing, well era under 3.50 i will gladly eat crow. Garcia is more like high three era pitcher up into the low fours. Buehrle is well buehrle. I will stick to what i said about being positive we will not maintain a 3.13 era throughout the year. The main cogs in our line-up have been pretty brutal this year. Konerko has seven homeruns and then not much else. Dye has been awful along with horrible decisions in the field. Our outfield as a whole has been making way too many mental mistakes. We need both konerko and dye to get it going along with a healthy team sooner rather than later. Trust me, i am as happy as anyone is right now. Ever heard of exceeding expectations? -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 1, 2005 -> 03:39 AM) I think most of the time, most of us are fairly pessimistic, and that comes with probably what has happened over the past few seasons, and our whole history etc. I also think the media constantly saying we won't succeed can also attribute to us doubting the team. That can take its toll too. -

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 1, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) Well i think our offense is gonna be pretty weak even at it's peak and i am positive the pitching will regress. Can i be considered a sox fan even though i am being realistic? The game thread was pretty depressing until the sox took the lead. I was thinking another day of people being all b****y. Realistic...maybe. But I happen to think that the offense CAN score when necessary, as they've proved in their wins. And there's no way to be "positive" that the pitching will regress. It's probable, but I happen to think that it doesn't have to. The games are played because even though everybody thinks they know what's going to happen based on what's most probable, the unexpected can be a beautiful thing. -
